Police in Kasama last night fought running battles with TAZARA residents who rioted and looted a shop belonging to business man who they accused of killing his employee using rituals to boost his business.

Northern Province Police Deputy Commissioner Alfred Nawa has confirmed the incident to ZANIS in Kasama today.

He said the named businessman who runs a shop at TAZARA market was on his way to Mazabuka with his employees when the vehicle they were travelling in got involved in an accident killing the later on the spot.

Mr. Nawa said the death of the employee angered the residents who attributed his death to his boss whom they accused of deliberately causing the accident through rituals in order to boost his business.

He said upon learning of the news of the accident, the irate residents then swiftly organized themselves and looted the businessman’s shop and destroyed property worth thousands of Kwacha.

The angered residents were only dispersed by riot police who rushed to the scene and fired teargas canisters at the protesting crowd.

Mr Nawa said calm has since been restored to TAZARA market.

He said no arrests have been made but that police have since instituted investigations to ensure that the culprits are brought to book.

  1. Why is it that in Zambia someone cant successful without being accused of being a satanist, just work hard and stop being primitive and envious. If you are a witness to the so called “witchcraft” or “satanism” explain how you witnessed these rituals without you being a satanist yourself? Your brains are highly infected with poverty

    • I too tend to wonder Spellcheck! Behavior of lazy people who in their self elevation to christian nation believe rewards will fall like manna from heaven. Envy of those that have worked hard for what they have amassed rules the lazy poverty stricken who misleadingly console themselves through unsubstantiated accusations of all sorts.

  2. Medieval people. In this age and time they still believe and live in witches. It is pent up angers or petty jealousy that has caused this unnecessary bitterness and damage to property and livelihood of others.

reminds me of my mum’s house.

There is a church on each side and my mum’s house is in the middle.

Both have acquired big loud speakers to drown out the other.

We will have to learn sign language to be able to communicate while we are there. grin

      It’s the first step.

You don’t need to disturb a whole neighborhood in the name of worship and religion. It’s ridiculous really. I wish they could seriously tackle those churches that turn those loud speakers up at 2AM. Like a certain one near my house.

    • So so bad, one can’t receive or make calls when they engage in this madness. They claim they are communicating with God yet they lack consideration for others. Those involved, are your gods deaf???????

Heartless people called Pastors, disturbing everyone’s peace and calm in homes, yet they claim to be doing God’s work.

Is religion by force? Keep your message to yourself and shut the fuuuck up!

Pathetic country where churches contribute to deceit and downfall.
