THE Patriotic Front (PF) would value the contribution of former vice-president Guy Scott in next year’s general elections because as a founding member of the ruling party, he still has a lot to offer to the continued growth of the party, Jean Kapata has observed.

Dr Scott has reunited with the PF and has since been brought back into the central committee of the ruling party, a move that has cheered the ruling party’s members.

Ms Kapata who is PF elections chairperson said it was in the spirit of forgiveness and reconciliation that Dr Scott had been given his space in the ruling party’s central committee.

Ms Kapata said the PF had healed from its differences that almost left the party fractured during the transition last year following the death of president Michael Sata because President Edgar Lungu had been a strong proponent of peace, unity and forgiveness in the ruling party.

She said Dr Scott was one of the founders of the PF and it was only politically correct that the former vice-president should remain a member despite what the party went through when he (Dr Scott) acted as republican president.

She stated that the PF was starting afresh and was open to all the members who had left the party during the confusion that rocked the ruling party after the death of President Sata.

“Dr Scott is one of the founding members of the PF and the party missed him when he retreated following the differences the party suffered from during the transition period. He stopped attending central committee meetings but it is good that he has come to terms with the reality that the majority of Zambians want President Lungu. He is more than welcome and we need his contribution,” she said.

And PF deputy secretary general Mumbi Phiri said although Dr Scott had not officially left the central committee, he had not been attending central committee meetings.

Mrs Phiri said Dr Scott exercised his democratic right to reject the candidature of President Lungu but that he had now realized

  1. We should be happy President lungu is the president. There are some shady characters in the PF. Jean Kapata being one of them. Wanted to hunt all of our lions.

    • The constitution is amendment. Let Guy Scott call for a PF convention, and that Edgar Lungu will back off signing the new constitution bills.

  2. THis is not SA iwe Tulamyeba….. so what if in SA that happens? SA is not Zambia and Zambia is not SA get that in to your thick skull!

    • It’s a question you sonofagun. If you don’t have the answer just zip up instead of just farting off for the grandstand

  3. Now that it is nearing election time, you have all of a sudden realised the usefulness of one Guy Scott…and yet its not so long ago when you were threatening him with pangas and showering him with all sorts of insults. SC is a cleaver man who knows you are heading no were with your visionless Chagwa….can’t even blame him, who would like to sit in the same room with dunderheads like Kabwili, Chama, Mumbi, pompous for nothing Kalaba, yourself Kapata, etc. Do not get shocked seeing SC standing on UPND ticket in Lusaka Central and ba mama Sata-DR, taking you on in Chawama on UPND ticket. We are retiring you this coming season, all of you y*****iis!!

  4. Value? This party values only theft and crime. The PF values our treasury because it’s eyeing the public offers for personal enrichment. This is why it values contribution from thieves like Rupiah Banda and Dora Siliya

  6. This is not what people of lukulu want va kapata.Look at the katunda watopa road, power problems, hunger and increase in food prices.PF you discuss Guy Scotty in Lukuku this is shame.

  7. Dear Dr Scot, during transition period you differed with these pf stooge which almost left the party dead.
i personally believe that your stance was genuine because you wanted the right thing to be done rather than what happened.
For you to be in the same boat, are you telling us that these people have changed or reformed? if so why are we still having wrong people in positions? To my understanding they want to use you and once they get what they want they will discard you. Be wise and careful Dr. this party is no longer the party we knew it has been hijacked so if you cant join any of the position i urge you to retire from active politics. we have respect for you.

  8. I have no respect for Jean Kapata the nurse turned Minister of Tourism and Arts. No education, no skills, no diploma and no degree yet turned minister. We know there are younger educated people in the diaspora who are fit for that role so be careful Ba Kapata because your days are numbered. You guys booted Guy Scott out and now you want him back? A lack of leadership and vision in my books as you should have thought this through a long time ago. PF looks very stupid right now, going for the Musungu you kicked out viciously! Such a disgrace of a party!
