Movement for Multiparty Democracy Presidential candidate Dr. Nevers Sekwila Mumba on Sunday 21st December 2014 continued from where he had left off in his bid for Plot One by holding a campaign rally in Kasama. He was accompanied by several top members of the MMD leadership.
In his company were Acting National Secretary Honorable Mwansa Mbulakulima, Acting Vice-National Secretary Ms Winnie Zaloumis, Trustee Dr. Peter Machungwa, National Youth Chairman and Muchinga Member of Parliament Honorable Howard Kunda, Acting Treasurer Mrs. Elizabeth Chitika Molobeka and the entire Northern Province Executive Leadership as well as members from the Muchinga Provincial leadership.
Dr. Mumba spelled out his vision for a new Zambia in which Education will be the key focus to enable Zambia to be an equal among the developed nations of the world. His vision was differentiated from others who talk about free education without linking it to anything. Dr. Mumba’s spelled out his vision of creating a pool of educated Zambian technocrats who will help create Zambia into a Centre of Excellence in various fields.
One of the speakers at the rally was Mr. Kamuti, MMD Chairman for Transport and Communications who had travelled all night from Mongu, Western Province (where he is based) to come and witness the Nomination of MMD Presidential candidate Dr Mumba. After Dr Mumba had successfully lodged in his papers, he was so moved that he decided to accompany the campaign team to Kasama.
At the rally, he said that those Lozis who have decided to work with UPND have forgotten how Sakwiba Sikota, then Vice-President to the late Anderson Mazoka and other leaders of different tribes, were unceremoniously thrown out of a convention that elected Hakainde Hichilema as president of UPND.
He said in MMD, he as a Lozi has found full acceptance from the MMD leadership, especially Dr. Mumba whom he finds extremely accommodating of all tribes. He called on all Lozis to trust Nevers Mumba as he is an honest person who shall not crook them as others have done.
The message from Ms Zaloumis was that as a Tonga woman born in Macha in Choma, she has come to trust Dr. Mumba as she has felt accepted and respected. She has called on the people of Northern Province to give Dr. Mumba a resounding vote.
Speaking towards the end of the campaign rally, Dr. Machungwa informed the rally that he was in Parliament when Dr. Mumba was Republican Vice-President and head of Government in Parliament during late President Levy Mwanawasa’s reign and was always struck by the eloquence, intelligence, expertise and smart disposition with which he led deliberations in the House.
He has no doubt that armed with this experience and that acquired as a Diplomat in a developed nation like Canada, Zambia will have a President in Dr Mumba to be proud of, who will once again clean the disgraced image of Zambia; who will articulate issues intelligently in global meetings and will never bring embarrassment to the nation as has been the case in the past.
Earlier in the day, Dr Mumba preached at Victory Bible Church and also paid a courtesy call on Chief Chitimukulu Henry Kanyanta Sosala with whom he had warm cordial talks.
This is so sad. I wonder if Dr Mumba genuinely believes that he can win this election?

His MP’s have already endorsed another candidate and here he goes campaigning. It is so chaotic.
In any election people like HH do not lose anything at all. Its actually the people of Zambia who will lose out for sure and here is why;
HH is already sorted financially, he does not want any money out of politics but to help the poor get up the ladder.
HH can relocate and live any where in the world he wishes as those countries would be relishing to have him.
So you people who are fond of HH will lose, think a bit more about your situations. Lungu winning does not guarantee you a job at all. Chances are you will suffer just like rest of the zambians under PF because Lungu will give jobs to his stooges and relative. Thats PF believes, in, nepotism and tribalism.
Look at those who fought hard for PF, some of them were ejected as soon Sata won, and endured the same fate as poor…
What is even more sad is the fact that his own MPs have disowned him! Yaba yapoleka ba Mumba!

Very sad indeed…he should just give up and go back to the church or something maybe do some business ventures. Mumba is not cut out for politics and those that support him are just naive like he is. He cant even convince his own flock(MMD MPS) to join him on this journey instead they go to HH. This man needs a reality check. The sooner the better.

What shocked me was the naked tribalism exhibited at this rally, especially from people who are supposed be honorable like Elizabeth Chitika.
If she slept with a clear conscience when she retired to bed after that diatribe, then she is beyond redemption.

