Grand Coalition commends State for releasing roadmap

Share

THE Grand Coalition on a people-driven constitution has welcomed Government’s move to release a proposed road map for the final phase of the constitution review process and guidelines for public validation of the document.

Grand Coalition chairperson Leonard Chiti said in a statement yesterday that it is good that Government has finally released the road map.

“We welcome the Government’s release of the road map and we sincerely hope that the release of this road map is not a campaign gimmick but a true commitment to bringing to an end this process that has dragged for years and gobbled billions of our hard-earned money,” Father Chiti said.

He said the Grand Coalition’s position is that the constitution is not just for political parties but for all Zambians regardless of political affiliation, religion, tribe, race, gender or age.

“We are currently studying the contents of the road map we received from the government and we shall soon be sharing our feedback to the contents of the Government roadmap,” Father Chiti said.

Government has released a proposed road map for the final phase of the constitution review process and guidelines for public validation of the contents of the final draft Zambian constitution.

The roadmap, which was released by Ministry of Justice permanent secretary Patricia Jere, will facilitate the preparation of terms of reference for the constitution implementation team as well as to draft a bill that will protect and guide the remaining phases of the constitution review process.

  1. And u r sayin pf is nat workin? We hav E.L,a dedicated, focused, hardworkin and very handsome man.all ur needs will b granted

    • Father Chiti deliberately fails to talk about his “social contract” circus. In addition he wants to create an impression that the Roadmap was prepared overnight for political expediency. Edgar has always been forthright.

    • That draft PF road map and validation guidelines are some of the best documents government has ever put out on the constitutional making process. Congratulations go to the Minster of Justice, Edgar Lungu and his team for producing an excellent piece of work. It puts the UPND plagiarized version to shame on so many levels. Just read both versions and judge for yourself. I am sure this took the Grand coalition by pleseant surprise hence they can’t even bring up that outdated talk on the social contract. PF is well ahead of the curve. Besides who doesn’t know that UPND, MMD and others failed us in the NCC that PF rightly boycotted. Zambians let’s not forget how MMD and UPND wasted billions of kwacha on that NCC without a single product.

    • Zambians Zambian Zambians Zombies, look at the dates in that roadmap. They are not correct especially towards the later bullet points. It shows the document was rushed through but because it was printed on a headed paper with the Zambian national emblem you immediately think it is authenticated. Now that you have borrowed money from the Nigerians, you have just opened the doors to Nigerian scammers who will come and take the little that you still have whilst you are still sleeping. Utulo!

Why did take Lungu and co to release this doc only after the President in waiting Mr HH released his summarised roadmap?

Handsome Indeed by your standard. After hh released his,,,this simply political to avoid decampaign by grandcoalition. I hope mr chiti is not that dull to fall in the trap of PFi

    • @Chile1. Pf is not working because we should have had the constitution some 3 years ago as per their campaign promises. We’re in this quagmire of elections today because of incompetence. Why are we burning a lot of money on this election when it could have been avoided had the constitution been put in place. Next year again we’re holding an expensive elections. This is not a game. Stop this hero worshiping as it will take Zambia nowhere , but rather ask real questions that will build Zambia and yours character. If the courts are making Maureen Mwanawasa account for those peanuts compared to this injustice that this country has been through from Kaunda to date, why can’t we as Zambians? But instead our attitude, behavior and reasoning verges on being st#@! all the time.

  2. This Chiti is a sympathiser of clueless, vision less and drunkards masquerading as leaders. UPND released their road map first but he said nothing. He doesn’t even mention the social contract the PF has refused to sign.

  3. @1.4 One hit wonder, I don’t see that kind of numbering from the government draft that I downloaded yesterday on LT. Are you reading those errors from the leaked UPND document I wonder?
