Newly formed Democratic Front leader Miles Sampa has vowed that no one will stop his party from mobilising Zambians across the country.

And Mr Sampa says the launch of the DF marks a great political and economic revolution that shall bring Zambians from different social units together.

Speaking in Kitwe on Saturday night at 22 Hours when he launched the DF, Mr Sampa said no one will stop his party from meeting Zambians and explaining its vision.

“We will speak where in the morning, during the day or night, we will speak even at bus stops or sittings room, nobody will stop us, they will just delay us but we will meet and we will speak,” Mr Sampa said.

He added, “We are gathered here today to announce the formation of the DF, Zambia is democratic country that has a multidisciplinary political society that embraces inclusion nature. The DFD is recognising the diversity cultural groups and ethnic characteristic that includes traditions, values, norms, language, beliefs and symbolic gestures.”

“The emphasis of this day is bordering on the motto coined by our forefathers Dr Kaunda of One Zambia One Nation which entails that the party will not focus on strategies that divides the nation in view of winning an election.”

Mr Sampa said matters of tribalism have a negative impact on national unity and peace and must not be entertained at all.

He charged that life is becoming increasingly harder under the PF administration for the majority of Zambians.

“We believe the pro poor campaign has now turned into anti poor campaign, life is becoming increasingly harder for our people largely due to economic mismanagement and poor governance,” he said.

He added, “the systematic intolerance, the paranoia with perceived enemies inside the party has led to the purging persecution of those seen to the out of favour with the great humble leader.”

“After the 2015 January, ‘democratic’ presidential election debacle in the PF when I sacrificed principle for the greater good of unity in the party and agreed to unconditional reconciliation, the commitment that President Lungu and I made to work towards greater unity in the party has never been honoured. I worked tirelessly to achieve unity in the PF but to no avail.

Mr Sampa also condemned the announcement by PF Deputy Spokesman Frank Bwalya which barred him from going outside his Matero constituency for party mobilisation.

“How can you stop a MP from traveling outside his constituency? Not even during colonial rule were we subjected to such oppression.”

And Mr Sampa said the launch of the DF is the beginning of a great political and social revolution that shall bring different social units.

He said Zambia has potential to improve the lives of its people if the national cake shared equally.

“We will use the lessons learnt from the pitfalls of other parties, to enable the realisation of our avowed aim of eradicating poverty and reducing inequality among our people. The first order of business is to make the DF a model of democracy and transparency. Parties which are undemocratic when elected, fail to respect the rights of their fellow citizens,” Mr Sampa said.

Mr Sampa said the party symbol, which is a traditional broom, symbolises the sweeping work that needs to be done to eradicate poverty.

“The DF symbol is a traditional broom or ichipyango to sweep out poverty and the motto is ‘Empowering people first’. Our objective, therefore, is to attach the highest priority to empowering Zambians to develop themselves and to develop their country.”

Meanwhile, Democratic Front-DF Interim President David Chanda has said that he is going to report former Commerce Deputy Minister Miles Sampa to police for impersonating and masquerading as the party’s leader.

Mr. Chanda has challenged the Registrar of Societies to tell the nation why the his party’s name- the Democratic Front-DF, has been given to Mr. Sampa.

He said Mr. Sampa has never been a member of DF and is therefore imposing himself on the opposition party.

Mr. Chanda told ZNBC News in Kitwe today that party members are shocked that Mr. Sampa can launch his new party by the name of Democratic Front, which was registered last year in October.

He has vowed to challenge the existence of his party’s name in the courts of law.

    • ZADECO or NP of Nkumbula if not of Mulemba of Agenda for Zambia based in Denver, Colorado led by a sick Professor since 1999. Wherever they have gone. This is the 55th party in Zambia

    • I knew it, that DF must be exciting somewhere among the 72 political parties in Zambia.
Miles was too fast, the August elections are miles away, there is no need to rash. He needs clean up this week, and make peace with David Chanda.

    • If really there is another DF, then Sampa’s Faux Pas, may herald what lies ahead!!
It is a simple thing to search the registrar of Societies data base, BUT THEN AGAIN, it just goes to show how things have gone to the dogs, where by the registrar registers two entities under the same name!!

