Zesco United won the 2014 Barclays Cup after thumping ten-men Nkana 3-0 in Saturday’s final played at Levy Mwanawasa Stadium in Ndola.
Zesco’s fourth Barclays Cup trophy came just a week after winning the 2014 FAZ Super League.
Goals from Maybin Mwaba, Winston Kalengo and Simon Silwimba sent Zesco to the winners podium as they recorded a routine win over their rivals Nkana.
Mwaba fired Zesco in front after 32 minutes with Kalengo’s goal coming two minutes after the break before subsitute Silwimba completed the rout on 75 minutes.
Zesco showed intent to score as early as the first minute with striker Jackson Mwanza forcing a save from Rabson Mucheleng’anga before Justin Zulu shot just wide from outside the box two minutes later.
Nkana had missed a chance to lead in the 30th minute when Ronald Kampamba saw his shot hit the upright before Festus Mbewe was also denied by the cross bar eight minutes later.
Nkana defender Maybin Chishimba saw red from ref Jani Sikazwe for a second yellow.

Ba Nkana, sometimes mulatusebanya!
Choswe chenjela, icani takula mainsa.
Congratulations ZESCO and Nkana for a good Job well done. Your success should always focus not only where you are going but also the past. There is no doubt that the current coaching bench has contributed to this success in the two powerful teams. However, Matsauso Mwale (MHSRIEP) also played his important role. Nkana should not give up!
if it was Nkana who had won, we were not going to be allowed to even drink water. but they were humiliated and they ziiiiiiiiiii like a cucumber. accept and congratulate us. we have load shedded you big time. we beat you to the title, walloped you in the barclays cup and you remain our customer with 16 games you not having beaten us. Nkana yalala, yalala. Power yalala, yalala. With this, we have now taken over as the giant of the copperbelt as well as the kings of Zambian football.
