Kalulushi-Lumwana draw, Blackpool, Roan win

Mufulira Blackpool on Sunday remained in the race for promotion to the FAZ Super Division after thumping Zesco Solwezi 4-0 at John Kachofa Stadium in Kamuchanga.

A goal each from Laston Katuta, Innocent Mwansa, Chris Chola and John Mushidi moved Blackpool to 52 points, four behind leaders Lumwana Radiants.

Weston Mumba’s boys are now third on the table, just one place below second placed Kalulushi Modern Stars who have 54 points.

Roan United dropped from third to fourth position despite beating Indeni 1-0 cutesy of Lyson Sikanga’s goal at Indeni Sports Complex.

Both Roan and Blackpool have 52 points but the Mufulira club enjoys a better goal aggregate.

Elsewhere, Kalulushi escaped from Lumwana Radiants with a 2-2 draw after coming from behind.

Lumwana took an early lead thanks to goals from Rodgers Mukenge and Lembani Lungu that were later cancelled by Kalulushi’s Michael Musonda and Cephas Handavu.

With five matches to spare, Lumwana leads the Division One North table with 56 points from 29 matches.

In the southern region, Lusaka Tigers, Nampundwe and Prison Leopards are all fighting for one promotion spot after Kabwe Warriors clinched promotion to the Super Division on Saturday.

Warriors won promotion with five games to spare after accumulating 70 points from 29 games following a 3-0 win over Paramilitary.

Second placed Tigers have 53 points, followed by Nampundwe on 51 points and fourth placed Prison sits on 48 points.
