First lady Esther Lungu says she is in the process of forming an organisation to spearhead her outreach programmes.

Mrs Lungu says the formation of the organisation will provide transparent transactions of her works.

She says she saw it prudent to come up with an association in order to make her work easier and transparent.

The First lady was speaking at State House on Monday when she received a donation from Waneta Empowerment, a non-governmental organisation spearheading the cause of women.

And Waneta Empowerment Chairperson Pastor Francine Malembeka is hopeful the donated items will go a long way in alleviating the suffering of rural mothers.

Pastor Malembeka said her organisation is ready to partner with the first lady to reach out to vulnerable women.

And MK Publishers Chief Editor Agness Nyendwa says the donated books are a gift for the underprivileged children in the country.

  1. Nothing new, we had “hope foundation”, now gone “Maureen Mwanawasa Community Initiative” now gone and Dr Kaseba’s cancer shanin shani uko.Surprisingly all these claimed they were not using public resources however the moment they leave power everything just dies WHY?

    • That child and her mother didn’t appreciate Mrs. Lungu’s fake visit. People in that private clinic don’t look vulnerable at all.

  2. That’s nonsens.e! Why create an NGO which will only last 9 months? How many NGOs are we going to have? These people use the poor to steal money from so called donors and Zambian tax payers!

  3. We have heard and seen this before from previous first ladies and nothing they did helped much to alleviate poverty among women and children. So my advice to you Esther is that open a Banking scheme that will lend out loans to unemployed women and youths at a very low interest rate as opposed to opening unsustainable NGO. Moreover we have too many NGOs that are just duplicating each others activities without tangible results to show to public and donors.

  4. too late. ask vera chiluba and her HOPE foundation, Maureen Mwanawasa community initiative, Kasebas ukala wabumi or something. all sponging on their husbands. the only NGO that survived is Angela Miyandas Kabwata orphanage because it is genuine. If you are not genuine, just be like Betty Kaunda and Thandiwe Banda by supporting your husband domestically.

  5. Why didn’t she think of this before, has it now come as an after thought after the public questioned where she was getting the money to throw around and after depleting govt coffers leaving only $2bn in foreign reserves?

  6. The form NGOs that fade away when their husbands are kicked out….take a leaf from Michelle Obama travels the country to inspire young people. ..its not always about handing out presents.
