Return all Post property and records, High Court orders ZRA

Share

ZRA
The Lusaka High Court has ordered the Zambia Revenue Authority to return all property and records it seized from the Post in Thursday raid.

This is contained in an order issued by Hon Mr Justice Sikazwe in Lusaka on hearing from the Post’s counsel from Nchinto & Nchito and Fynold Mufwaafwi.

The order also stops the ZRA levying any distress before the court case on the matter is disposed off in the Supreme Court.

ZRA officers on Thursday again raided Post Newspapers Limited searching for concealed tax evasion information.

But Post Newspapers general manager-finance Rowena Zulu said it was clear that the authority was not looking for any tax evasion documents, but was trying to stop the newspaper from publishing.

  1. When they went to collect the files and other equipment, the public media, DEC officers and OP were all present. First I do not know if DEC have started collecting taxes and OP officers have also become tax collectors.
There was huge publicity when collecting these documents but when returning them they are doing it quietly. Shame on you guys. Can we change the way we do things.

    • WHO TOLD YOU ITS LUNGU THAT DIRECTED THEM TO POUNCE ON THESE TRICKSTERS…

LEARN TO HAVE FACTS BEFORE YOU SAY ANYTHING…YOU BITTER INDIVIDUAL (S)

  2. That’s how dictators work. They are scared of their own shadows. Fred has survived Kaunda, chiluba, Mwanawasa, banda and sata. So despite this pressure from a thuggish government he will survive. Nb. Fred is not my favourite person he was too close to the other bad PF administration before this one. But the law must be applied equally no exceptions.

  3. CIVIL SERVANT DO NOT BUY POST THIS IS CO HOLDING TAX MONEY WHICH U ARE SUPPOSE TO BE PAID. THIS THIEF HAS BEEN PRETENDING TO BE A SHEEP AND YET HE IS A LION WHO HAS BEEN EATING ~HOW MUCH HAS HE BEEN GIVING THESE JUDGES FOR THEM TO BE DRAGGING THIS CASE. PUT RULES/TIME FOR A CASE TO BE COMPLETED.WHY SHUD STRAIGHT FORWARD CASES BE TAKING LONG. CLASSIFY CASES INTO CATEGORIES -LAW ENFORCEMENT TYPE-MURDER-CRIMINAL-ASSAULT-TRAFFIC ACCIDENTS-ETC OF WHICH LAW ENFORCEMENT SHUD NOT TAKE MORE THAN THREE WEEKS IF PIPO VE TO OBEY STATE LAWS. COURT JUST HAVE TO VERIFY WHETHER LAW IS BEING FOLLOWED AND IF PROOF IS THERE FOR NOT PAYING WHY WAIST TIME PASS JUDGEMENT.

  4. Paying tax is a civic duty that must be part of the definitions of patriotic citizens. We need to grow practical patriotism in Zambia where even for somebody to hold public office their tax affairs must be up to date. Without this, how are we going to achieve self determination?

  7. In his book, 48 Laws Of Power, Robert Greene clearly states in law 15: Crush your enemy totally.
This is what Lungu is doing. The Post is no longer a newspaper but a political party in the camouflage of the homosexual party called Rainbow. Let Lungu crush it as Mmembe uses his paper to hold Presidents at ransom. I don’t want what happened to Sata (MHSRIP) repeat itself, or even Mwanawasa where they got a loan and almost got away with it. Past Newspaper need to be treated like a political party and feel the heat!! Well done Lungu..

  8. Lungu is likely to be more brutal than Kenneth Kaunda if given the chance to continue in office for less than a quarter of 27 years.
You don’t grab property for failure to pay taxes. by following due legal proceedings, liquidators should be appointed to allow for a recovery of all fees owed. That’s just what done in such circumstances.

  9. I don’t care who’s President, am not cheap, am not a cadre. I just want to see a government that’s has the rule of law as its priority, no selective justice, no vindictiveness and victimization of political opponents.
I just want to see corruption free environment. I want to see a president who’s interest is to save his people and not his party cadres.
We will keep running around in circles as a country if we remain focused on trivial matters such as “teaching the post a lesson” because they said bad things about you.

  10. Who are corrupt? Edgar or you chaps high positions. Better leave Lungu alone and allow him to run this country to the best of his ability. He will fail to run this country if we choose to antagonize with him. There can only be one president at a time. When time for other political parties we shall definitely give them support. We have only one Zambia and no where to run to. Long live! Edgar and PF.
