The ruling Patriotic Front (PF) is surprised that the UPND leader Hakainde Hichilema has already declared himself the winner of the 20th January Presidential elections that have not been held yet.
Yesterday United Party for National Development (UPND) leader Hakainde Hichilema declared himself winner of the forth-coming Presidential election.
But PF Campaign Spokesperson Harry Kalaba said in a statement released to the media that it was shameful that a person in his position could make such a wild and shallow statement that has the ability of causing confusion at a critical point and time like now.

Members of the media, we were surprised that the UPND leader Mr Hikainde Hichilema has already declared himself the winner of the 20th January Presidential elections that have not been held yet.
It is shameful that a person in his position can make such a wild and shallow statement that has the ability of causing confusion at a critical point and time like now.
Let me be clear—the elections will be held on 20th January 2015 on an open platform and not on radio chat shows where Mr Hichilema thinks elections are won. The PF wants to make it clear that it is focussed on only one poll, the one poll that counts – the January 20 Poll.
We know he is basing his highly questionable popularity on some media houses’ incredible polls that are being conducted without any scientific verification.
We know for instance that a media house will on Sunday release a poll giving their candidate a self-delusional lead possible only from handsets of a few paid voters posting their mono views all night-long.
Any constructive person can see that our President Hon. Edgar C. Lungu is the one headed for victory, but because he is a principled and mature politician, he has not issued empty declarations of victory. The PF is relying on credible corporate and internal polls that are giving us reasonable satisfaction that we are headed for a comfortable win.
As facilitators of the elections, the PF will act with caution not to cause any panic that may undermine the electoral process. We urge HH to act responsibly as well, so that we allow the people to express their free will in ten days’ time.
We therefore urge the people to ignore Mr Hichilema’s empty claims and dismiss them with the contempt they deserve.
In the same breath, on behalf of the party, I call upon Zambians’ to massively rally behind Hon. Lungu. Hon. Lungu means well for this country and he is a candidate of a party that has a good record of performing.

Dear PF, Iam also a PF Member and I would like to say that there is no need for our Party to be suprised with the declaration by HH.

No wonder the desperation we have witnessed: Crazy, unattainable promises meant to sway the weak-minded, persistent allegations against the ruling party as though there is absolutely nothing the PF has done. HH should have been more down to earth in his promises. He should not have attempted to deny his links to the Freemason Society this time when he never did so in the past when the allegations first came up. Zambia is for God and not any other deity. One thing he doesn’t realize is that Zambians are more enlightened. They have been through many elections and are too wise to be cheated. Lungu said he has no vision but is making promises contrary to late Sata’s vision(mhsrip) he claims to follow.
Can he explain what he means by having no vision and following Sata’s vision.
Some of late Sata’s visions were:
– more money in people’s pockets
– degazzete Kanyanta Sosala
– prosecute corrupt RB and mmd
– lower prices of things than in mmd’s time
– more jobs
– infrastructure development
These are the things we expected Lungu to follow. But it is the opposite in some cases. It is true he has no vision not even Sata’s vision. He is visionless.
Otherwise Lungu was one of the best candidates. Everybody supported his candidature than other pf guys. He is just decampaigning himself by copying what the oppositions are saying.
HH is a very consistent fellow. He has made a name for his party and himself after the death of MCS. My advise to him is that he should immediately after losing start campaigning in Northern, Luapula, Muchinga, Copperbelt and Eastern provinces. He will then stand a better chance of winning the 2016 elections. His message in these provinces should be that he is not a tribalist. If he can convince people in these provinces then becoming a president is 2016 will be garanteed. Its the tribal tag that has been de-campaigning this intelligent fellow. I laugh to see the UPND claim they have already won the elections even before a single vote is casted? How do you declare your self a winner with a total number of votes of 4000 from muvi.
