President Michael Sata’s eldest son Mulenga has assured that his father is well in New York contrary to online and international media reports insinuating that he is dead.

Mr Sata who is also Lusaka City Mayor told media briefing at his office today that he personally spoke to President Sata and First Lady Christine Kaseba on phone from New York this morning at 07:00 Hrs and they confirmed that the Head of State is well.

“I wish to inform the nation and the world at large that His Excellence the President Mr Michael Chilufya Sata is well in New York contrary to the online and international media reports insinuating that the President has been hospitalised,” Mr Sata said.

He said the President expressed regret at the unfortunate reports being circulated concerning his health and he has since urged Zambians to remain calm and united.

“President Sata will issue a statement from New York in due course,” Mr Sata said.

  1. A lie is too sweet to haters, chancers and hypocrites. While the truth is putting on shoes, the lie will have traveled around he world. The only consolation is that the truth remains forever regardless of who aid it while the lie disappears quickly to look for more cover ups.

    • I’m not one of those who want ny old man dead or wish him sick, but H.E. was on the phone with the young man at 1am NY time :/ Sweet

    • Ati ‘kicking’, more like thrashing about in pain. Try to read as i might, i have not seen one credible explanation from any govt official or PF cadre on why he did not address the UN or why he does not appear on any of the pictures posted on LT from Newyork.

    • Folks

Jokes aside. Its time to be calm and encourage each other that all will be fine should nature take its course. Lets remain focussed on what the country needs to achieve and take each day as it comes.

Anything is highly possible anytime from now.

    • ONLY THE FREEMASON HH AND HIS WELL PAID ONLINE MEDIA ,ARE DREAMING THAT THIS TO HAPPEN TO THE PRESIDENT.HH,YOU WHO BECAME RICH AFTRE MAZOKA’S DEATH SHOULD KNOW THAT LIFE BELONGS TO GOD.WE KNOW THAT YOU DON T BELIEVE IN OUR JESUS……BUT WE DO AS MCS BELIEVES IN JESUS

    • Ba Sata did not go to NY for the UN assembly, he went for treatment at a top hospital, Sloan Kettering to be exact, occupied by top notch oncologists which is a good move!

Why are you all complaining? He will come back stronger to lead Zambia for another 6 years.

    • Mulenga Sata, we all know you want the presidency and sorry for you time is running out. Sata is not dead, but he is unwell. He didn’t attend any of the sessions at the UNGA. He delegated all of them but the speech at general assembly is not to be delegated. So what do you have to say about that?
The whole NYPD has no reason to lie on a simple president from a third world country. The fact remains your father was treated at his hotel room. As a matter of fact ZWD the one you are accusing of spreading the lie didn’t have that story. It was ABCNEWS, AP, NEWSWEEK, VOA; and if you can read, none of these sources categorically said he was dead. These news agencies verify their stories before they go to print. They are very credible and would never quote ZWD!

    • I m waiting for a statement from ED Lungu and Chikwanda about Sata ‘s health status.
These are the only two I can believe. The rest yapping are all liars.

    • I don’t accept cheap reports that our president is well.we all so him in parliament he was not well and fact that he failed address the general assembly is a strong indicator the president is not well.He may be a live ,but the truth is that is not well. The reporters in USA are not like those in Zambia they verify reports before airing them.So what Mulenga is saying all reporters are liars. The should be some truth but certainly he may be live but not too well.

  2. Thank you for the good news. It is not over until God says it is over. All those wishing the President ill, may the same happen to you and your beloved ones. For the same measure you treat others so shall it be done to you.

  3. I think the International Media did indicate that report of his death was UNCONFIRMED. They have also corrected the earlier assertion that Sata was hospitalized. Now let,s address the real news in all this chaos, Sata was treated by Doctor’s from the State Department in his hotel room. Give us more information about the presence of a medical team in his room, not jumping on these false death stories to run away from the real issue.

  4. Only hope this is true. No right thinking Zambian would wish the president dead considering it’s economic and political consequences.
However, some of us are getting concerned because even Rupiah Banda lied to the nation that he had personaly talked to Levy mwanawasa from France, When in the actual sence the man was already embalmed.

    • Don`t say no right thinking Zambian would want him dead. They are a lot. You can just tell by the number of people that will dislike any post wishing Sata to be in perfect health. Humans are heartless beings. We are all insensitive at the end of the day, it is in our nature.

    • @Spintos, you don’t need to be a social science expert to know that when you starve a people of information they will speculate. What is going on at the moment is that most of your bloggers have known relatives or people who have looked and sounded like your President and THEY WERE ILL (or sick, if you wish to use that term). So when you keep saying he is well when the American media reports he was treated (plus missing ALL sessions at the UNGA), cynical sarcasm takes root!

