  1. Frankly, NIPA needs to be privatized. You cannot run a school that cannot award degrees. Diplomas are a stupid means of getting people into nepotistic employment!

    • I always thought Diplomas were Degrees without Honours.

Here in the UK, there is an HND ( higher National Diploma), level that is 2 years of study instead of 3 years of a degree. That provides a quicker route to Employment, and the Gov’t set an initiative of 2year university diplomas for workers to get ongoing training which can be taken Evening Mode.

Universities then offer 1 year Top Up courses that are effectively the 3rd year level of study and award HND holders with full Honours at the end this 1 year. This can be taken whoever the student has time.

It’s necessary to have these Diplomas because not everyone has opportunity to access university study, currently in Zambia, nor is Funding available to everyone.

    • Very good observation, well thought out analysis. Note however that NIPA is mathematically more expensive than UNZA. NIPA needs to either be privatized or turned into a university and combined with Evelyn Hone. Diplomas are detrimetal to the working environment.
