Siavonga District Commissioner Lovemore Kanyama has dispelled reports that President Edgar Lungu fell asleep during the launch of Yalelo Fish Farm in Siavonga last week.

ZANIS reports that Mr Kanyama said the story carried in some section of the media that President Lungu dozed off does not reflect what happened in Siavonga.

Mr Kanyama stated that he was seated next to President Lungu and that the head of state was active throughout the launch.
“I was seated next to the President and at no time did he fall asleep”, said Kanyama.

The District Commissioner said the story is disappointing in that by attacking the President, it fell short of bringing out the significance of the launch and missed out on the core function of the media of information dissemination.

Mr Kanyama said it is unfortunate that some journalists have chosen not to contribute to the development of the country by being professional in their work.

He has since urged people to respect President Lungu and support him in his governance of the country and effort of advancing the country’s development agenda.

  1. Hope you are telling the truth Mr K. No country needs or deserves a head of state who sleeps on duty. Some people snore others don’t snore when sleeping!!

  2. I concur with you.
Because even in this standing posture, the President looks like he is dozing off.
    This is his character.
No wonder the Past has lost readership.

  3. Siavonga is hot, same like Chirundu. Its not easy staying awake especially after eating kandanga. If you’ve never been to chirundu/siavonga, you won’t know what I mean.

    He’s also human.

  4. The lazy bum Edgar drunk too too much Jameson Irish Whiskey as usual at that silly “Fundraising Dinner” dubbed “Meet the President” the night before..look at him in the picture..you think we can believe a hand picked empty tin appointee Lovemore Kanyama.

  5. Lungu!!! Someone to tell Lungu to stop exposing his underwear shirts to the public in broad day light? There is a proper way to dress up in public even when you are president but not his!! Surely as a man who wears expensive Tuxedo shirts must know better!!
