British High Commissioner James Thornton has paid tribute to the late President, Michael Chilufya Sata.

Mr Thornton said,“It is with great sadness that I have learned of the death of His Excellency the President.

Michael Sata was a veteran politician who served in a variety of government positions, and as a tenacious opposition leader, before becoming President in 2011. He was a man who cared deeply about the people of Zambia and about the country’s development. During his Presidency Zambia continued its rapid economic growth. His government invested heavily in developing Zambia’s infrastructure, and has made some good recent progress in areas such as civil service reform. His Government was particularly active in promoting the rights of women and girls.”

    • Its unbelievable, but, he is gone madam. Now its God to judge him. If he was righteous its eternal joy for him but if he was not righteous its eternal sorrow for him. Lets also prepare for our departure by humbling ourselves before God.My condolences to the Sata`s family. My prayer is God to give us a humble president in January, 2015.

    • I am just wondering what Kabimba is thinking. But one thing for sure, Kabimba must be rejoicing inside. On the other hand, he is sad that he wished he was still PF SG, Justice Minister and probably Acting President this time around. He was going to take over easily.
But the way fate is, it was not meant to be. Its Edgar Lungu’s time.

  1. We are sad at the loss of President Sata’s life.He showed us what that persistence pays off. I’m just sad at the legacy he left.He fought so hard and long and when he finally stepped into state house his health just deteriorated. What does it profit a man to gain the whole world yet lose his soul?

    • @Ex-moma…. I know you are mourning, but what you wrote is “ichimbo chamalilo”.
I think he achieved alot and alot … many would say he was more productive in opposition. Fact.
But forget about his politics, think of him as a man who lived his life more than required. I will not be surprised that he has more than 20 children.

  2. Sad for Mother Zambia…… we Always seem to carry this curse of shipping our heads of state as cargo, atleast this time we are informed on time. Otherwise, let’s hope our loss is a gain in a positive way. GBYS Sata.

    • Stop that, you keep bring up Lungu Lungu, its f###king annoying.
Just mourn a man, a father and human being for a day.
Are those the questions you were asking the day your father died, that hoooo so now Ba Petelo will marry my mother.

  3. MHSRP! However, the era has begun for undoing all what Sata stood for- tribalism, corruption, and violence. It is now time to distribute the national cake equitably and to demolish the evil cartel that has been hijacking presidents once and for all. It is time to deliver a people driven constitution now. Lastly whoever takes over from the opposition, except for the proven bad leaders from MMD, will be better. The PF leaders will be just up to concealing the massive corruption perpetuated during Sata’s rule (maintaining the status quo) and are therefore extremely undesirable.

  4. Sad that we have lost a president as a nation.
I’ll never sing praises of a dead person I never praised when he was alive. Sata made a lot of legal ireguralities which cannot be covered by his death, the most enduring being the apointment of Guy Scott as vice president. Now that he has died, the consitution demands that the vice president acts as president, meanwhile other consitutional provisions are precluding him (Scott) from doing so (Acting). Have you seen Pf advisors what you have caused now? We pray for peace to reign over mother Zambia.

    • We voted wisely as Zambians and again we will vote wisely. Death is part of us all and it is only understood better by God the creator. God again, will give us another leader who will take us to some higher levels. Bless be to God who gave us Sata!

  5. My condolences goes to the family and indeed to the nation. It is time to mourn and I pray for peace at this sad moment.

  6. Don’t give him the roses you couldn’t give him when he was alive,he has done his part.Let Zambia move forward but with a deserving and young leader who will carry our nation to greater heights. MHSRIP

  7. So sad indeed, let’s remember him in peace as we look forward to voting again!!!! Lungu should start some move now, carefull HH is coming!!!!!!!

  8. HH will find it very difficult to accompany the body of Sata to all the provinces for failing to be united with him at the Independence day as well as at many other national functions. Sorry about that! for always finding wrong answers with your daily political calculations.

    • It will be sad for the country to take the body all over the country. I guess, they just have to declare a national funeral, let districts lower the flag and bury. It is not necessary to spend unnecessarily. HH can use this time to go to campaign as sata did. I

  9. So sad. Hate him or love him the man had a grand vision for this country. Just look at the infra structure grand projects he started? Look at the universities. Pave Zambia, clinics in the rural areas? Look t how Lusaka has been transformed into a morden city!!
GO WELL MICHEAL…….GO WELL CHILUFYA WA ZAMBIA!!

    • At what expense? Was he using his grandfather’s money or from his own pocket?(Sata (MHSRIP) has left Zambia $3 billion poorer because of reckless spending and of course senseless bye elections in order to turn Zambia into a one party state. Zambia is no longer ONE ZAMBIA ONE NATION BUT ONE ZAMBIA ONE TRIBE because of tribal politics.
We need a fresh start. We need a new president who will unite Zambia regardless of region, tribe, sex or political affiliation.A president with a vision to transform Zambia into a continental vibrant economic power house.
