President Edgar Lungu says he is not bothered by screaming negative headlines tat e as continued receiving from some sections of the media.
President Lungu said Zambians are too clever to be swayed by narrow minded and deceitful agendas.
President Lungu was speaking in Lusaka Wednesday evening during a successfully held ‘Meet the President’ Fundraising Dinner’ held at the Mulungushi International Conference Centre.
The dinner was well attended by PF Members of the Central Committee, the business community and ordinary citizens and was characterized by music and dance by an array of artistes.
“Fellow citizens, there are those who seek our fall by sowing seeds of hatred and division. There are those whose only agenda remains “Edgar Lungu”. These believe that to win, they must become personally disagreeable. I am comforted that Zambians know their agenda of hate for my person as President. I am not bothered by their screaming negative headlines,” Mr Lungu said.
He said, “We are not allergic to objective criticism but we have a duty to defend the truth. This means ensuring our foot soldiers without exception, have the necessary tools in their work to promote and defend the ideals of the party.”
“The last seven months of my Presidency has been characterized by both moments of success and tough decisions aimed to serve the best interests of the nation. Many decisions have been made by my administration to ensure the benefits accrue to all Zambians. As President, I shall always ensure that the dividend accrue all Zambians.”
He said his Government will not be detracted by their pessimism.
Fellow citizens, a few days ago, I launched the 2015 National Youth Policy with a strong emphasis on youth economic empowerment and employment. Others have decided to reduce this aggressive plan to a “500,000” debate.
And President Lungu says he is convinced that Government can do more for the youth including mentorship programmes to enable youths venture into entrepreneurship.
He said Zambia has no excuse but to rise a generation of entrepreneurs.
Fellow citizens, a few days ago, I launched the 2015 National Youth Policy with a strong emphasis on youth economic empowerment and employment. Others have decided to reduce this aggressive plan to a “500,000” debate.
“As President, I am inspired by the hope and optimism of our youth that if we act together and courageously, another Zambia is possible, a Zambia captured in our national anthem “A land of work and Joy, in Unity!”A united Zambia is possible, free from scandalous malice, free from hate speech. A Zambia where everyone feels free at home is possible. “As President, I am strongly convinced that we can and must do more for our youth including mentorship programmes to make it easier for young people to venture into entrepreneurship. Zambia has no excuse but raise a generation of entrepreneurship,” Mr Lungu said.
On load shedding, President Lungu said his Government is working at more permanent solutions to diversifying energy sources to solar, wind and thermal.
“My Government is working at more permanent solutions to diversifying our sources of energy to solar, wind and thermal energies. An example of this is my Government’s decision to roll out 400,000 solar powered milling plants in all the 10 Provinces.
President Lungu also called for unity in the PF.
“To my PF family, we do not have the luxury of time to engage in things that do not add to the bigger picture of the party. Our differences in the aftermath of the passing away of our founding President, the late President Michael Chilufya Sata were understandable. PF can proudly say that it has passed the test of leadership transitioning without any influence from abhorred vices such as tribe and other discriminations.”
He said the PF is national in character and remain as such, now the leadership mantle has been passed to this President.
“Let me also tell you that it is plainly illogical for some people to believe the formula to winning the 2016 general elections is by constantly losing parliamentary elections! That is reverse logic only possible from the mind of a loser!. You, the PF cadres have worked so hard to win the seven parliamentary seats and many local government seats in all the four corners of Zambia.”
He added that the PF has no time to waste and that the party remains unstoppable in its quest for a better Zambia.
“And our detractors must hear it loud and clear “Seleni Tubombeko.” Contrary to lies and distortions by our opponents and enemies of progress, PF has not drifted from what made it relevant to the vast majority of the Zambian people. We have not lost sight and vision a framed in the founding years of the party. We remain a formidable social democratic formation focused on the poor majority as the main reason we exist.”
“PF has continued to grow this vision and with 2016 around the corner, we will report back on the progress made to the Zambian people. We are determined not to fail them at all. In summoning the courageous spirit of our nation, I want to say to all those messengers of ill-will and hate, that for us in the PF, it’s “Seleni Tubombeko!” Those who seek criticize us from within and wish us defeat next year, I say get out and join your company of losers.”
“If you think PF is losing go where you think you will. For us, 7 wins out of 7 elections and massive defections of new members from losing parties into the PF, is a sign of good tidings. PF has a strong foundation that remains unparalled by any party, past and present, simply because it is a people’s movement.”

Centre,

Oh yes they do bother you Mr president hence you respond to them and now talking about the subject!
Land of work and joy… KK may cry.
