Acting President Guy Scott says there will be no short cuts in picking President Michael Sata’s successor.

Speaking when he met Uganda Prime Minister Ruhakana Ruganda at his office,Dr Scott said the central committee will tomorrow meet to decide the date for general conference which will eventually pick a presidential candidate.

Dr Scott says the PF is bound by its own Constitution and will not do anything to the contrary which risks splitting the party like the case of the MMD.

He warned people who maybe involved in confusion that they will face the wrath of the law.

Dr Scott also said President Sata has left a positive landscape of change in the minds of many Zambians.

Uganda prime minister Ruganda said his government will stand in solidarity as Zambia moves during this transition period.

In a letter of condolence,President Yoweri Museveni said he remembered President Sata for the selfless effort he had made since taking office in 2011 to improve the lives and welfare of Zambians.

Dr Scott also met Chinese president Xi’s special envoy and told him he had a responsibility to deliver a smooth transition.

And Chinese Minister of Housing,Urban and Rural Development said President Xi is saddened at the death of President Sata.

He said China will continue boosting ties between that country and Zambia.

Meanwhile, Patriotic Front – PF National Youth Chairperson CHISHIMBA KAMBWILI has reiterated that the PF must choose its presidential candidate through a convention in line with the party constitution.

Mr. KAMBWILI, who is also Roan Member of Parliament, says schemes meant to abrogate the PF constitution should be stopped.

He says concerns that holding a convention would eat up time are unfounded because a convention will only take one day as there is only one item on the agenda which is election of a Presidential candidate.

Mr. KAMBWILI says some political parties where a central committee chose a presidential candidate without a convention are now faced with challenges.

He was reacting to media reports quoting Party Secretary General EDGAR LUNGU’s that the Central Committee will sit to choose a candidate for the forthcoming Presidential by election.

Mr. KAMBWILI says the statement attributed to Mr. LUNGU was misplaced and should not be tolerated by peace loving PF members.

He tells ZNBC News that choosing a candidate in such a manner is tantamount to abrogating the party constitution.

Mr. KAMBWILI says the Central Committee only has 42 members who would be easily bribed as compared to a convention which is attended by 6-thousand delegates.

    • PF is a confused party, I wonder why we want this violent and clueless party to continue running this country? Maybe as Zambians we are clueless as well, just maybe.

    • why is that Edger the drunkard Lungu wants to get the PF presidency through the backdoor? is that lizard normal? why not follow the constitution so that you get the full mandate of the general membership instead of the 42 disgruntled indivividuals

    • When the president dies the vice must act. this happens when there is power vacuum. SATA left Lungu to act. this resolves the argument of power vacuum. so there was nothing and nowhere in which Scott could have acted.lungu has no capacity to transfer power to scott which was also transferred to him . he was not president but acting one.
scott is eligible to act as vice president in the event that the office of the president is vacant. but he has no authority to get power from the person who is acting.

what happened to Mpombo was f^ckin rubbish!

    • Both Scott and Lungu are correct.
Central Committee chooses the Presidential candidate, the National Conference votes Yes or No. He becomes President if he gets >50% Yes votes.
Anyone old enough to remember this formula?
      Yes. UNIP style.

    • @Nubian, where you writing when naked, you looked down and loved that what you saw, and you think Guy Scott will envil yur Ka..yo?

If you fail to get this right learned Zambians then you are very DULL and only think with your stomachs like kaponyas !!!

    • INFORMATION: MARCOPOLO BUS CARRYING GUY SCOTT CADRES ON ITS WAY TO LUSAKA, FROM LIVINGSTONE

There is a Marco polo bus carrying cartel and guy scott supporters from Livingstone. Let us get the registration number and pass it on to vigilant PF members so we can keep an eye on it. There could be more vehicles carrying dangerous weapons so the police must be cautiously alerted, coz we don’t know exactly who is on our side in the system.

We need to show this poor white old man that we can be worse than Zimbabweans when pushed too far. His farms will be shared into plots within hours. Kambwili, Maule Kaseba, GBM and Sampa watching!

THE EDGAR LUNGU AGENDA is going to shock people coz we have the numbers. Don’t complain, join us. There is still time.

    • ba Chola, the real tragedy as I see it is not that a bunch of clueless hooligans like PF are in power and are hell bent on wreaking havoc. The real tragedy is there are no better alternatives on the horizon. These are the same bunch of iddyots slapping a new name tag on their backside. Unip, mmd, pf what-not..

  1. We care less all we are waiting for is the date of the elections,ah! before I 4get can we please have a break down of the total medical expense incurred to prolong that late president.Include amount spent on flying his family.
We want to know whether this amount was siphoned by people accompanying him or it was well spent.

Whoever you choose must tell us why we must vote for pf after all these lies about the president being fine and working in state house.

