INSPECTOR General of Police Stella Libongani has assured Zambians and political parties taking part in the September 11, parliamentary by-elections that police will ensure that the law is applied fairly and equally.

Ms Libongani has also warned that lawlessness would not be tolerated during or after the elections and that the police was interested in seeing to it that electorate are allowed to cast their votes without intimidation.

She warned that those found wanting would face the wrath of the law.

Speaking in Kabwe yesterday before addressing officers tasked to monitor the activities during the Mkushi by-elections, Ms Libongani said the police had committed itself to ensure that the law was applied fairly and that lawlessness would not be tolerated.

She said the public should not feel threatened by the presence of police officers but instead feel protected considering that there duty was to maintain law and order.

She said currently the police command had already deployed mobile unit officers because in some areas, local officers were unable to carry out surveillance operations.

“I want to state that as police we are committed to ensuring law and order prevails during the upcoming elections and we are ready to handle any situation that may arise but I am confident that the elections will be peaceful, “she said.

She said officers would remain vigilant and professional in their conduct but cautioned the political cadres against causing confusion.

She however, commended the political parties for the peaceful campaigns exhibited so far.

Ms Libongani was expected to meet police officers deployed in various centres to finalize the way forward and to hear challenges faced since their deployment i Mkushi south.

Five constituencies go to the polls on September11, this year. The five are Kasenengwa, Vubwi, Zambezi West, Solwezi central and Mkushi South.

  1. Hypocrite; she allows PF to murder people during election campaigns and despite knowing who the true murderers are she arrests opposition members.

    • We have heard these assurances several times but what happens on the ground is exactly the opposite. Arresting people who take complaints to the police is the same as locking up a woman in police cells who went to police to report that she was raped. Action speaks louder than press briefings.

    • @Kay those scream for nothing, support your fellow women. Libongani has been commendable as IG. She has exhibited maturity at its highest, she respects herself and leaders like HH.

  2. Zambians should praise God that Ba Sata fell sick (now recovered) and found grace in his heart during that trying times. He repented of most of his sins, first he took his evil behavior away from camera and streets. No more insulting his fellow men, ministers.
And second he reconciled with God and took away Kabimba from the streets of Zambia.
Please Ba Sata consider more thugs out, such as Mwaliteta, Judge Ngoma, ka Masumba, tell them to hand-over guns to Libongani.
Zambia is getting saved day by day.

  3. JUST BECAUSE WYNTER IS GONE YOU NOW HAVE THE GATS TO PROMISE THE ZAMBIAN PEOPLE A FREE TRIAL WHEN YOU PERSONALLY SAW WHAT HAPPENED IN MANGANGO AND YET YOU DID NOTHING. PLEASE SERVE THE PEOPLE OF ZAMBIA AS PROFESSIONALS NOT AFTER GAINING POLITICAL MILEAGE. YOU ARE A ONE SIDED PERSON WHO ONLY REACTS WHEN THE OPPOSITION REACT AND IF ITS THE PF CADERS YOU SILENCED. GROW UP THESE JOBS ARE NOT PERMANENT, LOOK AT KABIMBA.

  4. How many times has this Libongani talked about the police being fair and professional but ended up dancing to the tune of the ruling party cadres? We know that those are empty pronouncements because we know Libongani herself is not professional; she is heavily compromised because the PF top thugs always give her orders to instruct the police to harass the opposition. Even this time around those who cause violence are PF cadres but nothing will be done to them because Libongani fears for her job to arrest them. Its better she shuts her mouth other than being hypocritical. She has never arrested any PF hoodlums despite evidence of violence being led bare before the police. So, what is she saying now? She thinks she can fo.ol people? Far from it. We know her incompetence. So just shut up fu.

  5. This is sick SATA for u. I have always condemned this thug SATA. Now with his dementia eating him, more strange firing and demotion will happen.

Dont be suprized if SATA fires Guy Scott and appoints Wynter Maize Kabimba Vice President.

This is Zambia, a country ruled by a dead man as President.

  6. Libongani used to stay with Inutu Suba the PS. That was the time Suba was being screwed by SATA and sired a child together with Suba (Sata was even married to someone else that time NOT to Kaseba the husband snatcher).

What can ka Libongani tell us. Stupid cow. The orgies she was listening when Suba and SATA were eating each other are confusing her and her judgement.

  7. The IG is right the law should be applied squarely during elections ONLY after that as usual the rich have their OWN law and the poor Too. The Liatos can hide 500backs scot free, Andrew Banda corrupt scot free, Mpombo corrupt scot free, But Kanene who just put things where they belong JAILED

  8. The Police Force (PF?) is compromised. They are cadres in uniform. And Libongami sounds more and more like a double-faced politician. – she says nice words but conducts and condones evil acts.

  9. with all due respect madam I.G we have heard all those empty promises before; the police service protects only the PF party and do us a favour ma am, keep OBVIOUS MWALITETA away from the election places; he is a thug.
