Beston Chambeshi has lamented 10-man Nkana’s collapse in Saturday’s 2014 Barclays Cup final defeat to Zesco United.

Nkana fell 3-0 to Zesco at Levy Mwanawasa Stadium in Ndola to see them fail to make up for handing the 2014 FAZ Super Division crown to the latter.

The outgoing league champions hit the beam twice in the first half and were reduced to ten men early in the second half as Zesco cruised to an easy win over the Kitwe giants.

“We had chances in the first half when we hit the post twice. Had we scored those goals, it would have been a different ball game,” Chambeshi said.

“In the second half we conceded an early goal and that killed our tempo and then the send-off also altered our game plan.”

Defender Christopher Munthali and striker Festus Mbewe hit the woodwork in the 28th and 38th minutes respectively in between midfielder Maybin Mwaba’s 32nd minute goal for Zesco.

Nkana defender Maybin Chishimba took an early shower after receiving his second yellow card in the 52nd minute just four minutes after Winston Kalengo scored Zesco’s second goal.

Midfielder Simon Silwimba completed Zesco’s round with a fine long-range volley.

Zesco are now undefeated against Nkana in 16 successive competitive meetings since the Ndola side was promoted in 2004.
