UPND call for arrest of PF cadre responsible for attack in Mongu

Share

This morning we have seen the terrible impact of politically motivated violence and thuggish behaviour with our own eyes in Mongu.

After Mr Hichilema was unable to fly out of Mongu this morning due to a visit to the area by Acting President Guy Scott, PF cadres targeted UPND supporters. One UPND provincial trustee is now feared dead after being hit with a plank by a PF cadre in the presence of police.

Mr Hichilema immediately gave a statement to the press on the subject, condemning the action of thugs and calling for the arrest of the perpetrator.

Our thoughts and prayers are with the family of the victim.

  1. @LT

Thank you. Presumably that intern has been suitably chastised, and sanity restored to LT. I’m pleased.

    • Meanwhile, in Kasama a car car suspected to carrying Pangas with suspected UPND suppoters belonging to GBM is impounded by the police and 3 people arrested. Here is someone killing someone in broad daylight and what are the police doing? Socan you blame people when they start arming themselve in self defence like in Kasama?

    • I think PF have taken HH for granted far too much. One day he will explode and authorise revenge, thats when PF will realise how dangerous humble men are in reality.

Such men like HH, there is an extent to which you can push them.

Viva HH, PF are dead scared thats why they are using violence against innocent people.

Its shocking PF has killed two people so far and completely no action from the police.

Zambians is this the kind of country we want?

Those who think that, UPND can not hit back will be shocked if PF tries to steal these elections using violent conduct.

Any way these PF *****s will be whacked stealthly. This I promise you.

In Shiwangandu, Andre Kapyongo, is on the the hit list also. They wont know what hit them. GBM has bounty on him.

    • Pretty, Wanzelu et al. #4.9 I have not seen any picture of the person who was attacked wearing UPND T shirt as you claim, what I have seen is a person wearing a white or cream colored long sleeved shirt. He is not even wearing one of those silly red hats. I cannot read all the media you refer to as I work and rely on LT. Everyone who posts here is expressing a subjective view of what they see, so my opinion is as valid as yours. With regard to violence in other cases, my comment was specific to this case. When you refer to the man having surgery, please understand what the term means before you become too hysterical. For the record, I am a Zambian with no political affiliation.

  2. Police should arrest people carrying out violent acts against their political opponents……we want EL to win this election in a peaceful manner. My prayers are with the victim.

    • Which police? For starters the so called police commanding officer in Western province is Sata’s niece therefore she is a PF cadre. Do you expect the police under her command to be impartial? Certainly not. This is why we need the next president to be someone from a different party so that the Zambian police force ( not service) can be cleaned. Presently it is filthy with PF inluence.

    • In Zambia, do we have the police? I do not think so, if we had, such incidences would not happen. If I were a police officer I would be fired for doing the right thing. I am sure time has come to defend ourselves in every way possible and with whatever means. This is another failed state….We can see our brothers being murdered and we watch, killed like dogs, government no action! And we should be quiet??????? This is what Dr. Canicious Banda said when he referred to buses with money and thugs going to Western and Southern provinces. You will see what will happen in Southern province?????? Mark my words!

  3. Sad indeed. Killing a brother for what? PF, all these people you are beating and killing and trying to kill don´t belong to UPND. UPND didn´t creat anyone but God. These are God´s children. You will answer one to God himself. Zambians 20th January is not an Election day. Lets just call it Judgement Day!

  4. Something does not seem right about the reporting and reaction to this incident; if Mr HH was there at the time as appears to be the case, why did he not help evacuate this man or even check his condition before making statements? There does NOT appear to be any violence between the other people at the airport to suggest that the violence was politically motivated; rather this appears to be a random act by 1 person on another, for whatever reason. Could they have known each other?

    • @Mansell

What you’re doing here is victimising the victim. It’s a common reaction that victims are not believed, and are instead blamed as having done something to provoke the perpertrator.

Whichever way you twist it, the guy should be charged.