  1. If only wishes were horses, every John could be President today. Thank God Zambia is a democracy of choices there are no constitutional clauses that can constrain a citizen in his dreams. What will be your message and platform to Zambians when yesterday you were the nerve center of buttering congregants and matcheting to death helpless daughters? What will you go tell those tongas who chased you out from a short term deputy ministrial position after insulted them to produce more cattles and enter many poligamous marriages to bump up their voting numbers?
FYI, let me correct you colonialism had a lot of restriction hence KK being incarcilated in Kabompo. Ask uncle Joesh Mutale, Mukombwe, VJ, Sikota Wina or Chikwanda and RB.

  2. DFD? Sampa has miscalculated his chances MILES from his fantasy target! Hope he has the back bone of his uncle Sata to withstand the political turbulence before he gets a real shot at the target, YEARS from now! Ukose’ mune’!

  3. In this country we’ve totally misunderstood the political dispensation that Chiluba and group ushered in. Too many political party minions all because of selfishness by polical players! We need to have a fewer meaningful parties not inundating our political land scape notuma party twamungulu every now and then!

  4. Let’s eat his money guys. If you don’t have money, join him to eat it so long you are in Zambia and has a voters card

  5. If a party registered but did not meet the requirements it becomes void, DF under Sampa has met all the requirements and the registrar would have picked up duplication…..Viva Sampa, all those voting for recycled leaders are doing so out of selfish loyalty, tribalism or corruption. We have been saying Africa has recycled old people, how do you expect it to change when we fighting the younger generation, hypocrites. What exactly are we afraid of, change is here lets move Zambia to the next level, Lungu has set one step ahead by signing the new constitution.

  6. Many people were hoping that Sampa joins an already existing party, but someone has misinformed and taken a difficult route. We already have seen these political parties formed out of frustrations and they are dying natural death. Sampa has rushed things and am afraid even the few that sympathized with him will not give a vote come August. He was simply better off joining another or remain in PF.

  7. It was much better for him to remain in PF or join another party that shares his ideals than forming a political party. This option could have given him a chance to achieve his political ambitions. Its even cheaper for him as an individual. The route he has taken unfortunately,is an expensive one which along the way will drain his resources and consign him to the political archive of Zambia.

  8. Mr Sampa, you are way ahead of yourself, do you know what it takes for a political party to form government and how long it takes, the resources involved? The American ambassador won’t give you any support because it’s beyond his jurisdiction. Already you are having problems with the party name, Mr chanda claims he’s the President of Df. The name it self is a problem because it sounds as though it’s a sub group of Pf, it’s very similar which implies that the people are one and the same. The other issue is you forming a political party just because you have been ejected from the PF means that you are power hungry, you don’t want to join existing political parties unless if you are made president of that party. Mr Sampa if you are not careful this could be the end of your political…

  9. Zedians! Zedians! up to now you don’t understand politics? Miles has decided to form a political party not that he cannot join other existing parties nor does he not know how hard it is to become president in the next 7 months.

I believe Miles is already working with the opposition and they have determined which course of action will more detrimental to the ruling party. Amongst others, Miles ‘s action is to weaken the strong holds of PF in order to increase the winning chances of the strongest opposition. cant you see that?!

  10. SO GBM IS BETTER THAN MILES BECAUSE HE HE DID NOT FORM A POLITICAL PARTY. MILES SHOULD BE LOOKING AT HIS AGE, HE CAN MAKE A PRESIDENT LATER BUT HE IS TOO FAST. SPEED KILLS.

  11. Even the super power American has recognized MILES SAMPA.The State department in Washington had to instruct the ambassador to meet the future president of Zambia.Just look at him tall, handsome, educated. These are qualities any westernized African will admire.MILES we are behind you.

