PATRIOTIC Front (PF) secretary-general Davies Chama says there is no need for the party to hold a national convention prior to the 2016 elections because President Lungu was given a five-year mandate last year.

Mr Chama said in an interview that Mr Lungu will therefore contest general elections as the party’s candidate because of his election at the November general conference in Kabwe.

“People calling for a convention have not read the party constitution. They should read it and understand.
“We have not stopped anyone from aspiring for the presidency but that can only be done after President Lungu’s mandate is complete,” Mr Chama said.

He urged the media to stop misquoting party officials on the presidency because the PF constitution is clear.
He said no member has been barred from contesting the party presidency adding that President Lungu’s tenure will only end in 2019.

Mr Chama said senior PF members should understand the party constitution and that leadership is also educating members to enlighten them.

Meanhwile, Mr Chama thanked former President Kenneth Kaunda for blessing the nation.

Mr Chama said the nation is fortunate to be blessed by its founding father
“President Lungu made a good decision of respecting our former presidents. We believe in forgiveness and forgetting the past,’’ he said.

Mr Chama said President Lungu and the PF leadership do not believe in persecuting former presidents.

“We have heard some people saying that they will prosecute President Lungu once he leaves office, it is wrong.

“It is time as Zambians to start respecting our elders and that includes our former presidents,” he said.

  1. So conversion is only if Lungu is to be removed. Chama & Lungu are cowards, why scred of umwaiche Miles Sampa and cool Simusaa?
I don’t think Kambwili will agree with such dictatorship. I sill sue PF on behalf of Zambians.

    • So no elections for ECZ till 2019 at least we shall serve money! Since you already told us we are headed for a one party state, we shall channel funds elsewhere! Vivi the most Democratic party in the world!

    • What rhetoric wigwam Mr. “Chainama” or Chama!

The entire world can attest to the fact that, Lungu was NOT democratically elected, but IMPOSED upon by the way of lifting HANDS up by PF bandits to be its ‘president’. It wasn’t near a contingent convention, like grade 1s when choosing a class municipality.

2 weeks ago Chama has been illusion ting of a “one party state”, best he bestows used on Edgar Lungu to be a muyayaya, or rather, DICTATOR of PF.

Its seems Chama can’t differentiate democracy from dictatorship. Lungu was IMPOSED upon PF & thus a fact. I challenge PF undemocratic PF members to the FACT that Lungu was NOT elected democratically.

Just say PF is broke, can’t afford as PF govt is bankrupt & love dictatorship.

  2. Chama what does the party constitution say? You’re a danger to yourself & the entire party. Continue deluding yourself. I didn’t realise you were this dull! You’re always spewing rubbish. If getting Liato in your corner can make you excited then mother Zambia is in for a rude shock. Anyway continue giving freely as each time you open your stinking mouth, you show the Zambian people how dull and arogant their leaders are. There’s no need to campaign against you because you’re doing it freely.

  3. I just wonder what this muppet will say in the event that PF loses next year’s presidential election. For me, these people should be consolidating their power by delivering on their promises and not looking so far into the future.

  4. I thought being a party president and being a party presidential candidate are two different things? Let me read the PF manifesto again.

  5. when are the UPND party convention? Correct me if I am wrong, HH has lost elections four times and he is heading for fifth time defeat. Does the policy “only a Tonga can rule UPND still stand? As for MMD it is unfortunate they are heading the same way as UNIP down the drain. 2016 will be UPND vs PF so let us focus here.

  6. We all know that President Lungu’s health is not good, and pushing him for another 5 years will not do him or the nation any good, why cant Zambia lean from the passed this man will die in power and there will be a problem again,am a strong PF supporter but i can tell u we have lost direction this all goverment is all about appointments and nothing else

    • Mwansa Kabwe stop hallucinating if you do not have any thing sensible to write. Since when did you replace God.

  7. Skeleton,
Grow some meat on your bones. Leave Chama alone. You must be told in Bemba or even Tonga that Chama is doing the best by educating those that do not know the PF party constitution. You may misinterpret democracy of your brain. PF is a party with its constitution in which rules are spelt out to administer the club. If you have no rules in your democracy it is a pity. E. Lungu won the mandate of being a PF President for a term of 5yrs not less or more. So where is you arithmetic here? A year has not passed and you talk of convention…what for? PF already has a President until 2019 when the party will need a convention. Lifting hands was accepted even by the courts of law. Stop making illogical noise. You talk of democracy which you yourself don’t even have in your home. Shut up.