  5. The fact is something happened that resulted in all these speculations doing the rounds. Let him speak for himself in order to quell all these perceived rumours. MCS has always quoted confusion and controversy. How can you pray for someone who is living in denial.

  6. Ba Mulenga bufi bulaya nokubweela, SATA went to attend UN Sumit but since he arrived in NEW YORK he has not attended any session of the SUMMIT he is just in his Hotel Room according to George Chellah, how can a fit man just hide in the Hotel? So which means he went for another holiday with delegation of 38, this worst of misuse of public funds SATA will answer one day. Mulenga you are not being fair to the online media u cant accuse them on this story because it was American News I was just reading it on VOA News on http://www.voiceofamerica.com it is one of the headlines on Africa news so how does online media who are also just quoting from those sources be blamed by you to mislead the nation? Please stop shifting blame on innocent media its you family members who allowed him to go.

  7. Why can’t Mulenga focus on clearing the enormous pimple on his forehead? It speaks louder than the article!

    • As kids humans focus on each others physical features out of the need to feel secure in the uniformity of the crowd. Its not uncommon at this stage to laugh or snigger at anyone different. But as you mature you should grow out of this having known it is the inner part of the human we need to be concerned with. Anyone who jokes about body features and one who finds this funny are both severely mentally retarded.

  8. This will stay with him for the rest of his life; Lying about his own fathers status. Very seriuos offence to his own morality.

    • I meant our free mason, tribal under5 HH celebrating in the road that goes to the State House. What sort of the man is this one, Hakainde??? He is very strange. No wonder he poisoned Andy to take over UPND.

  9. This is beginning to be stupid, if the president is well why cant he make it very easy for all you blind defenders by being in public and carrying out his work.

  10. Mulenga should not expect sympathy when the mortal finally departs in the midst of lies that he’s enjoying the best of health. Why is it so hard to say the mortal is sick but we are getting him the best medical care and praying for his recovery. It is time you muppets accepted that Sata is a mortal, an aged one for that matter. There comes a time when mortals die. For all of us mortals it is just a question of when, not if we will die. Sata is no exception.

  11. Thanks Mulenga for the update. However, if I were you, I would not have allowed the old man to travel. Again if I were you, I would have passed the statement you have issued to the Acting President or the Vice President to make the announcement or is it to quell the adverse rumours. The office your father occupies makes him more of father of the nation than father of the few. Again if I were you, I would not issue any more statements on this matter. We do have Govt spokesman and other Govt communication channels. You are likely to cause leadership tension within PF. Whatever the Lord decides, we will accept and we will not question his decision as we have no right to do so.

  12. We must have his personal statement sooner rather than later. In fact it it ought to have been given by now.

It is unfortunate he was not able to give his speech. This could be the spark to these horrible rumours.

It’s just becoming uncomfortable and hard to sustain support. None the less we lift him up for full wellness, and blessed health. May God grant him safety, and protect him from the barbs of fickle man. Amen.

  13. Zambians, Zambians. This is disgusting. Why don’t you just report things as they are PLEASE! That voice in parliament and those looks would not surprise anyone if they heard what is circulating on American media! Just man up and let us know he is UNWELL!!!!!!!! Do something right FOR ONCE IN YOUR FCUKING LIVES!!!

  14. I find the mindset of these people who should have the best interest and well-being of President Sata at heart quite incorrigible. It is obvious that the President did not travel to New York to watch UN general assembly proceedings from a hotel room. These leeches are simply in miserable denial because everyone can see that Mr Sata is clearly unwell. How long can they hope to keep up this charade. What the President needs most right now a is period of recuperation away from the pressures of his office, instead of making him pretend to the world that all is well.It is cruel.Shame on them.

  15. Same Story different reporter: The son of Zambian President Michael Sata says his father is “well” following reports that he was treated by doctors in New York, where he failed to give a scheduled address at the United Nations.

Mulenga Sata, mayor of the Zambian capital of Lusaka, said he spoke Friday morning to the 77-year-old president, who has struggled with health problems and has made few public appearances in recent months.

Michael Sata had flown to New York from Lusaka to attend the annual gathering of world leaders at the U.N. General Assembly. He did not deliver a planned address to the 193-member world body on Wednesday.

Police in New York say Sata was treated in his New York hotel room by doctors but was not hospitalized.

  16. sata will die but not this time and that MAN will never be president even if sata died today. so painful has it may be accept it

  17. No one wishes our head of state dead but we know he is ailing and needs to rest so that he can recover fully.
Its not rocket science to know whether he is well or not. The truth is clear

  18. Ba swine, your father is well! Really Mulenga? Please tell us your father is not dead because every normal thinking person in the country knows MCS is not well, no wonder he received treatment in the hotel room. Is it really embarrassing to accept that yes he is sick?