  12. Ba jack, you are assuming he’s working with the opposition, assumption is the mother of all fcuk ups, if he was he would have been with the opposition, not even 5years is enough to form government, miles won’t even return his matero seat, he won last time because he stood on a pf ticket, matero is a pf strong hood

  13. Unfortunately DF has all the connotations of upnd- banking on tribal support. That will render it dysfunctional in our political playground like Kalusa Heka”s party-too bad MILES trekked backwards!

  14. Hon. Sampa Miles I appreciate your ambitions but I am assuring you as the day follows the night. Its not too late. Join HH in UPND. See in old age there is wisdom. Hon GBM did a good research and he concluded that the best choice to serve Zambian people is to join UPND and you can see the joy on his face because GBM knows very well that UPND is the next government. But your party and your self first you need to build your image. Just like one article has reminded you herein, at one time you became so arrogant that you insulted the hard working Tongas by that stupidity remark you made, now here you are , you have formed the party how are you going to campaign in Southern province. Any as usual you are a Bemba you have formed your party. If it was another Zambian person from another…

  15. Miles should go back to the drawing board and sort out the confusion over the name…! Looks like not much thought was given to the choice of a name! Did you do a name search at the Registrar of Societies? This is a real bummer!

  16. Miles, just like his name,is a mile away from becoming a president. He hurriedly formed the party out of frustration. He knows deep down in his heart that becoming a president is a pipe dream. He needs to ask his friend Elias Chipimo jr and others. This time around the only true contenders are Edgar and HH.From the word go,he has such problems. Is he going to manage the rough terrains of presidential space?

  17. Its a political suicide that this Sampa has made seriously, he should have learnt lessons from Wynter Kabimba and his cartel. Sampa should have learned to to respect his superiors and know that in Bemba we say “Tafimbwa Lubilo”. The chap had all the opportunities in PF, all he needed to do was to work humbly and diligently under H.E. President Lungu and could have have been groomed for the future.
    Two mistakes here;
    1. His political party will never go anywhere just like others have died a natural death. There are many reasons to this of which one of them is that PF is here to stay for a long long time to come.
    2. Secondly, he can join or work with another known opposition party, because alread the likes of GBM and Canicious Banda are being sidelined on preferrence of their own (The…

  18. Miles, you should have said …“The emphasis of this day is bordering on the motto coined by our forefathers who fought the war in chindwin, Kohima, Arakan and Tug Argan wars of One Zambia One Nation.

My granny talked about these wars that gallant men fought. He claims to have fought in Mogadishu…… These were men!

  19. I still believe Miles has miscalculated, he should have just gone under like the patient Crocodile, waiting for the right time to strike. Remember Mwanawasa, he left politics but not the party MMD and right now he stood a better chance lead through the PF re-branding route than forming DF. This is even more so if Edgar wins…just my thoughts

  20. Be strong my brother. Don’t move at night whether in drinking places or busy roads. Be careful with that girl friend of yours you sent to Tanzania when you wanted to stand as PF president. Always check your moves first or you will fall into the ditch or pity. Always sniff before you make a move or step or whenever you leave you house. This is free of charge advise or you will pay the price.

  21. Miles, why all the rush? Lungu is now the president and not the Chawama PF MP you tried to wrestle after Sata’s death. I wish you persevered under him. Grooming a party from infancy to clinch power is no child’s play. Why did you opt for such a lethal act? You could have tested the political temperature in Matero before deciding. With PF & UPND at the helm, you are bound to lose relevance in the political scene, the Kabimba style.

  22. …“How can you stop a MP from traveling outside his constituency? Not even during colonial rule were we subjected to such oppression.”… Miles Sampa was born in 1970…

  23. He thinks he is smart when we all know he is inexperienced and childish. Ask Magande to tell you why your party will go nowhere.

  24. Sampa’s advisors are such characters like Anthony Kasolo. Anthony Kasolo is a lawyer who is in the same league like Kabimba, a failed lawyer who has never won a case in a court of law. My question is, didnt people like Kasolo know of this Chanda character? The best Sampa can do is to join DF as a member then request for elections, which maybe he will win, then he can talk about DF as if he owns it. As things stand, he is not a member of the party and what he is showing is indiscipline. What a start to a political career or is it an end to a political career.
