Chikankata DC elated by Government’s decision to revise the E-voucher system

Chikankata District Commissioner Kavwumbu Hakachima is elated by Government’s decision to revise the value of E-voucher system from one thousand four hundred kwacha to two thousand one hundred kwacha, reports Pan African Radio journalist Hermit Hachilonde.

Speaking during celebrations to mark the end 2015 in chikankata yesterday, DC Hakachima told farmers that the increase of seven hundred kwacha on E-voucher will go a long way in encouraging commercial and subsistence farming in the country.

She explained that president Edgar Lungu decided to adjust upward the E-voucher value because he appreciates the challenges farmers are facing, hence the remedial increase to cushion the farmers.

The Dc said the increment will enable farmers’ acquire more inputs and implements.

She disclosed that almost all E-voucher cards have now been activated and farmers in chikankata are currently enjoying the services.

She also revealed that all farmers in the District that sold their maize to the Food reserve agency (FRA) have all been paid their monies.

“many farmers have received their E-vouchers and are currently busy accessing their inputs, almost all E-vouchers are activated now, may I also inform you that the Government of his excellence the president Mr. Edgar Chagwa Lungu has increased the amount on the E-voucher from k1400 to k2100, an increase of about k700, DC Hakachima said”

Meanwhile DC Hakachima urged farmers in the District to grow orange maize, the empowerment project which Government is piloting through the Harvest Plus initiative.

“I want to encourage you all of you women and men in chikankata, all our farmers in Chikankata, to grow this orange maize which we piloting for the first time in Chikankata, so that we can improve the nutrition of our people especially children and breastfeed mothers, DC Hakachima said “
And DC Hakachima said the formation of youth cooperatives is one step on president Lungu’s launch of action plan for youth employment and youth empowerment which was launched on 12th August, 2015.

“His excellence Mr. Edgar Chagwa Lungu on 12th August, 2015, launched the first ever action plan for youth employment and youth empowerment, the action plan targets to empower and create 500,000 jobs by December, 2015, and today we are submitting; rather we have formed some youth cooperatives so that they can become enterprising on their own, DC Hakachima said”
