Movement for Multiparty Democracy (MMD) Copperbelt Spokesperson Peter Phiri says members of Parliament that have joined the UPND campaign team are opportunists that should not be trusted.
And Phiri said people that alleged that MMD president Nevers Mumba will mortgage the party have been shamed.
In an interview, Phiri vowed that the MMD will participate in any Presidential and Parliamentary elections because it is still strong on the ground.
” The MMD is not a shop or regional party that can fail to participate in any election. We are shocked that opportunists wanted to benefit from Rupiah Banda’s corrupted money.
MMD under Nevers Mumba is winning the Presidential by-elections whatever it takes,” he said.
He said some parties are regional while the PF has neglected the people through their violent conduct hence making the MMD a favorite party for the people.
” In-fact Dr Scott is right to leave the PF campaign team because of violence. It is only the MMD that has exhibited high levels of maturity in this election,” he said.
Phiri said the new MMD is determined to ensure that it returns to government.
He further said opportunists should not be allowed to continue in the politics of Zambia.
Indeed they are opportunists who should not be entertained. It is a pity that we have politicians who do not know where they stand and questionable morals. How do you belong to a firm political party and yet you support other ideologies of opposing parties, why not just resign and join the party you are supporting. Our politicians are lost and just in the game for them bellies only.
There was your Sata but still people voted for him despite being a muselela kwakaba and in the class as MMD MP you are describing.
It will take time for Zambia to have politicians like HH who are principled and NOT practising politics of the belly.
Sadly belly politicians are rife in both MMD and PF. These are people who without politics they would struggle to make ends meet.
So the only thing we can do as Zambians is give a chance to those that have realised and turned a corner to join UPND and party for strivers.
If PF rigs these elections it will NOT be HH’s lose but that of Zambians because he is already sorted.A lose to HH will mean more poverty reloaded under PF. Some of you supporting PF will be the first ones to cry fouls once you find that your job is gone to some one else who never danced and sung for Lungu like what happened the likes of Mwamba et al under Sata.
Never trust a party like PF and think that you will have a job once Lungu wins.For your info, most of you abroad will soon be recalled home and retired without benefits as is the case under PF, more especially if you are related to Kaseba,Miles Sampa , Mmembe and Kabimba. And including all those of you related to PF officials who were against Lungu.

I am just surprised that there are too many current MMD MP’s together with former Political figures (under the MMD) who are now in the inner circles of the UPND party.
If we believe what we are told about the UPND in that, it is a Party of Principles under the leadership of a Principled HH, one wonders why such principled men of honour are welcoming what we have also been told “are thieves and corrupt” MMD?
Reality is that there are no principled Politicians in Zambia, but a bunch of opportunits who will tell the unsuspecting masses, anything, in order to satisfy their bellies, be it rich ones or those hoping to enrich themselves.
So lets stop hallucinating in suggesting that there is a Party of Principles out there.

Patriotic Front (PF) President Edgar Chagwa Lungu has commenced his provincial campaign tours by beginning with the Northern Province.
President Lungu is on Tuesday 23rd December 2014 expected to hold two rallies in Chilubi and Luwingu districts.
He will hold a Rally in Chilubi at 10hrs in the morning, and then travel to Luwingu and hold a rally at 13hrs in the afternoons in Luwingu District.
On Wednesday 24th December 2014, Hon. Lungu is expected to hold a rally in Mporokoso at 10hrs and hold another public rally in Kasama at 13hrs.
Acting President Dr. Guy Scott is expected to join President Edgar Lungu’s rally in Kasama

Be honest, your leadership is on record of denouncing the MMD for being very corrupt and hence you participated in 2011 to try your luck to remove the corrupt MMD. What is really shocking is that, three years down the line, you have embraced the same corrupt MMD MPs just to try and get votes.
So the question is, who on earth can trust both those crooks and your unprincipled leaders in UPND? It simply mean that you don’t mean what you say so long you can cheat the voters.
Be consistent in your dealings if you want people to start trusting you. For now, its zero, you are just power hungry which unfortunately you will never get.

I don’t understand how one can back another party with totally different manifesto. I wonder what the founding fathers of MMD must be thinking.
UPND and these MMD MPs are all thieves. This is regrouped MMD and Zambians must watch out. Who doesn’t know that Maureen Mwanawasa is very corrupt person and does not even respect women? Who has forgotten the corruption that characterized MMD before PF defeated them in 2011? Just ask the Post in case you have forgotten.
You will see, after PF defeats UNPN on 20th January 2015, they will go under and never to be seen til 2016. Can you call such people as honesty?
