UNITED Party for National Development (UPND) president Hakainde Hichilema says he got most of the money for his election campaign from Zambians, who are tired of the Patriotic Front (PF) government.

Speaking on Muvi TV’s The Assignment programme on Sunday night, Mr Hichilema said Zambians donated money to the UPND because they are in need of a leader who is capable of reducing poverty in the country.

Mr Hichilema said assertions that he got funds from external sources and that he committed a part of this country to those sources are not true because he will only start signing contracts when he becomes president.

“I did not receive any funds from outsiders but Zambians who want change and I take this opportunity to reveal that farmers and students donated money to the UPND for the campaigns,” he said.

Mr Hichilema said he understands fundraising because he has been a businessman since the age of 26 and he knows issues of investing and being patient quite well.

He also said any corrupt politicians who endorsed him because they are expecting special favours if he becomes president will be disappointed because he is not offering “anybody anything”.

And speaking in an interview on Hot FM yesterday, Mr Hichilema said he will stop Road Transport and Safety Agency (RTSA) from troubling taxi and bus drivers if elected.

He accused the RTSA of abusing drivers.

Mr Hichilema further said he will not concede defeat in today’s presidential election.

  Saying he will not concede defeat is the most dangerous thing he can say at such a time. It’s a call for anarchy. All candidates must be willing to concede defeat, it’s the nature of the game. I wish I could say “may the best man win,” but I know the Zambian electorate too well

..and this man ends by saying that he will not accept defeat in this election- strange! I always say that UPND is generally a violent political party from the mapatizya formula days and that’s why I see this election as a litmus test for HH. This is because the party has more hope of winning than ever before and when they lose it will be more painful and a terribly bitter pill to swallow. Therefore the Zambians will see how much HH loves this country. Whenever the late president Sata lost similar elections he could accept defeat and preach peace to his supporters. We don’t want civil war, we only have ONE ZAMBIA.

Whilst the ruling party’s Patriotic Front’s Presidential Candidate, Hon Edgar Lungu promised to reinvigorate the pride of Zambians by allowing Zambians assume their rightful roles in the economic affairs of the country, the opposition UPND yearned for a chance to auction further remaining assets, back to Anglo American Corporation. Anglo American Corporation has bankrolled UPND’s political campaigns to astronomical proportions. Why is HH lying without any form of shame at all??? If Zambians funded his campaigns, let it also be known that Anglo American Corporation and other foreign companies funded HH even far much more. Evidence is there and there is absolutely no need for HH to deny it. No wonder he is losing, because Zambia does not want a dishonest president. HH has auctioned…
