The body of the late President, Michael Sata, has arrived in the country ahead of burial at Embassy Park in Lusaka on November, 11, 2014.
The special aircraft carrying the mortal remains of President Sata touched down at Kenneth Kaunda International Airport at about 10:40 hours amid a sombre mood which gripped multitudes of mourners who thronged the airport to witness the arrival of the body.
First Lady, Christine Kaseba, who accompanied President Sata’s body together with Special Assistant to the President for Press and Public Relations, George Chellah and Finance Minister Alexander Chikwanda, broke down as she disembarked the plane.
Acting President, Guy Scott and his wife Charlotte, Patriotic Front Secretary General, who is also Minister of Defence and Justice, Edgar Lungu, and Lusaka Mayor Mulenga Sata were at hand to receive the body.
First Republican President Dr Kenneth Kaunda, Fourth President, Rupiah Banda, Acting Chief Justice, Lombe Chibesakunda, Cabinet Ministers and their deputies, opposition political party leaders, service chiefs, diplomats accredited to Zambia and hundreds of Lusaka residents were also at the airport to witness the arrival of the body of the late Head of State.
President Sata’s body was accorded a full military welcome back home with a 21-gun-salute.
Meanwhile, National Revolution Party (NRP) president, Cosmo Mumba, fainted upon seeing the casket carrying the body of President Sata and was immediately rushed to hospital to receive medical attention.
And Lusaka Province Minister, Philip Kosamu, told ZANIS in an interview that the death of President Sata is a great loss to his family, the nation and the African continent at large.
Mr Kosamu said the late President played a critical role in the growth and development of the country starting from the time he served in different portfolios since the country got its independence to the time he assumed the Presidency.
He said the late President will be remembered for initiating numerous developmental projects not only in Lusaka province but across the country such as the construction of roads, hospitals and schools among others in an effort to better the welfare of the people of Zambia.
He further stated that Mr Sata inspired a lot of people through his hard work and determination to develop the country.
Former PF Eastern Province Chairperson, Lameck Mangani, described President Sata as an action-oriented man who had wonderful plans on how to develop Zambia.
Mr Mangani said the nation has been robbed of a visionary leader, a standout politician and a humble servant of the people who served the country with honour and dignity.
He also stated that it is phenomenon to reminisce President Sata’s journey to the Presidency since he formed his own political party in 2001 with just a handful of people with him.
Mr Mangani said these are virtues which the young generation of today need to emulate for them to be able to contribute significantly to the development of the country.
He urged Zambians and the PF as a party to remain peaceful as they celebrate President Sata’s life as a way of honouring the legacy that he has left behind.
And Luangwa District Commissioner, Eunie Mumba, said the people of Luangwa district will fondly remember President Sata for the massive developmental projects he implemented in the district.
He said Luangwa district has been drastically transformed in the last three years owing to the unprecedented levels of infrastructural development such as the upgrading of the D145 road to bituminous standard.
Welcome back home your Excellency – i can’t wait for November 11th. Zambians need an end to politics of lies, half-truths and complete U-turns. We need to turn a new page in the next now infamous NINETY DAYS!
The people will decide not your insults. Please you are only turning people against your party by your insults and anti Bemba postings. You need vote from all tribes. I feel sad tha you guys abroad are fond of writing things that do not add value to our wellbeing.
that demonic body needs to be thrown in the suers; it has brought evil to our country and the followers of sata are also the devils angels, evans mfula at evaduco reporting live from lusaka
Well God knows how to delete evil men. Let him go and rest may be wedge freeze will be lifted, the animal or people driven constitution will go ahead. Am just also happy that this Bembalization stupidityy he was manufacturing will end am extremely happy also that useless bye elections will now. End PIPO if PF continues with this stupiddy wedge freeze don’t vote for them
Mind you mate, all politician are the same. There are lies and truth. Do you know a common phrase” POLITICIAN ARE LIARS.”It is the same reason why some Christian don’t wanna involve themselves in politics. They vote but will not be politicians.
Indeed it’s a great loss to the family especially when you consider the change of fortunes over the last three years. However, I do not believe the death of Sata is a loss to Zambia in anyway. And as for Africa it is a loss of a comical head of state and that’s about it.
At this stage I can only say that may his soul find peace before the Lord.
If you are going to copy someone’s name at least make an effort to get the spellings right!!
@Jay Jay, yes you guys need resolve this name issue.
It gets in my nerves, my friend is the Jay Jay of soccer.
Ok Ok PEACE
Lets mourn first, no fights.
Cosmo Mumba fainted with joy! What a phony!
@Nostradamus
The only way you can resolve and distance yourself from impostors like the tribalistic one using mine above; is by creating your own Gravatar. Your Gravatar is an image that follows you from site to site appearing beside your name when you do things like comment or post on a blog.

@ Suntwe: please don’t denounce death. It’s wrong. Whatever Sata did, somehow we can put whole blame on him. MHSRIP.
With your tribal nonsense, I would prefer guy Scott to continue until 2016. So that Zambians focus and reflect, as we have reduced ourselves to tribal war which is not good. Tribalism is not Zambian values and should be killed immediately.