  2. Sort court issues first, this time 90 days will catch PF red handed as judgement comes a few days from today, an appeal to a higher court will take a few more weeks leaving even fewer weeks for PF convention. Organizing a convention will take another few weeks and the effects of a convention will inflict PF self destruction further and without healing Zambians will be voting for the new president likely from an opposition party. End of PF, end of bad chapter in the history of Zambia.
At last, at last!, at last!, freedom will return to Zambia.

  3. If PF is not careful this election is theirs to lose, if Edgar Lungu wont be picked ninshi chapwa. It will be tragic for PF to lose after 3 years in power but because you have failed to read the mood and are concentrating on your greed, you guys will be voted out.

    • Umm… You people this man Mr. E. Lungu is a drunkard and failed to run a law firm. How can he run a big entity like Zambia and you even argue and insult each other over such a person. May God deliver you.

  4. Am beginning to like Kambwili stance. He is not backing out, so Guy Scott you have Kambwili’s support otherwise he was going to mobilise the cadres again.

And Kambwili you point is valid – it is easy to bribe 42 as opposed to 6000.

We are behind you, at least I am.

  5. Edgar Lungu and his power hungry group should cool down. There is no way he can just start jumping without respecting the party president. I urge the PF to consider dropping Edgar Lungu for he has proved worse and divisive than Winter Kabimba. The PF who have themselves to blame if they go a head with this power hungry politician who cant even wait a month to mourn the departed president. Mr. Sata’s body must be turning in the grave yard sensing how Edgar is being disrespectful to his long political friend Dr. Guy Scott. Edgar Lungu is very ungrateful. May the spirit of Micheal Sata torment and curse Edgar Lungu for dividing PF and for mistreating and disrespecting the second founder of PF ‘Guy Scott’.

    • Umm… You people this man Mr. E. Lungu is a drunkard and failed to run a law firm. How can he run a big entity like Zambia and you even argue and insult each other over such a person. May God deliver you.

    • Country men and women

Let us not allow emotions in our noble right to freely engage in political discussions. It is politics that at the end of the day / bottom line determine if the average man and woman will afford basic food, shelter, medicine and education.

Who among all of us has never done anything wrong? For majority of Zambians who are Christians like me, we have a Great Teacher, Jesus Christ, when men brought before him a woman caught in the act, he asked them, “if anyone of you has never sinned, throw the first stone …..”

Mr. Lungu is doing his job; protecting party constitution and providing for democratic transition both in ruling party and our counrty.

Let us assume, PF must go throught Convertion to choose its presidential candidate, HOW DOE PF GO TO…

  6. Who will vote for GBM? That man is a walking heart attack waiting to happen. Given Lubinda maybe ‘liked’ but what reform can he make in our country? What drastic moves would he make to better our country? Wynter? Who is even mentioning Wynter? Miles Sampa has no experience, Chishimba Kambwili is childish and full of threats, the man is not sober and would plunge our country into chaos. He has a bad temperament and can not be trusted with the kind of power a Zambian president has. Edgar may appear weak but I think he is more sober.

    • ….I have scrolled on all the names popping up as likely PF candidate…I don’t seem to settle on anyone suitable….its time they did themselves a ‘don’t kubeba’ and look outside the box…..try someone unexpected like Professor Mwanalushi…FTJ did it with Mwanawasa, why can’t PF ‘did it’….

  7. Maybe ka Guy is planning to pull a Dick Cheney move. When tasked by george bush to pick a vice presidential candidate the war monger picked himself.

  8. We’ve had enough of all this comedy, time to reclaim our country & put it back on track. Let’s never a few to hoodwink the majority who end up paying the price.

  9. Have all these mambalas jostling for the presidency been vetted? I suspect if properly vetted some of them may fail the clause of parentage that has derailed Guy’s chances. Just look at some of these guys. They look suspiciously congolese

  10. In essence and in the name of fairness the Secretary General of the party needs to recuse himself if he wants to contest the Party Presidency at the forthcoming convention. As it is I see a conflict of interest where he is the one that determines who and who should not attend and organizes the party convention. On an unrelated topic so when you are both Defense and Justice Minister do you get double salary? I think the man is over worked if there is a real job description surrounding these jobs other than just waking up to read the government propaganda newspaper (Times and Daily Mail).

  11. Fact is Edgar has no money to bribe those at convention. Reason he wants Central Committee to be his channel to presidency. But even in there I doubt he will have it easy. Whichever way it goes Edgar will not have the financial support he needs. First he has guy Scott that won’t budge to allow him use Govt resources during campaign. And is they go the convention route, all presidential hopefuls with money like GBM will not spin for him should they loose. This is why he is in panic mode. Going to court to reclaim the presidency is a way of wanting power to use state machinery during the campaigns. I see more breakaways and all. Clear that Sata left a huge vacuum within PF. Whoever PF picks as the candidate for me will have nothing to offer than just continuing to loot zambia’s money

  12. That’s good for democracy, convention is the best way of coming up with a candidate. I think Lungu should relinquish his position as SG so that he does not interfere with the process of selecting the President

  13. The Opposition do not want Edgar Lungu running cause he is educated enought and well articulated. PF if you are smart you will see this. The want Kambwili or GBM to run so as Nevers Mumba, HH or the young lawyer can have an easy election.

