UPND Vice President Geoffrey Bwalya Mwamba has charged that Finance Minister Alexander Chikwanda must be fired for mismanaging the economy.
And Mr Mwamba has observed that the current PF administration is very different from the PF which formed Government under the leadership of late President Michael Sata.
Mr Mwamba said Mr Chikwanda is responsible for the current economic woes that Zambia is experiencing.
He was speaking Sunday afternoon when he featured on a special Burning Issue radio program on 5 FM from his plush Kabulonga residence.
‘As much as some of these economic challenges are global in nature, as a Businessman i can tell you that my cousin Mr Chikwanda has failed to manage the economy, just look at the rate of the depreciation of the Kwacha, the man has failed to respond appropriately,’ Mr Mwamba said.
He added, ‘If it were up to me, i would have fired Mr Chikwanda a long time ago because he has failed to advise Edgar (President Lungu).’
‘Yes some of these things might be global but not at the extent at which the Kwacha is depreciating, as a Businessman, i am not able to plan. The blame should be on the President and his team, if i had a chance the first person i would fire today is my cousin Mr Chikwanda because he has mismanaged the economy.’
He continued, ‘Edgar is not being assisted at all. He has no economic background like myself and HH, he cannot even use his intuition and make certain judgements based on his experience, he is just a lawyer. He has not been a businessman before.’
Mr Mwamba also labelled the PF administration under President Lungu as a flop.
He said the current PF under President Lungu is different from the one that existed during the time of late President Sata.
‘May President Sata who is my mentor rest in peace, the man took me through the a lot of political lessons and that is why today i am one of the most outstanding politicians in Zambia but i will tell you about PF today, there is PF blue and PF Green,’ Mr Mwamba said.
He added, ‘The PF which is in power today is not the PF the people elected, the PF of today is now MMD, can you see the cabinet ministers appointed today? These are the Ministers we were fighting? Dora Siliya at some pointed insulted Sata and GBM when she came for a bye election in Kasama, Dr Kaingu tore Sata’s speech in Parliament right in our eyes.’
He said a lot of things have gone wrong under President Lungu adding that governance under the PF has crumbled including all key sectors of the economy.
‘Even if i was serving in PF today, i would have resigned out of principle, i would not have worked with Hon Siliya and Hon Kaingu.’
Mr Mwamba added, ‘Governance under the PF is a total flop, they don’t even know whether they are going backwards or sideways but let us not cry about spilt milk, we should move forward, we have 2016 to come, Zambians i have interacted with have realised that it is time to change government.’
UPND is no longer red it has Green in it……….
It is wrong to say fire Chikwanda.
It is better Chikwanda just resign himself because he has stopped working and he no longer used by Edgar.
Sata used to leave Chikwanda as acting president, only one time he made mistake he left instruments of power to Edgar and never returned. Edgar has never left Chikwanda as acting president or even go with him on his trips, like Sata used to do.
It is Edgar who need fired.

UPND is also not RED its green and blue. Look at Masebo, GBM, Wlliam Banda, Nalumango,Maaureen Mwanawasa, Milupi, Felix Mutati , all these pipo did they form UPND? GBM, am very surprised that a person like you who claim to “be a seasoned politician today” can start choosing and selecting who is supposed to join a party or not. We all know that some of the things happening in Zambia today is because HH borrowed a lot of money for the January 2015 elections and assured the lenders that we would win, now that is very clear that he will not win General Elections, he doesn’t know where the money to repay back will come from and hence he is busy asking investors to stay away from Zambia to make seem that PF has failed. This is the bottom line of things, your HH is highly indebted man and sooner than later you will know the truth which we all know you dont know, the lenders will be on him once he loses the 2016 elections.
UNIP had people from ANC and UPP. MMD had people from UNIP. PF has people from MMD and UPND. UPND has people from PF and MMD. Zambia has just been recycling the same politicians or the same ideologies in disguise.

Mwanawasa and his team under the new Deal Govt Managed Zambia ‘s economy better.This was after Privatisation has already happened. Not at any time did they blame H.H for having played a role in the privatisation of the mines like we hear today.Rather they worked flat out to revamp the economy to the point of reducing the US$7billion debt to US$500m ,the value of the kwacha came to as low as K3000 to US$1. (KR3.00 to US$1)
The question is why can’t it be done now? Why not take advice from Magande and Caleb Fundanga these men are still arouind in Zambia?

@sure please get your facts right. When LPM took over Government Zambia had qualified to HIPIC so most of its debt was written off to give Zambia a fresh life. It was the hard work of Katele Kalumba, Stella Chibanda, Prof Mweene to mention a few that got the cooperating partners to forgive zambias debt…so when Magande came to the fore he didn’t have a headache of looking to settle foreign debt….hence we had money to play with and play we did, the treasury had reserves hence we could afford to waste money on the Task Force or whatever fancy tickled us…when LPM fell ill we again played with cash even when the French government picked up his medical bill we pretended we where paying so we ate some more cash….enter Lupiya I mean Rupiah lol..by the time Sata took over we took Zambia…