Zambia it is no longer that, if only Edgar can give youths at least a National Team coach, maybe some JOY can be restored. The work available is only for MPs, who are fighting for by-election every month. The JOY remaining are fundraising dinner dances.
Spoken like a true leader, now walk the walk!
Edgar Kungu, you attract hate because of the manner in which you ascended to PF and national presidency. Ask Miles Sampa!!! You act like a saint but your name is marred with corruption, deceitfullness and manipulation.
Never in Zambia’s history has a president ever been hated so much as you. There is no smoke without fire.
Zambian leadership should lead that not every occasion is for politics. Can’t we talk about the purpose of the fundraising Dinner Dance than touching nonsense all the time. Lungu Body language looks as if he is worried. Worried that he has not delivered / has no clue on what to do next..
It is never too late, just resign and enjoy your time at home..
President Lungu has said it all with order of the highest degree of unparalleled sanctity and truth and good and selfless Commander in-Chief can ever say to his nation. He is indisputably inculcating a high standard spirit of moral order and maturity. Salutations Your Excellency President of the Republic of Zambia and the ruling PF!
In democracy, even certified perennial losers have a voice to be protected which you are religiously doing by example. Continue on your steadfast path of correcting the wrongs of ages and realigning the country for a take-off to Greatness. Glad you believe that without noise makers around your Presidency, democracy would not be actualized in any country. Zambia is a democracy let winners and losers each keep enjoying their domains even with their reserve…
Very proud to be a Zambian in this democratic dispensation. ECL has said it all with order of the highest degree of unparalleled sanctity and truth any good and selfless Commander in-Chief can ever say to his nation. Hatred and lies have never and will never build a village.
A pimp or President suit is back! Does this also cost ‘$3000 a piece’, Andrew? The speech is testament to the fact the ECL is settled in his MEDIOCRITY and speaking like a civil servant. Let’s have a more inspiring leader than this one. At least RB was more a inspiring leader by talking to STATE HOUSE chimpanzees at a press conference. Remember the KANITUNDILA debacle? ZAMBIA is a failed STATE.
kekekekekek! manje ma botola ya tomato sauce pa table ya ba president shuwa,,,,, there no table sauces bowls mu Zambia???
@Nostradamus
where is the official PF president Miles Sampa in `your lungu`s unit`???
@Ndobo, you win again. You are damnt observant like the cobra (missing Sata mwe). How could you spot chilli sauce and ka scotch?
My cousin Miles, Mulenga, Ba Scott, Shi Nono and Simussa were at a strategic meeting. In fact they were not invited.
Indeed, they bother him and rightly so because he is not diplomatic in his speech. He has messed up the economy and for that he must be voted out. I dont really like the Post News but on My Lungu, the Post News is right about everything they say about him.
Of course Mr president, negative headline don’t bother you because you are asleep half the time and you have no vision
Loadshedding negative headline he’s not bothered. Depreciation of kwacha negative headline he’s not bothered. Poverty levels alarming negative headline he’s not bothered.
What will bother this guy?
Talking about these negative developments afflicting our people is not hate speech.
Concentrate on national issues as you have been. We know such statements are coming from the Post newspaper in particular who never wanted you at the beginning. Just do what is right which people can visibly see .As for 2016 form a strong team which will produce results. Am sure you know by now the MPS who may be rebels but are now not showing eg Wilbar Simusa who criticises PF policies in the public instead of doing that yin your meeting where you meet to discuss members of staff.
Well said mr President. Seleni tubombeko. Detractors have no solutions but only want to condemn. You ve just been in office less than a year but they want you to perform miracles. Some are even on record when asked how much time they would need to make a difference , they asked for at least 5 years. Funny though how on the other hand they want you to transform the country in 7 months. We can only judge you after your term for now ifintu ni Lungu
Glad to hear you have a thick skin ED. Negative headlines bother me coz I’m human. Your hat is special. I get it now… Tis your weapon of mass distraction. As we stare mesmerised by your weird dress sense we will slowly fall in to a hypnotic trance and start to see the world through your shaded faux swagalicious eyes. Smart (insert insolent wink).
Mr President keep on working, when God says yes, no one can say no.
Opposition politicians are there to oppose, but us, are there to appreciate.
We love you our humble President -ECL.
If you’re going to vote for somebody because you think they have a great faith in God, you’d better be sure that God has faith in them. Lewis Black
Okay..so adults too like Selfies, I didn’t know. Ba Kalusha nabena kwati te ba president ba FAZ. He can easily go to state house hold the meeting with the president and bring cameramen and they will take picture of him with the president or better still , win another Africa Cup
It was Edgar who got the best of it ati… “yayaya but zoona ukukopwa na bena Kalu!, nadadwa”.
what time did this white woman hustling n!gga get into zambia from south africa? or maybe i should be asking when he is leaving for south africa.
