MMD President Nevers Mumba has strongly warned former President Rupiah Banda to stop using the MMD material and symbol in his campaigns for Patriotic Front president Edgar Lungu.
Dr Mumba says the MMD is not in any alliance with the Patriotic Front and that Mr Banda has no right to continue using party material and symbol in his campaigns for Mr Lungu.
He states that if Mr. Banda has chosen for whatever reasons to support the PF, he should make it clear that he is doing so in his own capacity and not as MMD.
Dr Mumba says Mr Banda should therefore use his personal things and not the party regalia and symbol in his campaigns for the PF President.
Dr. Mumba says the former ruling party will be left with no option but to seek the intervention of the Courts of law if Mr Banda does not heed to the warning and continues to use MMD party material and symbol.
He says the use of MMD material and symbol at PF rallies is an illegality.
Meanwhile Dr. Mumba says MMD Chairman for Legal Affairs Bradford Machila is not legal chairman for the press but for the party and its President and that if he has any contribution on how to move the party forward pertaining to happenings in the party, he should personally advise him instead of rushing to the media.
Dr Mumba says the MMD has a laid down process which members should follow when there is any issue that arises.
He adds that the issue of MMD Members of Parliament endorsing other presidential candidates is a disciplinary matter which will be subjected to the laid down process.

You should then start campaigning for 2016 (Hope the MMD nyamasoyas will spare you). Will give you a sympathetic vote. Will not voted for parties endorsed by thieves. Also consider yourself luck that MMD big thieves have split themselves for PF and UPND.
If EL does not pull this one and PF loses he’ll be tossed out and forgotten together with his RB.

I agree with you absolutely. In as far as I am concerned, RB is a liability on EL’s campaign. For example, Lungu has lost a critical voting block – the middle class.
The questions Given Lubinda asked in the ‘Post’ today regarding the possible dropping of RB’s criminal cases are representative of this constituency. They analyze and ask questions and will not normally be swayed by ‘wako ni wako’ and “I will follow Sata’s vision”, and that kind of stuff. They are issue based.
They many not be many, but they exist and cannot be ignored especially in an election like this one that is too close to call. For now they tend to support HH.

There is no difference between Zambian POLITICAL PARTIES. Start with UNIP; UNIP’s key members later re-surfaced in MMD and became senior MMD (MMD was a supposedly ‘different’ party, principles and vision). Soon after the second MMD tranche led by RB, after Mwanawasa died. This was supposedly a new vision party. VJ’s and Munkombwe-UNIP/MMD joined. Original MMD who championed democracy where nowhere near; dismissed, ‘in exile’, displined,etc. Then came PF under SATA former senior UNIP bigwig, MMD heavyweight. Munkombwe joined PF in power. Now the former MMD leader, RB, allegedly bankrolling PF which he opposed vehemently. I understand and appreciate his argument, but I can assure you it’s not an easy one. Has the MMD patented the symbol and the materials in order to have exclusivity? If not, it’s legally impossible to stop the grumpy old man.
The catholic women society tried that on Gen Miyanda over the clutched or praying hands symbol, they failed simply because they had not patented it.
I would personally vigorously opposed the exclusivity of use of symbols based on what is on the ground and the Zambian political arena. It would be a very painful ristriction for THE ENDOSERS. Dora is MMD but attached to Lungu’s PF, GBM is PF but championing HH’s cause, MMD’s RB in the realms of PF, Kalabo MMD executive committee, party cadres resolving not to support Dr. Mumba and the list is endless. What should be championed is that such cadres and endorsers should use one hand for one symbol and the other for the other symbol. Where one has more than two allegiances they can use their toes as well to support their beloved parties. Drawings may also be encouraged!! These people strongly believe in what they do, who are we to stop them?

Is Dr Nevers counting the days remaining I wonder? By the time the courts allocate a date, his legal action will be neither here nor there.
The other day he was advising Bernard Namachila (MMD Chairperson for legal) to stop discussing MMD rules about expelling MPs in the media, when just a few minute s earlier he had allowed Mbulakulima to issue a public statement threatening MPs with expulsion for support PF and other parties!

As I recall Nevers has made several policy statements through the press including is rebuke of Banda and other party members that are supporting other candidates. So Machila was only laying out party doctrine in the same manner. Howmany consultative NEC meetings has Mumba held since the supreme court declared him candidate? Lastly Mumba needs to leverage his position if he works wisely he could position the MMD very strategically come jan 21 the party will be strong and ready to run. Use your brain not emotions pastor, think and think again you know what to do.
