Zambia U23 fall down in Dakar

Share

Debutants Zambia lost their opening game at the 2015 CAF Under 23 Cup in Senegal.

Tunisia put pressure on Zambia to win 2-1 and go second in Group A after hosts Senegal defeated South Africa 3-1 in the opening match at the same venue.

Zambia were fortunate not to have lost by a wider margin against a dominant Tunisia who took the lead in the 14th minute when Haythem Joudini headed-in the ball past goalkeeper Toaster Nsabata in the 14th minute.

Striker Ronald Kampamba leveled scores in the 11th minute with a long range effort just hours after joining the team from his Egyptian club Wadi Degla.

However, Jouini had the last say in the game when he nodded in his second goal in the 89th minute to complete his brace and put Tunisia second in Group A and tied on points with host Senegal.

Zambia must now beat South Africa on Tuesday in the two sides penultimate Group A match to keep their semifinal hopes live.

The top three finishers in the knockout stage of the eight team tournament will represent Africa at the 2016 Summer Olympics in Brazil.

  1. We lost but it was a good game. I probably understand why we need foreign coaches now. Is it foreign or intelligent coaches? Here are the lessons to learn – from my observation after watching that match:

    1. HR may not have been a good coach, but since he left, the fitness levels of our boys have dropped significantly. We MUST improve our fitness tremendously.
    2. Have we stopped growing the seed of GOOD Goalkeepers in Zambia? Chabala must be turning in his grave! So the coach gets someone that’s not-so-good at his own work and makes him Team Captain?
    3. Whether at U23 or Chipolopolo level, we still CAN’T pull a string of 6 clean passes without losing the ball. This is scary indeed. We keep winning balls but also keep letting them off into WRONG HANDS?and this happens ALL the time

    • That Zambian goalkeeper Nsabata, zoona alisabata, he boy was running all over the place like a number 7. Next match the coach should try him as a striker, he is restless. Did you see him diving at ball thrown to him by the boy outside for a goal kick?

  2. I am puzzled, how they equalised in the 11th minutes instead of leading as Tunisia goal came in the 14th minute :o. .. Overall, they died alittle for mother Zambia 🙂

  3. It is true baba we need foreign coaches now now now, be fore the return matches start. The U23 lost every thing, poor making, poor trapping of the ball, fear of an-known and the trainer seem not understand the system of playing. The guys were fit ,tall and fast. Just bring back MUZUNGU COACH.

  4. WHO SAYS THESE LOCAL COACHES ARE NOT TRAINED,THESE HAVE BEEN TO GERMANY MANY TIMES WELL TRAINED BUT ITS THAT KA BEHAVIOR IN ZAMBIANS PROUD,RELAXED,NOT SHOWING FIGHTING FOR THE NATION.THIS IS SEEN IN ALL SPORTS TALKING TOO MUCH LESS ACTION. U SEE THIS IN PLAYERS AND COACHES.PLAYERS AND COACHES ARE GOOD BUT LACK FORCEFULL SUPERVISION THEY NEED A WHITE MAN STANDING SOMEWHERE.EVEN LOCAL CONTRUCTORS,SUPPLIES,MANUFACTURES, SAME EVEN OUR OWN HOMES U NEED SOMEONE TO TELL U THAT YO HOUSE IS DIRTY SHAMEFULL.

  5. I Hv Allways Said Fittnes Is Not Their All Our Teams Becos U Take Teams 2 Train In Hotels Arabs Go Ku Sand Runing Take Ur Teams Ku Maamba In Hills So They Sweat It Out Food Will Be Taken Again Boys Too Much Bragging Nga Baingisha Fye Kamo Choongo Manigi Muleteka Mitima Pakuteya

    • Kikikikikikikiki! Some times I wonder whether these publications have editors let alone proof readers..even spell check

  6. BACK TO THE DRAWING BOARD FOR ZAMBIA, AS USUAL. WE ARE USED. NANGU TUWINE NANGU TULUSE, NONSENSE SONG. ZAMBIA MUST DEVELOP THICK SKIN TO BEAT ARAB TEAMS.
WE ARE ALWAYS LOSING TO THEM WHILST GHANA, NIGERIA, CAMEROON FEAST ON THEM. SURELY THE COACH COULD NOT COME UP WITH A GAME PLAN TO ENSURE A DRAW, CONCEEDING IN THE 89TH MINUTE NANGU FILACHITIKA TEIFI IYO.

  7. RUBBISH, BA FIGHTON HAS ALWAYS FAILED US AT CRUTIAL TIMES. RUBBISH, WHAT ARE HIS CREDENTIALS APART FROM TAKING US TO TOURNAMENTS AND MAKING US LOSE.

  8. You can not win any game with a calibre of Toaster Nsabata as a goalkeeper. He is a useless keeper. The selection of players is questionable.

  9. Abalembele headline nabo! Zambia U23 fall down…kikikikikiki! Abene ba journalism they just say Zambia U23 fall in Dakar

  10. The boys just like their seniors were poor at ball retention. They very easily gave the ball away and our two strikers were always easily snuffed out by the much bigger Tunisian defenders. They need to learn to think on their feet