If you asked me, my earnest opinion about the President’s speech, its well articulated, relevant, coherent and unifying. I have never read such a well connecting and inspiring speech or article from those in the opposition in the past but hate and bitterness. This speech is indeed something I have enjoyed reading, a hope for the nation from a true patriot of our nation. To H.E. Mr. Edgar Chagwa Lungu, may the Almighty God richly bless you and your family and the PF Government now and in the great future of our beautiful country.
Politics of cynicism have no place and just continue with the focus you have exhibited in your leadership in developing this great nation. To some perpetual losers, this is a big lesson that those who know what is good for the country talk less and act more…
Comment:ba seleni mwibeko u r dull u r uluratn jst becoz u av a cut frm yo corupt regim so all wrong thingz bn done r normal fr u.do not pretend one day u wl b cotup with yr pants
dwn.mukenda ubuneke.watchout.
…I wonder how many delegates or revellers or is it ‘dinners’ who paid from their own pockets….. 98% were sponsored…obviously FAZ paid for Kalu……basically us the taxpayers contributed about 80% of the ‘gate takings….
you have a point man
Why do people join politics if they feel so bad to be in opposition? You cannot be a good football player who cannot shake your opponents hands after loosing a game.
Well said. But why bother arresting Mmembe, Pilato etc. Government must learn to be measured in your reaction
NOBODY HAS ANY PERSONAL HATRED OR OPPOSITION TOWARDS LUNGU. ITS THE POLICIES OF THE PF THAT WE OPPOSE. OUR DIFFERENCES ARE FUNDAMENTALLY ROOTED IN THE DIRECTION IN WHICH OUR ECONOMY IS HEADING. EDUCATION, HEALTH, ECONOMIC AND SOCIAL WELFARE ARE ALL DETERIORATING AND THE PF SEEMS BE PLUNGING US INTO A DEEPER SINK HOLE. CAPITAL INVESTMENT AND JOB CREATION HAVE VIRTUALLY COME TO A STANDSTILL. WE DON’T HATE YOU MR PRESIDENT BUT WE DISAGREE WITH THE NATURE OF THE GOVERNANCE YOUR PARTY IS PROVIDING. CASE IN POINT GIVEN THE LARGE NATURE OF OUR DEFICITS AND DEVALUED KWACHA WE SHOULD BE ENCOURAGING THE LOCAL PRODUCERS OF ESSENTIAL FOOD AND YET WE ARE SUFFOCATING THE FARMERS AND INCREASING THE COST OF TRANSPORTATION. THE BLOATED SIZE OF YOUR CABINET IS NOT NECESSARY. WE SUBMIT TO YOU THAT AN…
. WE SUBMIT TO YOU THAT AN EFFICIENT CABINET OF ABOUT 18 COMPETENT MINISTERS CAN RAN YOUR GOVERNMENT. SOME OF THE BORROWING THOUGH NECESSARY CAN BE OFFSET BY EFFECTIVE AND EFFICIENT REVENUE COLLECTION. AT A TIME WHEN INFORMATION AND TELECOMMUNICATIONS ARE BOOMING WE FAILING TO INVEST INTO THE GROWTH AND OPERATIONS OF ZAMTEL. WITH THE RIGHT GUIDANCE OUR AGRICULTURAL COMMUNITY CAN FEED THE ENTIRE REGION. WE HAVE THE LAND AND WATER BODIES TO ACHIEVE THIS. LEADERSHIP MR PRESIDENT COMMITED LEARDERSHIP IS WHAT WE ARE ADVOCATING. NOT HATE.
Where are the proceeds meant to go?
Am rushing outa office and just enjoying the pics…
Mr President keep it up ! Forget about the UPND haters. They are jealousy of you.Be rest assured that 2016 is yours.
Especially those sponsored by the Post.
They will be shocked, come 2016.
Seleni tizakamba ngako more like it… Do we need a president whose every statement starts with “I am not bothered” or “I don’t care” or “They can go to hell”? If he is not worried then why so much talking? He doesn’t know what to do with the job in my opinion, it’s like he found it lying on the road. It’s not about people “hating” or “plotting”, it’s about having a competent, functional state
What was the purpose of this dinner? Were they fundraising for good causes….what type of journalism is this in Zambia?
The words sound like those of a man seriously in doubt of his prospects. It does not surprise me because he appears to have miscalculated the impact of wilfully alienating his base – the PF senior party members who jumped quickly onto the Sata gravy train. ( I have no illusions about politicians, they follow mainly their personal interests but the top brass of the Sata PF (barring a few) jumped in time to benefit from Sata’s popularity and election success. Mr Lungu on the other hand appears to have completely misunderstood the game and alienated them at his peril. It is now becoming increasingly clear his prospects are dismal and the fortunes of the PF party in its entirety are sinking with him.