Mwendeluweme……. May the angels of the almighty God of the heaven and Earth receive your soul! a day for each one of us to reflect that we are all wondering souls that embarked on a journey to a place beyond! Post all your hate vile on this departed son your day is approaching….. we will all leave!
You journey has ended on this Earth, you have gone beyond the valley where we all shall gather. Mother Zambia was you chosen station, mwendeluweme till all man kind become silent saints, we shall meet again.
God bless all those brothers and sisters who have gone before us, God bless mother Zambia. My condolences to all zambians with Love.
The irony of his arrival is not lost on us,the many citizens whose dreams of a better Zambia were made to depart by his divisive rule.
Was sad to see the man return in a casket. I feel for the family. In as much as we knew this day would come soon going by the way he deteriorated from since May 2014, it still felt bad to see this plane come to land carrying the remains of President Sata who is now no more. MHSRIP. Go well MCS.
When did Chikwanda travel to London and why, when there was already a large family crowd there?
Deja Vu, I like your reasoning.Thumb up!
COSMO MUMBA never runs out of dramatic ideas! I knew he was going to try something people have never seen before EXCEPT I couldn’t have thought he was going to fake a faint! While other leaders are eulogizing our departed President, Cosmo Mumba chooses to faint! The fact is Cosmo Mumba had nothing to say, so the easiest thing to do with good impact is to faint. In the future, nobody will be able to tell how sorrowful the arrival of President Sata’s body was without including “..even Cosmo Mumba fainted!”. He is not such a fool after all!
What if he wasn’t faking and actually fainted? Its not like he told you he was going to fake fainting
lol, i thought the same about Cosmo really.his soo dramatic and im sure he had this scene planned out with his team.
@ Bwalya Chishimba
Oh, please! Our First Lady (May the Lord be with Her through this very Difficult Period) has lost her beloved husband and yet was strong enough to stand there, but Cosmo Mumba faints???? I want the contact telephone for the hospital that has attended to him to verify the seriousness of his condition. If you know Cosmo Mumba very well, you will give my observation a chance that it is very likely he faked it. And ONLY Cosmo Mumba can do such a thing. Let’s wait, after this horrible tragedy has come to pass, somebody will tell the truth about what really happened to Cosmo Mumba. I’m sure Zambia-Watchdog have taken note of that little drama. By the way, I don’t hate Cosmo Mumba AT ALL, it is just an innocent but frank observation by a citizen.
Chitali please! I will faint now! This is like we are sat round the funeral fire! Stop because I am rolling on the floor right now … And the fire is just a foot away.
Like the dead master of confusion, the whole program was characterised by typical PF chaos. I couldn’t resist comparing the order with which Mwanawasa’s body was received with the mayhem that I saw today. There was an absence of protocol and order as ministers, diplomats and other VIPs jostled with PF hoodlums and all sorts of characters to observe events on the airport tar mark where a free for all reigned. Just as he lived, Sata goes to seed in a hail of anarchy and chaos.
You are an evil being and I pray you get your turn to face whatever made you soon. The World doesn’t need you at all
Just like the dead master of confusion lived, his burial program was characterised by typical Sata like chaos. I couldn’t resist comparing the order with which Mwanawasa’s body was received with the mayhem that I saw today. There was an absence of protocol and order as ministers, diplomats and other dignitaries jostled with PF hoodlums and all sorts of characters to observe events on the airport tarmarc where a free for all reigned. Just as he lived, Sata goes to seed in a hail of anarchy and chaos. And clearly, it won’t end with his burial as more mayhem and bedlam will follow once the succession battles in Cabinet central committee resume.
Let us end this purported Bemba domination for ever. Kaunda despite being from Bemba land, practised one zambia one nation. Sata did the opposite. We dont want to feel aliened in our land. Yes he is a hero to others but not to me. He acted like Boers in RSA who feel more superior than other people. Surely, who would think a bemba can be superior than the rest of the tribes in Zambia?
Now i believe ZWD and i declare to be a major FOLLOWER. U GAVE us the whole JOURNEY OF MCS MR PABWATO, thats what we call PATRIOTIC jounalism. MHSRIP
I would not mind a politician who lies. But I hate a politician who practices tribalism like Sata. Tulemi teka was their stupid language. Where has that ended into?
Seleni tubombeko has turned into bitterness.
It’s hard too believe the man coming home in that casket barely two weeks ago was forced by his subordinates, cadres and family to go and perform some strenuous job at parliament and New York, both of which he failed, naturally. These sadists, rebelled even against common sense, for some macabre and very dark reasons I can’t fathom, but that only them know. We’ll ask questions but first let them shed their evil crocodile tears and wax lyrical about how Sata was this hero.
People without wisdom! whos got the last laugh now! It is not good to cheat people because in the long run, once people complain God listens to them. From the onset, It was lies after lies from PF. Confusion after confusion. Hate after hate. Let this be a big lesson and let us learn to do things the right way and have respect for people. Real power lies in the people.
Sata was the worst thing that happened to Zed. It’s good riddance. Me I thank God for allowing this man to die.