Do you think the perpetrator came to retrieve his nkongole and this set off the series of events (at a rally?!) and he thus decided to attack the victim in full view of the police (at a rally?!)?
You wanna say this is non-politically motivated but just happened to kick off at a rally???? Nah!

    • @Pretty,we don’t read news from ZWD, cause its biased towards HH……if there are any updates,we will get them from LT.

    • The culprit was not arrested. AREN’T YOU CONCERNED. He was whisked away by the police. He’s the husband of the Senanga DC

So HH was supposed to administer First Aid, lift him up, take him to the hospital. Sit by his bed side. What else?

    • @Mansell

What ever the case, there is no justification for killing that man. HH is as free as any political leader to share the airport.

HH is explaining the situation to the media, he told his people to go to the air port after the police authorised him to do so, after Guy Scott had already landed.

    • @Change, I read ZWD, ZambiaReports, ZambianEye, LusakaTimes, Post lately The International Oberserver to get balanced news.

I don’t believe everything I read if you are wondering.

HHfacebook, UPNDfacebook, hh-zambia for policies, campaigns etc.

    • All you have is negativity even when an issue is straight forward. Who bewitched your thinking capabilities. Some people are just useless in their thinking. Cant you see that a life has been lost here?

    • Pretty, Wanzelu et. al. No one is justifying what this man did to another person or even remotely trying to blame the victim. Indeed, I have not done so, my point is, could this violent act have been a result of a private disagreement since there was no widespread violence? That is why I have stated that ‘there is something not right about the reporting and reaction to this incident’. My point about Mr HH is that in my opinion, he should have waited to get the full facts before being so unequivocal in his statement. I also think that since he was there in person, and he does not appear in any of the pictures, I fairly believe that while this was evolving, he was talking to the media people about it; thus the comment about him. My nature would have been to go there and see how I could…

    • @Mansell, another question – what did the man wearing a UPND T shirt do to warrant being beaten?

@Mansell you are too critical and subjective in your comment. That is why I have referred you to all the other medias.
The surgery part is actually reported on HHfacebook

What about violence taking place in various parts of the country e.g. Shiw’ngandu. Was that also provoked?

Just admit that Panga Family is a violent party. Face the facts and swallow the bitter pill.

Panga Family kuya bebele there’s no two ways about this.

Viva UPND for peace and prosperity.

    • Why don’t you get your facts right before making your contribution blindly? Let us not try to justify what is certainly a wrong.

  5. Kwena b a Zambia Police, is that how you carry a sick person? Aren’t you making his condition worse?

As for the person who intended to kill the victim, the law must shut him in prison away from his home town, and must be forgotten by society.

  6. Police have said that a group of unruly UPND cadres mobilized themselves and went to the Mongu Airport for the sole purpose of disrupting the arrival ceremony of Acting President Dr Guy Scott. This UPND wanton appetite for violence is reaching worrying levels as attested by the police.

In the process, an identified man was hit with a plank by another man, the two are neighbours according to Police Commissioner Kamukoshi. The assailant has been detained and charged according to the information we have received while the victim is out of danger.

Police here are concerned at the levels of provocation and violence from UPND cadres.

    • Police are ALWAYS concerned “at the levels of provocation and violence from UPND cadres”.

      Judgement day is approaching.

    • Ntimbwi moomba, you are very stupi,d, stop making up stories…

you think HH would go to the airport to disrupt the arrival of Scott? He was there because he need to leave Mongu, his helicopter was at the airport and he was stopped from leaving.

  7. Political violence is now a recognised strategy used by PF to achieve their political goals.

PF knows that Western province will not respond to their campaigns and as a result they believe that violence is not only justified but also necessary to achieve their evil political objectives.

You can use violence to intimidate people into acquiescence but not to vote for you.

    • Violence for PF is a way of disrupting their own rally in a province where they know they won’t get support. Shame!

  8. STATEMENT ISSUED BY DAVIES CHAMA, PF SECRETARY GENERAL
Members of the media. On behalf of the ruling party, I would like to condemn an incident of violence that occurred in Mongu today which was totally uncalled for.
Police have informed us that a group of unruly UPND cadres mobilized themselves and came to the Mongu Airport for the sole purpose of disrupting the arrival ceremony of Acting President Dr Guy Scott.