  14. I can foresee two presidential candidates emerging from the two warring PF camps to run for the presidential elections………..and that split will see the end of PF as a party, as they will easily be beaten by the UPND candidate…………watch this space!!

  15. If PF continue to demonise Lungu, I would urge Eastern chiefs to give the finger to PF, that is refuse to support them.

If Jean Kapata’s evidence is true in the filed high court case, Guy Scott should be suspended until outcome.

  16. ARTICLE 52:
    1. The President of the Party shall be ELECTED AT THE GENERAL CONFERENCE OF THE PARTY
A candidate shall indicate TO THE SECRETARY-GENERAL of the Party his intention to stand for the Office of the President of the Party not less than one day before the date of the General Conference.
The Secretary General of the Party shall submit the name or names of the candidates TO THE CENTRAL COMMITTEE for consideration and where there is more than one candidate the Central Committee MAY INDICATE SUPPORT FOR ONE of the candidates.
The Central Committee shall submit the name of the candidate or candidates to the National Council for approval (YES) disapproval (N0).
The person whose candidature for the office is not approved by the National Council shall not be eligible.

  17. The person whose candidature for the office is not approved by the National Council shall not be
Eligible for election at the General Conference for the office of the President of the Party.

This is how Kaunda ‘defeated’ Kapwepwe and Nkumbula.
Sata wanted to be PF President for life so he put this into his constitution, bearing in mind that he is the one who appoints all the officials of the central committee and the members by proxy.

  18. interesting how most of the bloggers are completely oblivious of qualifications and experiences of potential presidential candidates.
why not have these people debate issues in public so the populace can actually decide who is likely to represent their interests. we currently have a group of people who out there for their personal interests with a thug mentality, kambwili e.g. if you ask me, Guy might be the only person with no tribal affiliations and may just help us get to where we need to be, a developed country because we are endowed with many natural resources. we are yet focusing on the minutia of the parentage clause, lets be real, we will be in this same place we are, no hospitals, good schools or bread and butter for all. what a shame that we cannot even see a good opportunity.

  19. Bwalya Chiselema 1.3
Use language that is befitting a Zambian. Your submission is insulting. You may not like Mr Lungu but be respectful.
Its my sincere hope that the PF follows the spirit of party constitution and elect the presidential candidate as per its requirements.

  20. I wonder why all the Hakaindeans are disparaging Lungu’s image. Look at yourselves first bambuli!! When was the last time you held a ‘true’ convention? When did you sort out the “only-a-Tonga” bullcrap, What about Mazoka’s ” a person who is beaten twice shall …” Take those logs outta yo eyes then hit on Lungu’s drunkenness. Yes we shall vote in Lungu & drink chibuku with him as yo hakaivotela humwine drinks champagne to drown his 4th drabbling.

    • HH and UPND is not the issue here. Lets not be narrow minded, PF is the party in power so has to get their sh!t in order in case they piss off the soldiers. There is no bullsh!t in UPND so they do not need to deal with anything coz it has sober-minded and brainy members who see the big picture and not disorganised power hungry bozos that make up the PF.

  21. Imwe a Lungu leelo mwaona amu dribulani a Scott aba…. PF,PF?Convene central committe, lay the ground work, issue nomination forms for Presidential election, give time frame, appoint returning officer at a convention or secretariat.Elect President and start the campaign!PF,PF,PF work up guys!!Can these guys lead us?GOD BLESS ZAMBIA.

  22. A party that has never held any convention going for one. They dont know whether they will be lifting hands or secret ballot when voting. Kikikiikiki, I am sure it will be some drama.

  23. LAST WORDS OF PRESIDENT SATA WERE (LET THE PEOPLE RULE)

THIS MEANS PARTICIPATORY DEMOCRACY AWAY DICTATION BY A MINORITY GROUP.

UNCONFIRMED REPORT SAY LUNGU HAS SUPPORT FROM OVER 6 PROVINCES HENCE HE SHOULD NOT FEAR BUT WEARY OF POSSIBLE CONFRONTATIONS IF PARTY RULES ARE NOT FOLLOWED

  24. ANARCHY IS IN GUY (CHI MBULI) SICOTT NOT IN PF
Fellow citizens there is no anarchy in PF but in the GUY camp. The fellow, a caretaker president whom we cant call HIS EXCELLENCY is a real small dictator who wants to bring turmoil in Zambia. Any blood bath or war will be attributed to him because he is heartless!

Zambia is slowly drowning into unnecessary tensions in the PF because the guy feels he suddenly owns the party. From where?
Anthony Kasolo has failed to reasons and apply legal analysis into issues. How do you stop a chairperson of central committee from think calling a meeting? How do you think you can have support from majority Zambians who are resolved in all constituencies to rally behind EDGAR!
Truly Mugabe was correct, we should not allow neo-colonialists to rule us!