Those who want to know the the real Sata should read an article in the “Zambia reports”. It summaries the man! even comparing him to Mwanawasa
Medical check ups rarely lead to a body being brought back in a casket. The concpt of ‘Donti Kubeba’ has taken its full ethos of PF government as one of lies and deception. Zambians lamented to be told the truth, now its history.
Wy is It that pipo were more sad and sorrowful when mwanawasa died than sata. Just a personal opinion bt a reflection of facts on the ground.
Never liked his presidency but you can’t help it but feel for the man and his family – very sad indeed. If only those who surrounded him never tried to suck his blood and profit from his illness may be he could have lived one more week or died peacefully at home. It didn’t have to come to this. For us who are left behind, we really need some soul searching so that what happened to this man should never happen to anyone else again, like NEVER!. Was there really any need to lie and be in denial when the obvious was there for all to see? Just where were his wife, children, cabinet, doctors? Why was Mr Sata allowed to work all the way and die in office? I really need an answer to this question.
You can’t have the answers to those questions because you are only judging by what you see on the surface, not knowing what’s in the core. You can spend your time questioning death in despair, wondering why it came to a certain person in a certain way, or you can just be grateful that YOU are still strong enough to survive and move on.. because the fact is that everyone will have to die at some point.
Suntwe and the rest of you posting nonsensical statements should feel ashamed of yourselves. You don’t have bullet proof lives or you are so clever, life is so short for all of us and be mindful of what you write because next will be you. Death can strike at any time, let us learn to have kind words & respect especially for servants who sacrificed for our Mother Zambia.
@Chikamone
No body is wishing Sata dead (He is dead already) as if we wont face our moment. We know we will and some of us may never deceive or lie our way to lead a poor and peaceful nation only to steal more and ruin the little hope they may have had.
Can you also get some facts right? What sacrifices did Sata make? He lied his way to plot one, trebled his Salary in 6months in office and as far as we (now) know, he was a traitor and informer for the colonialist. So where is the sacrifice here? He was a poor leader, divisive and anyone who cant share your sympathy may have some justification.
Zambians voted for their president – he led the nation to the best of his knowledge an skills..!
Zambians time to vote for a new leader. One that will represent Zambia at home and abroad.
God accept your son in heaven – MHSRIP
Heaven…..no ways!!
This accomplised liar has already joined the devil in hell. Beautiful and wonderful riddance.
@ Jay Jay, Suntwe and the rest of the anti Sata, you are really evil. No not evil but EVIL. Sata won becoz he was the one chosen by the people of Zambia. Your stupid and primitive comments drifts us away farther and farther from your preferred candidate. A person without conscious like Jay Jay Sumtwe are as good as zombies. A negative force that sees good in death as his grand father, mother and perhaps his earthly patents will never die. They talk as if they are immuned to death. So to Jay Jay, Mwanawasa, Sata, Nakatindi, Roosvelt, etc were evil and God said “die”. You will be shocked who will be the next president. If God takes away the ones, Germany would have been gone after massacre of 6000000 Jews. Leave God out of this. If God so wishes he will put a Bemba again. God sees no tribe
Don’t waste your energy responding to uncreative impostors…I wouldn’t sink so low…it seems you are new to this website! !
Very sad, Great loss to family and Zambia. Pray his soul rest in peace.
Ding Dong! The Satanic Wizard Sata is dead. Which old Wizard? The Wicked Wizard! Ding Dong! The Wicked Wizard is dead. Wake up – sleepy head, rub your eyes, get out of bed. Wake up, the Wicked Wizard is dead. He’s gone where the goblins go,
Below – below – below. Yo-ho, let’s open up and sing and ring the bells out. Ding Dong’ the merry-oh, sing it high, sing it low. Let them know. The Satanic Wizard Sata is dead!
God is everywhere. “So it puzzles me when someone says leave God out of this!” The good thing with God is that he gives lessons to learn from. Sata run his race and Zambians should learn from his life. There are good and bad lessons from his life. The wise shall take his best traits and while others will not learn anything and those are the ones who want the status quo to continue
Nearly a year ago, I remember one blogger here saying ‘malilo eve sibaza bisa’. Sata was the most divisive president ever and his nepotistic bigotry literally tore this country apart. The satanic denial by his cabinet that the lumpen was dying will forever remain one of the most shameful episodes of his presidency, donchi kubeba! With all the lies and u-turns that characterized his life, his demise is without any doubt good riddance for the country. I’m glad his vile and corrosive soul remains in England where it will remain cruising the train stations of London for an eternity. It’s a befitting punishment for a satanic soul!
we the people demand an autopsy be done and results revealed to the public as the president was reportedly FIT! So how about answers now from the mouths of the people that were stating otherwise about his health condition?
To all those writing noses about MCS
we surely know where you belong. We will campaign so hard and make sure that LUNGU wins.
Soon yu will cry like babies,
His timely death due to an illness closely related to full blast HIV/AIDS is good news for modern democracy. Only those who cherish violence, corruption trbalism and all sorts of evil will miss him.
May his Evil spirit rest in eternal pieces