    Lungu Epulogulamu

    • Davies Chama, learn to fear God. Lying through your teeth that UPND went to the airport with the sole purpose of disrupting the arrival of Guy Scott. I feel sorry for the Police Commissioner Kamukoshi who fed you with lies which you wantedto hear. Anyway vengeance belongs to God and we human say “days are numbered”.

The statement by Davies Chama is on Mwebantu News Media.

      Viva HH, Viva UPND.

    • Its not funny. The problem with us we laugh when we are supposed to be mourning and mourn when we are supposed to be celebrating.
Woe on us. God please give us the fore and hind sight as a people.

    • I do too. Some of the things done and said in Zambia are worse than in countries that have never been declared asChristian nations. The behavior and attitude of most people in this country is not Christian. The lies the theft, misuse of funds while people are dying for curable illnesses etc.

  9. On the positive note, this is good for PF; if a PF cadre can stand his ground in Mongu, we are looking at 1:1 regarding PF – UNDP ratio. This is numbers game.
By the way, the latest is that man on the ground collapsed due to dehydration. As you know temp in Mongu is around 30 – 40 degr this week. After some mango juice from HH, the man is doing just fine.

No violence please. Or dont start what you can finish.

    • Its not funny. The problem with us we laugh when we are supposed to be mourning and mourn when we are supposed to be celebrating.
Woe and shame on us. God please give us the fore and hind sight as a people.

  10. POLITICS IS A DIRTY GAME. THESE COULD EVEN BE UPND CADRES TRYING TO DENT THE IMAGE OF PF IN THESE DYING HOURS APPROACHING THE POLLING DAY. THESE CAN BE DESPERATE MEASURES. YOU NEVER KNOW. IT IS SAFE TO KEEP ONES MIND OPEN. THERE IS TOO MUCH POLITICAL DESPERATION FROM BOTH CAMPS ACTUALLY.

  11. @operation:Owl, almost thinking like me. I have called 20th January Independence Day. Someone carrying a weapon and hitting another person in front of Police and getting away with it? Never happened before in the history of this country until the accidental reign of the Panga Fighters.

  12. Unless a New Constitution is put in place A.S.A.P, the situation where the Police are a neutered Sterile force, serving “The Big Man in Plot 1” shall continue, hence our Zambia Police force not being fit for purpose, & more useless than a sewage treatment plant, which @ least cleans our waste.
Zambia is @ risk of failure & anarchy, due to USELESS political appointees to positions they are not fit to run or manage.
Arrest all perpetrators of political Violence, starting with the useless Kampyongo!

  13. We need to cage that police girl in Western Province. May be she was on her bad day of the month otherwise why fail to act? These cops could be doing the imaginable while on duty

  14. These dull UPND dreamers shall one day die for nothing!am PF supporter but i cant fight anybody over Edgar Lungu.i have to use my card to vote for EL,if he wins then i’ll be happy,if he lose(God Forbid) then bad for me.its democracy so no need to fight!NOW CRY BABIES IN UPND ARE DETERMINED TO DIE FOR HH,WHY PANIC?HH WONT BUY U ANYTHING BUT JUST ENRICH HIMSELF AND CLOSE FRIENDS,SO OPEN UP YOUR EYES!SUPPORT WISELY GUYS!GO PF GO!

  15. Ba PF you have gone way too far. Leave it for someone who can lead people without violence. Its not about feeding your people Ba PF, its about moving Zambia forward. Everyone knows Sata’s family from Zambia and abroad are mostly in diplomatic positions and in high ranking government jobs with no qualifications and busy squandering the nations money. We can’t have this and is costing Zambia and this is the end result you will get…. thugs!! Violence does not solve anything Edgar Lungu and your clan. Its time for you to pack up and leave for good. Don’t be like Nevers Mumba holding on to something that ended a long time ago.