Picture number 1 – deer in the headlights comes to mind.
OK Mr Lungu, We already know that nothing bothers you, not even the plight and hardships Zambians are going through, you don’t care all you do is blowing your own trumpet on a daily basis.
Be reminded that even hard working and caring leaders like Obama (USA) and Cameron (UK) get criticized by their citizens but they never moan and moan and moan. What is so special about you? Just get on with the work
Most of us Zambians are not bothered with the daily useless headlines from one foolish newspaper.Every day we are able to anticipate what they write.PF is gaining ground because of these baseless criticisms……Its a testimony that that this govt believes in democracy other wise some of these haters should have been behind bars in other countries. Its good leadership for Presido EL just to ignore their daily lamentations without direction of what they really want.
Eagle eye, can you explain what happened to Pilato?
Why is Kalusha taking a selfie with the President? Does he think he’s Kim Kardashian? What is he going to do with the selfish? Put it on as his wall paper? Kalusha get a life you are the people who are reducing the positions of authority to … How old are you great Kalu? And is a selfie great anyway?
That’s that person running football in Zambia …really laughable
This Lazy bum Edgar has time to waste for this rubbish ‘’Meet the President Fundraising Dinner’’ BUT can not host a simple PRESS CONFERENCE to tackle pressing national issues!
I’m sure LT misquoted His Excellency ECL on the number of Solar powered Milling Plants. Is the number 400,000 Solar Powered Milling Plants in 10 provinces correct? This translates to 40,000 Solar Powered Milling Plants in each Province!
I have always championed this idea..you need organisation..Who is going to run and maintain these plants? Is ZESCO going to pay this selfsame company for suppliment the national grid…why not host a Press conference and answer questions? where is this bum getting the money and where is he buying these panels and how was this company selected…why are people so docile?
So this lazy visionless idi0t thinks all those people who attended this useless function believe and trust him! He is very dull. He must know that people just want survival and will sing praises in exchange for a road contract and a good dinner. A sensible leader will always take serious what the media talks about and take measures were need be!
ECL seems to have forgotten that we are no longer in a commandist economy. The best way of creating jobs is to grow the economy. An economy that is growing will demand jobs. Imposing 400,000 solar mills will not do. Who is buying these? Is it govt? Where is the money coming from? Who will run/manage them?
Let’s concentrate on things that matter. You, ECL, brought up the 500,000 jobs by 2016. Why shouldn’t we discuss this preposterous figure? It shows you have no clue about what you should be doing. How can you create 500,000 jobs by 2016 in a shrinking economy? One which is losing jobs by the day? Please be a bit more serious. We cannot have an economy where everyone who gets a Govt contract must have Govt connections! Don’t listen to those who tell you 2016 election is yours…
Mr president, your speech is very touching. I agree with you that empowering Zambian to be entrepreneurs is the best way of improving our economy. Be strong you are carrying the hope of many Zambians.
we we with you all the way
Off course he doesn’t care. He doesn’t even care about how the billions of dollars that have been obtained for nothing. he doesn’t even care how it will be used. He doesn’t care how the previous ones were used. As long as he makes his money and the PF wins again to finish off Zambia.
Well spoken Mr. President. Let the haters hate until they fall dead. Keep on working. UPND and HH are failures who have are frustrated because they have failed to win the majority to form government. And as things stand, they still have anthing tangible to defeat EL and PF in 2016. All they are doing is trying to re-invent the wheel since PF and EL are doing almost everthing they say they can do. They simply have no new and compelling ideas on how to govern Zambia better.
What pathetic failures UPND are!!!!
More than K8 to $1
Uncontrollable Load shedding
Escalating cost of living
A cesspool outside your leading hospital and not to far from your residence…
You would have to be out of your mind to not be worried
“Seleni so we continue stealing”, more like. That speech was written for him, obviously. Hardly any of it is connected to the reality on the ground. Apart from ‘ululating’ on road contracts, through which PF cadres are amassing wealth, where is the PF economic blue print? Where does the PF see Zambia 10 years from now? In proper nations plans are made for 50 years from now! Oh, I forgot, the PF myopic can’t see or think beyond a year at a time. If they tried, they would feel their brains creaking under the strain.
@Impi! uli cikopo nga wiso wakufyala!
ka Lungu this stúpid dúmb idiót, he says criticism does not faze him but he threw that boy who sung a teasing song in jail.
