Jesuit Centre for Theological Reflection Director Fr Leonard Chiti has revealed that he does not take Information Minister Chishimba Kambwili seriously.
Fr Chiti was commenting on Mr Kambwili’s statement during the commemoration of World Press Freedom Day on Monday that Government will soon table the Access to Information Bill.
He said Mr Kambwili’s statement on the Access to Information law is purely political rhetoric.
Fr Chiti said he stopped taking Mr Kambwili’s statement seriously a long time ago.
‘This demand for the Access to Information legislation has been here for a very long time and hearing that this Government will table the bill soon is hard to believe,’ Fr Chiti said.
He added, ‘I don’t trust Mr Kambwili to be honest and you can quote me on that one. He has a way of saying things that I don’t take seriously,’ Fr Chiti said.
‘Our position right now is that this is the first week of May and our Parliament will be sitting in a few weeks and from our understanding, bills that will be presented to Parliament should be in circulation to relevant stakeholders for review. Unless we see a bill in circulation on ATI Bill, we won’t believe what Mr Kambwili is saying is true. But u can quote me on that one, I don’t trust Mr Kambwili.
It would be lunacy of the highest order to sit and listen while Kambwili speaks. The ldiot is full of hate and threats in his speeches.
