Today’s Message: Focus on His Freedom

Share

bible
Today’s Scripture

“…where the Spirit of the Lord is, there is liberty.”

(2 Corinthians 3:17, NKJV)

Focus on His Freedom

All throughout Scripture, God’s mission was to bring freedom, life and blessing to those who followed Him. When Jesus walked the earth, it says He went around doing good, bringing healing, and setting people free everywhere He went.

If you feel overwhelmed by the pressures of the world today, remember, where the Spirit of the Lord is, there is freedom! When you constantly focus on external things: distractions, worries, and cares of the world, they become bigger in your mind’s eye. But when you focus on what God has given you: peace, freedom, and abundant life, those are the things that you will see manifest in your life.

Today, focus on the right things by setting your mind on things above. Declare His goodness over your life. Sing a song of praise and thank Him for His hand of blessing. Remember, where the Spirit of the Lord is, there is liberty. So focus on Him and focus on freedom!

A Prayer for Today

“Father, thank You for loving and setting me free. I cast my cares on You today and choose to focus on Your freedom. I bless You today and magnify You in my life in Jesus’ name, Amen.”

Prayer is the last resort of people who have run out of ideas, and the first resort of people who never bothered to think about how they could actually fix the problem at hand.

  2. How do you know your God is the correct one? There are more than 30,000 distinct Gods defined in as many holy books. Most are mutually contradictory. They cannot all be true, but they can be (and I submit are) all false. Every one of those > 30,000 gods are worshiped by thousands to billions of people who believe they have the right god with the same fervor that you believe in yours. So sad that you think that of all the conceptions of God only yours is the one true God. What if you are wrong? What if there is no God and you are wasting your one and only life in damaging fear of His Wrath instead of making the best of the fantastically unlikely lottery you have won by simply being born? Think about how different your vision of God would be if God was invented by a bunch of authoritarian…

  3. What a great “debate.” One atheist and four “spiritualists.”

Religion is a way of not growing up. It’s hard to accept the fact that people really die when they die, that they really are gone, and you are never going to see them again. That’s a hard thing to accept, but it’s part of growing up.

It’s hard to accept that the world wasn’t created for you, and that there is no ultimate purpose to your life. That’s hard to accept. But it’s part of growing up.

It’s hard to accept that there isn’t some invisible friend or father figure in the sky who loves you and is going to help you, but it’s part of growing up.

Facing reality is hard. It’s not fun, and it’s not comforting.

Atheists are the only grown ups in the world.

  4. “Prayer is like masturbation. It feels good to the person doing it, and does nothing for the person they’re thinking about”–Don Baker.

  5. Not only is prayer ineffective and sometimes outright dangerous, it’s incredibly pointless too.
If your god exists, and he’s the omni-everything, as described in your lovely homophobia-, racism-, infanticide-, and general murder-endorsing book, surely he knows how your life, and death, are going to unfold. And you’re gonna change his mind? With a prayer? What do you think you are, god?
How humble of you, lovely xtian!

You must be so blinded by your faith, that in your muddled minds you can’t, or won’t, see the glaring dichotomy. I pity you.

  6. I have as little use and respect for religion as I do for each god man has created to help “explain” the wonderful, awe-inspiring world into which we evolved. I ‘get’ religion and god belief. Really. I do. But I’d be lying if I said I didn’t consider believers to be severally deluded and mentally retarded in the lobe where logic ought to prevail. Exactly how I used to be.

  7. When will humanity ever get over its addiction to magic and superstition? Religion should have died when the Greeks figured it out the first time and blew the whistle 2500 years ago.

  8. It is amazing that all the eight comments, I have gone through are strongly against the article. If you are unbeliever what are you doing here? Picking up a fight? For all I Know, I have across most brilliant people who unbelievers and most brilliant people who are Christians, so being believer is not a sign of lack of thinking. Guys we are have freedom of expression and leave those alone who acknowledge God in their lives and move on with your super intelligence to solve your problems.
