UPND’s Isaac Zulu acquitted in Rufunsa killing (video and police report of PF Rufunsa violence included)

The Lusaka High Court has acquitted a United Party for National Development (UPND) member Isaac Zulu who was accused of murdering Menyani Zulu in Rumfunsa during violence that characterized the ward by-election in the area.

High Court Judge Dominic Sichinga this morning acquitted Mr Zulu who was accused of murdering Menyani Zulu, a Patriotic Front (PF) cadre in Rufunsa during a ward by-election in November 2012.

The case had been politically charged as the death of the Menyani Zulu directly blamed on the UPND by President Michael Sata but subsequent investigations revealed that Menyani Zulu was killed by fellow PF cadres in a dispute over money.

Judge Sichinga who has been transferred to Kitwe but sat in Lusaka yesterday said the state had failed to prove the case and that the evidence adduced in court was not collaborated.

Isaac Zulu who was at the material day employed as a driver to Siavonga UPND Member of Parliament Kennedy Hamudulu was represented by Gilbert Phiri of PNP Advocates and Martha Mushipi.

  1. Shame that these are the type of people that want a fresh mandate to rule us. PF has no place in the modern world

    • The evidence speaks for itself.Pf is a band of militia. Shame on Zambians for voting for PF in the first place! In all the elections the PF have been killing each other and blaming UPND. The Police have failed us.I now understand why DR.Malama couldn’t work with PF leadership.Shame on Dr.Kaseba who is supposed to be a mother of all Zambians for condoning the evil work of her husband and the cartel lead by Mmembe and Kabimba.Shame on the army for not protecting Zambian Citizens against an armed Militia force.

    • All PF minions are violent and deadly. They can Kill at a whim. Soulusi and Nubian Princess are also killers. They rigged the elections in Mangango, but why UPND did not stop them, I do not understand. There is no way PF could have won those elections. I bet you they staffed the ballot boxes with fake ballots. If UPND does not stop this skim, it will happen again. Did you notice the weaponry in the report above. 16 machetes, guns, screwdrivers and knives. PF are dangerous and they will cause bloodshed in Zambia. Don’t say you were never warned!!

  2. A hooray to the officer that took the video and the officers that testified for the poor innocent man.People PF is a violent party and will stop at nothing to stay in power.who on earth arms untrained disorderly cadres with pangas, axes and worst still firearms; the senior campaing people for PF should be held accountable and fired; in 2016 we the people that are not on the pay ticket of PF will join political parties to vote off these savages. never in my life from federation, multi party democracy, have i seen a party that is as unruly as the PF;

  3. @MUSHOTA! Why do you always want attention iwe mbuzi, kodi ndiwe kagalu otani? How could ZULU be related to HH. Ok, ma Vuzi yako manje….

  4. Ladies and gentlemen, the PF in all their glory. This party just simply needs to go away. Kitwe has shown us that the Copperbelt might be starting to have a semblance of clarity and have started to see the need to remove these people. There is no way a Deputy Permanent secretary can act in the manner described by this brazen police officer whom I salute. Cretins like Saulosi and that little brain-dead ho Mushota will definitely see nothing wrong with this and of course, this will not be a surprise. I weep for my nation.

  5. We need the President to make a statement on the past events in the country for the past 2 months. We are getting confused, the international community is getting confused. Loudest statements are coming from Kamimbya, Chikoti and Shikwanda but will the real president please stand up?

  6. Sepiso you will be our next Deputy Commissioner of Police, these are the officers we need who are non partisan. The whole reports makes you sad to see these men in suits and find out that they are still savages like their boss in plot 1 whom God has judged and now can not even walk out of his Prison, even those at Mukobeko at least go out to work the farms unlike this one who is paying for his sins in State House. Your sins will indeed find you so the Good book says.

    • I agree Nkembo. Once this hopeless party leaves and we have normal people at the helm of leadership, Sepiso’s gallantry will need to be rewarded.

  7. Now this video and police report proves beyond any reasonable doubts that PF is a violent party. One can just imagine what goes on in most of those police posts that are manned by known PF cadres. With this scenario in mind one has to believe the warning given by the American embassy that there will be violence in the coming general or presidential bye elections.

  8. that PF is a violent party is an understatement. even in mangango, they used the Chief (Luampa MP’s brother) to malign the UPND that its UPND who were violent. for those who read the post there was even a screaming headline that UPND had attacked a chief but conveniently forgot to mention what his palace was being used for. the day of voting all the DCs were missing in the PDCC meeting as they were all in Mangango. now as civil servants what were they doing there? we are being ruled by thugs. i also feel the opposition react to these attacks as used to happen to PF when they were in opposition because ZP is being threatened with dismissals. this country for sure is headed for worse violence going by the reports we are now getting. people are protecting what they are looting.

  9. From the video clip it’s obvious the Police lack professional skills in negotiations. It’s like they were the ones aggravating the situation.Who was in command at this time?
Come 2016,in-service training will be organized to have them trained again.

  10. Well done, High Court Judge Dominic Sichinga for acquitting Mr Isaac Zulu who was accused of murdering Mr Menyani Zulu. His family now know the truth and hope they will find peace. PF MUST COMPENSATE THEIR LOSS. There must be legal action taken against those who killed him.

Zambia needs a strong legal body and all of the law enforcing community to act to SAVE us from these political party lunatics no matter which party is in power.

    Zambian comical grammar, 4th paragraph….!
‘Where Mr Mfune was being buttered!’ Which end, please tell! Where is Evans Mfula of Evaduco on the one and only time he is wanted!

  11. Tha watchdog reported about this months back. You gata believe tha dogs those dogs! By the way what happened to Namakando’s ‘Alex this Alex that and Alex the revolutionary with no qualification?

  12. I remember reading this sequence of events and watching the video on Zambian watchdog months ago. It made my blood boil. I am happy an innocent man has been vindicated.