Merely enriching his cv, just like Miyanda, Chipimo,jr, Nawakwi, Milupi, Sinkamba, etc.
Here is an indicator that Dr Nevers Mumba doesn’t just get it.
Mumba should be busy engaging most serving MMD MPs who intend/have endorsed HH. Self glorification does not work in democracy, numbers do matter. His campaign without serving MMD MPs is laughable because constituencies have allegiance to their serving MP. Failure to recognize this is as self doom as dead PF.
The problem this nation is still backwards is because we like mob thinking. On the basis of media reports (with particular interests) some candidates have proclaimed winners. Our mob thinking is mirrored in the way we vote. When all say Sata is the man, without critical thinking the majority go for Sata because that is what everyone is thinking. Every has to be done in a similar way. All businesses are for seasons. Seasons when the majority sells charcoal – because there is money, or when all the neighborhood sells buns etc. Even the so called intellectuals thought Sata was the right man. Today the same intellectuals are saying Sata was the wrong guy. Now the chimwela is blowing in HH’s favour and any critical questions are thrown to the wind. Those who ask – are anti- HH.
Oh dear!what is K50 million Machungwa doing? When did he join MMD mwe Bantu? Another kelenka has surfaced! No wonder Zambian politics are a joke!

Renting UPND thugs
Some of you commenting in here cannot think properly. Those MPs and NEC members that have abandoned Dr Mumba are just corrupt opportunists seeking jobs from HH. They shall be sorted out the way Mike Mulongoti was played by Sata.
You don’t know the definition of a leader. Dr. Mumba is not a leader. A leader must always inspire his people to rally behind him.
I would rather go in an election with principled members than ba muselela kwakaba! They are shortsighted and lacking in integrity..These MMD MP’s were voted in office under the MMD banner and it is a TOTAL betrayal to the people who voted them into office! HOW DISGRACEFUL! These MP’s should apologise to the people who gave them a job for short changing them and in fact resign as a sign of respect.These NEC members are a bunch of hypocrites who should ‘die’ of SHAME! Don’t worry Nevers you have God on your side as I would rather loose with integrity than win without it.
Nevers is truly going in this election with FRESH MMD BLOOD and that is what he needs for the New MMD to succeed. It may sound at this stage that this “tufilile munsenga” is the right thing to do but will backfire!
If Nevers wins the election, these MMD crooks who betrayed the people in their constituents should declare that they are independent members and will be fish out of water. If HH wins and doesn’t give them jobs they will cry foul and jump ship. EL has promised many people jobs that there is no chance he can give them a job.
These tantrums displayed by these guys are short lived..People of Zambia, Let’s VOTE Mumba in for a clean start in our nation.
All starts from somewhere. Go Nevers, who knows you may gunner points to second slot and before you know it you are on first slot. Don’t chicken out.
He is a living example of selfishness. Nevers was rejected by the Zambian people a long time ago so how he thinks one day he will lead this country is beggars belief. Even the labour party in the UK made a u-turn on the party leadership by backing a unknown called ‘Tony Blair” ahead of an obvious choice “Gordon Brown” and we all know what happened at the elections. Mumba missed the boat, he missed the one opportunity which would have propelled him to lead Zambia in 2016 had he used strategy rather than stubbornness. As it stands, he will cling on and drive the MMD extinction.
Something doesn’t quite add up.
Knowing that the court cases set him back, why would he go back to campaign in the Northern Province – where he had already campaigned?
Is it possible that this is a replay of his famous NCC? I get the feeling that he is still working with the defected MP’s (to support UPND) by making sure the PF get as few votes as possible in the north. If this is true, it doesnt matter how much we speak against him, his ploy seems to be supporting UPND all the way 9regardless of his reasons).
We need PF out and I believe they are on their way out……I am quite fearful of the cost to integrity in politics though! Our political landscape has changed greatly.

Who should I vote for?? The person who gave me K50 to vote them and later abandoned me until a by election or someone that introduced me to Jesus that I do not have to depend on people but God?
Zambians, please think again- no one can save us but God. May the Lord help every voter to vote with their heart open and not just with emotions. I am not supporting any human being but I pray that God may guide me and many others as we head to the polls.

Okay, perhaps you are only exercising your democratic rights, which would be fine but for the fact that you are wasting your members’ time.
For me, the further from cobra snakes the better, even a baby cobra will tomorrow (21st January 2015) become a father Cobra. And HH is best among the anti-cobra cast.
As for the MMD the manifesto is the same and was very good, infact it is the very one that PF used to develop infrastructure PF claims it is their own make up and yet it is MMD actect. However, MMD has been tried and we have seen how ellusive they were under RB. Under RB it was anything goes. Mumba seem to be quite stable, but one thing true about Mumba is really hungry for power, WHY? If you recall the short period he was given to act as President under Mwanawasa; He assumed full authority, even to an extent of holding state briefings, the more reason Mwanawasa felt threatened by Mumba’s egos.
