The opposition MMD has formally written to the Speaker of National Assembly Patrick Matibini notifying him of its decision to expel five of its Members of Parliament.

MMD National Secretary Mwansa Mbulakulima disclosed to Qfm News in a telephone interview that the letters notifying the Speaker of the party’s decision were delivered on Monday 2nd February,2015.

Mr. Mbulakulima named the affected Members of Parliament as Felix Mutati, Situmbeko Musokotwane, Elijah Muchima, Levy Ngoma and Kabinga Pande.

He has however stated that the former ruling party does not take pleasure by the fact that its decision to expel the five lawmakers might result in the holding of by-elections in the country.

Mr. Mbulakulima said that people in the country will do well to take note that each time its members such Members of Parliament err it does not resort to expelling them.
He has given the example of Mwandi Member of Parliament Michael Kaingu and his Mumbwa counterpart Brian Chituwo as some of the members that committed gross misconduct but never got expelled.

    • I think there are double standards here being applied. I’m just wondering why they expelled those that supported upnd and leave those who sided with pf? The biggest culprit of them all is Rb and of course we know that Nevers can’t fire Rb. Why retain the likes of arrongant, brainless Kaingu? Anyway, indaba yako u zalibonela.

    • You either support your president or leave the party.
To undermine a President is gross indiscipline and those MP’s should form their own party and or win the by elections.

A chance for HH to field strong candidates and muscle the power from PF.

      Thanks

    • HAVE YOU SEEN THE MBALA GIRL WHO NEEDS HELP ,HOW MANY PIPO ACROSS ZAMBIA WHO NEEDS THAT HELP MILLIONS ,NEVERS MUMBA HAVE YOU BEEN TO UTH MATERNITY WING LABOUR WARD WHERE MOTHERS GIVE BIRTH ON CHITENGES AND ARE TOLD TO BRING THEIR OWN BUCKETS AND CHITENGES TO WRAP THEIR OWN BABIES WHEN ITS THE DUTY OF A GOVT TO TO SUPPLY THE NECESSITY .
PLEASE GIVE US A BREAK.SOME SCHOOL CHILDREN GO TO SCHOOL ON AN EMPTY STOMACH AND WALK KILOMETERS AND KILOMETERS AND YOU ARE BUSY EXPELLING THE MPS WHO JUST COULDNOT AGREE WITH YOU .
WHAT HAVE DONE TO RB ARE YOU SCARED OF HIM AND THE MPS THAT ENDORSED EL.
THIS IS UTTERLY NONSENSE AND YOU ARE JUST SHOWING HOW FOOLISH YOU ARE MMD.
PLEASE LOOK AT THE POVERTY LEVEL IN HIS COUNTRY NOT BY ELECTIONS.

    • This is going no where as the five will challenge their expulsion in court and an injunction will be awarded, pending determination by the court.
After that, they will drag the case up to August 2016; considering the pace at which our courts handle high profile cases. Meanwhile they will continue enjoying their remunerations.
By the time the case will be resolved in court, it will be time for general elections and MMD will have achieved nothing even if it will end in their favour.
Already they have secured their tickets in UPND for the 2016 general elections and hence assured of standing in their respective constituencies for re-election.

    • MMD is finished as a party. How do they account for coming out fourth in the just ended elections? It seems they want to remain with less MPs to reflect the level of irrelevance they are attaining on the Zambia political picture. Mr Mumba, yours should be scheming how to at least remain third biggest part in the country in the 2016 elections, at least get above 10% of the votes.

    • Any normal person cannot agree with this stupidity Mumba kwena you don’t think and you are so shallow with your party. Please just step down and leave MMD.
Ne mbwa shonse are laughing in the street

  1. PLEASE MMD GIVE US A BREAK WHATS THIS !!
MMD YOU ARE FINISHED NO MATTER WHETHER YOU EXPEL THEM OR NOT WE DONT NEED BYE ELECTIONS AT ALL .THIS IS WHAT NEVERS MUMBA WENT TO DISCUSS WITH EDGAR .
WHAT OF THE OTHER GUYS WHO ENDORSED EL
    MTOLO PHIRI,VINCENT MWALE ,KAINGU,NAMUGALA .
    THIS IS TOTALLY NONSENSE.
YOU ARE JUST WASTING YOUR TIME.
THERE ARE MPS SERVING IN PF GOVT DONT WASTE PIPOS TIME PLEASE .WE NEED TO BE WORKING NOW

    • The MPs you have mentioned did not stand at the podium with EL but silently endorsed him. The ones expelled really showed off. Let there be bye-elections, it is the name of the game.

  2. Olo ni ma by-election ya nyoko……………. let them happen, its been happening ever since time in memorial

  3. Even if u proceed the courts of Law will block you. Who want bye-election whn will ve elections next year.

    MMD you are finished.

  4. let them hold an illegal meeting to suspend Never who will file in an injunction. Then Muhabi will say he was not fire because he is still GS then Mbulakulima will call the caders to manhandle Muhabi, this will go on and on until 2016. please start the ball rolling… no bye election..

Matuka yako niyobipa maningi. Osakamba va nyina. wapya mbuya wanga…chomene. Take it easy man.

  6. This nonsense should not be tolerated. I hope Edgar Lungu did not go with this idea but seeing it comes on the back of a meeting with the treacherous, fake and most worthless Pastor Mumba and the fact that this list excludes all those who supported Lungu, it is clear this is the culmination of their discussion aimed no doubt at crippling the UPND. Lungu should show a bit of statesmanship and rise above this petty behavior. He has a lot of work to do in very limited time and should not engage himself in silly games orchestrated by Nevers who is only looking for a job from him.

  7. oooh my God!! Just wishing or hoping that the affected will commence a “long lasting” legal procedure that will ensure that their expulsions and declarations of their seats vacant can be delayed till we have Presidential and General elections next year! We cannot be in election mood for five years! Can the church please try to reconcile these people,at least for now!!

  8. Ok.but how come RB is not expelled? As a touch bearer its more logical to expel RB from mmd .Nevers seem to lack leadership and i doubt it if he can win this in court of law.All animals are equal but others are more equal..mmd ‘s game.

  9. This will and should wait until after the general elections, like the case of the UPND rebels. It makes sense to just live and let live now until 2016, Former Pastor Mumba, understand? Easier to expel Rupia than people who were chosen by voters. If you can’t expel nyamasoya, then, don’t anyone else!

  10. But why just expel those mps who supported UPND and leave the ones who fave support to Lungu? This does not make sense at all. Nevers Mumba you have failed to run MMD just step down while the time is right.

  11. MMD why the double standards!! expelling only those who supported UPND and not those who supported PF, it is clear Mumba and others are just seeking jobs from Edgar Lungu. The shame and bane of Zambia’s politics; job seekers with no principles what soever. Anyway MMD is finished

  12. Sebana wikute politics are back!!! Soon he will be shmoozing with the PF as is his style of dissolving his party into others for a few pieces of silver. What a mess…

  13. HH to enter the Guiness Book of Record as one of the Politicians in the Whole world to have stood for Presidential elections for over 30 years and not succeeding but dying rich. This is according to the recent proposal for inclusion in the Gigantic Book for 2038.
