President Lungu expected in Petauke on Saturday

Share

President Edgar Lungu is this Saturday expected in Petauke district in the eastern province on a working visit.

This is according to the circular to all government institutions, NGOs, civil societies and business houses released yesterday and also obtained by ZANIS from the office of the District Commissioner in the area.

President Lungu will be in the district to launch the HE FOR SHE campaign, a campaign against gender inequality targeting male Chiefs, in Chief Nyamphande’s Chiefdom.

The Head of State who is the guest of honour is also expected to visit Nyampande GBV project after the launch.

The Ministry of Chiefs and Traditional Affairs in collaboration with the UNDP are spearheading the launch.

Meanwhile, most of the invited Chiefs from across the country have started arriving in the district in readiness for the event.

The launch will be preceded by a workshop to be held at Chimwemwe lodge on Friday.

  1. Tourism minister / defence minister and president for really . LT please ask the head of state to talk about the weak Kwacha. rather visit CBU and resolve the problems.

    • Come on Mr. President, this should have been delegated to gender minister. I thought that her job, correct me if wrong.

  2. Here goes the president making allowances as though he has a feeling that he will not manage the 2016 elections.
There pressing issues which this man is not talking about but is avoiding them

  3. The whole president travelling a long distance to launch a gender inequality campaign. What surprises me and disappoints me is that, president Lungu comes out so strongly on non-issues while ignoring and staying mute on big economic and political issues about which every citizen normally expects the president to speak and give direction. Instead of travelling to that gender inequality launch (which a PS, Minister or Veep can do), he could have done well to hold a press conference and highlight govt’s position and direction on these critical issues: Energy, Economy-weak, Education. The president needs to assure and give confidence to the zambian people that his administration is on top of things. The piecemeal and contradictory info we get from ministers is not enough.

  4. Any excuse to get out of office and go and dance…this lazy bum of drunkard will take up the offer….we told you this man has no work ethic and never succeeded in anything!!

  5. My chief’s brand new limousine cannot drive through those rugged roads in Peatuke. I am sorry, he will not attend!

  6. Petauke is just as important as any other town in Zambia! Gracing at that function is NOT the ONLY thing the President will be doing there but also hear and take note of the problems the residents of Petauke are facing. Lusaka is NOT Zambia. What’s wrong with you people kanshi? Hatred chabe?

    • People in Petauke have councillors and MP with whom they can discuss their problems extensively, and the MP then needs to show people govt’s policies and strategies available to tackle those problems. So if the president is told the problems, then what? A wise president would refer the people to their elected representatives.

    • Address the nation on:1.Load shedding and declare the situation a national disaster, 2. Cancel all the power export contracts to boost power to the Zambians who are more important than our neighbours, 3.Outline how Govt will strength the Kwacha, 4.Discuss and communicate Govt’s plans on alternative energy sources, 5. Address and chart a way forward for CBU and its challenges, 6. Reshuffle the cabinet with special emphasis on Davies Chama and his anti One Zambia One nation 6.PF cadres on the C/belt Vs HH & Violence against an innocent citizen, 7. Fight against Corruption Vs Kaiser Zulu and the People, 8. • It is not about the importance of Petauke. It is about the president spending his office hours on issues that really require the presidency. launching a gender inequality campaign does not require the president.

  7. Some of u just tok coz u want to participate, there is absolutely nothing wrong with lungu goin to petiz unless if it waz solwezi ka,i think muli ba feekala chabe mwaba ifeennyo nga chibwabwa

  8. The president needs to crisscross the whole country – say all you want. If anything, I expect bloggers to advise on places in the country that the president needs to visit in the country.
