MINISTER of Health Joseph Kasonde says medical radiation (X-ray) is an important tool for diagnosis and treatment of diseases.
Dr Kasonde said the Patriotic Front administration is committed to acquiring medical radiation equipment for use in hospitals.
The minister was speaking during the launch of Medical Radiation Awareness Week on Sunday under the theme: `Medical radiation providing quality and efficient diagnostic and therapeutic service delivery in the 21st century’.
“X-rays are very important and they play a cardinal role in treating patients with ailments that require proper investigations before treating,” Dr Kasonde said.
He said Government has made a lot of progress in equipping referral hospitals with Computed Tomography (CT) Scans and has acquired the equipment for health facilities in Lusaka and Kitwe.
Dr Kasonde said CT scans are used to diagnose medical complications.
“I am happy to inform the nation that we have installed five CT scans in the nation and we are in the process of installing three more CT scanners,” he said.
Dr Kasonde also said Government has introduced machines in various hospitals for cancer screening and to help diagnose TB and other diseases.
He also encouraged safe use of radiation and sensitisation on effects of medical radiation.
He said patients in hospitals deserve better health care and that it is incumbent upon Government to ensure that patients get better medical attention.
He also said advancement in medical technology requires that every patient is monitored and that it is important that X-rays are not overused on patients.
Is this doctor a herbalist? Who wrote this speech for him?
Congratulations, doc! Keep it up!! Continue making a difference in the lives of patients. If you are living today, then the handling doctor treated you well enough for you to survive. The bad patient is free to be ungrateful but the good doctor will always offer the best service.
Why cheap Chinese products?
What is sin?
Sin is a word made up by religion to define a transgression or disobedience against its god’s laws.
Many Christians point out that the word’s exact translation means ‘miss the mark’, which wouldn’t make any sense because the bible also says that the price of sin is death. Why would a creator torture and kill its creations just for missing the mark?
Sin is not inherently evil. It’s just the inadvertent breaking of one or more of a particular deity’s rules.
Religious people believe that the force that created us is an individual who has human-like feelings that can be hurt by the things we say, do or even think while we’re in this physical world. They don’t realize that only egos can be offended. Obviously the Christian god has an ego and an enormous one at…
Why does a wonderful and omnipotent creator need extra love and companionship all of a sudden after being happy for eons and eons? Why if he has so much time on his hands did he feel he had to whip up the world in just six days? Why not instead make it all develop naturally and at its own pace? What was the big hurry? Because all of his angels abandoned him maybe?
That would be no surprise.
A deity who can only get people to love him by making them really dumb (putting them into human form) cannot be a wonderful deity in anyone’s language, and a deity who can only forgive people by having his only son brutally mutilated and murdered, not to mention making billions of ordinary humans suffer and die over thousands of years, can only be described as profoundly psychotic and deranged…
@Sankalimba, we largely created God in our own image. The true God is surprisingly elegant in His simplicity. That is why very few people find him.
By now we should have been considering less invasive but equally innovative approach to diagnoses and treatment. Now away from that, when do we expect those other equipment pieces alluded to? Can we have them before January 20, or will we hear this speech again in 2016 when a refurbished X-Ray machine is being re-installed?
And Christians are so indoctrinated that they believe that this is love just because the bible says it is. Anyone who can still think clearly can plainly see that Christianity is totally insane and that the Christian god strawman is himself the very definition of sin.
Humans are not sinners. Humans break divine laws for the same reason they break state laws. They are stressed – they’re in a hurry – they don’t think that the law applies to them. In the case of divine laws they usually do it out of stupidity, ignorance or adventurousness. This is human nature. Why should humans be prosecuted just for being human? We are a young race and we are young at heart. That’s the way we were created. We learn through our mistakes but if we’re constantly threatened with punishment then all we…
…..is how to be good slaves.
Ok. Now, @Sankalimba, could you enlighten us about what you are offering to those of gullible enough to follow the religion of the Orient?
