President Edgar Lungu says the ruling PF does not have a youth security militia.

President Lungu explained that the party only has vibrant youths who provide security to vulnerable members of the party.

He said the youths are there to provide security at party meetings and marshal the proceedings of such meetings as required under the Public Order Act.

President Lungu was speaking in interviews with Journalists in Lusaka before departure for Eastern Province where he will attend this weekend’s Nc’wala traditional ceremony.

“We don’t have militia in our party, we have youths and this is why we have Honourable Kampyongo who is in charge of the youth wing and these youths provide security to the party when we have meetings,” President Lungu said.

He was responding to demands by Law Association of Zambia President George Chisanga for political parties to disband their security militia wings.

President Lungu also said that he is ready for dialogue with all political players in an effort to curb violence.

He said dialogue is always welcome and suggested that the Church and other neutral and interest free groups should spearhead efforts to foster dialogue.

  1. The presidency has gone to dogs, Lungu how do you protect your violent youths?
They dress in military uniform and beat up people in markets and bus stations, they cause confusion at international airport, they violate traffic rules when going to welcome you at the airport…..

Show leadership and condemn violent behaviour.

    • Not only is EL a bad leader but he is not intelligent, A good leader will know how to handle and answer questions on such sensitive matters. How did we end up with him.

    • Mwense, say the same words, “presidency (or prime ministerial has gone to dogs”) wherever you live and prove the extent of democracy- if it can allow you to insult the topmost leader of the land. Maybe, you don’t know- you are just calling the people of Zambia including your mother, dogs. As they are the people who were convinced and still will be convinced that he was more worthy being a leader than the rest. So, if your mother is included in your insult it simply means that you are also a dog beause a dog, your mum, can’t produce a human being.

    • Is this man really a lawyer? What powers has the PF Youth have to enforce the Public Older Act? Does he even understand the constitution? I think this giy should be taken to court after 11 August

    • He said the youths are there to provide security at party meetings and marshal the proceedings of such meetings as required under the Public Order Act.

The above statement if true, then this country is slowly becoming lawless. How can a political party militia group be effecting POA which is the preserve of state police functions. Really my President and your party can do better than this.

    • WHERE DID I INSULT THE PRESIDENT? I used metaphor that is used everywhere….If you take it that I meant that Lungu is a dog, then that is your interpretation. A strong president e.g late Mwanawasa, would not defend the behaviour we are seeing from ignorant PF cadres.

    • @snake bite
Zambia ended up with him because of the same militia he is denying, they made sure he becomes president by wave of panga, not votes. Recently he said if the police are not able to do their jobs they must step aside so PF can take charge, meaning these savage, conscienceless brainwashed cadres will be unleashed to wreck havoc in the nation.

    • President Lungu needs to be reminded that he is the President and he has the authority to ban cadre groups, enforce zero tolerance to violence. Dialogue is for those who are not in power and do not have the authority to act.

    • Always read the opposite of what Lungu says. He speaks with a crooked tongue. There’s no mention of party militias, whether PF or otherwise, in the POA.
      #ChagwaMustFall

  2. Chagwa is a weak leader who doesn’t have the mantle to curb violence, how can someone defend lawlessness. We are always inconvenienced by his so called thugs every time he is travelling the roads becomes congested by the panga wielding youth and break road traffic regulation in front of RTSA and traffic cops. Shame on Chagwa.

  3. This is really worrying. Has our president been misquoted. Everybody is seeing the violence from these youths and Lungu says they provide security and protect weak members of the PF party.

Is this man really himself? Look at that guy who had his ear maimed? Which week party member was being protected by Max?. But uyu ena chikopo.

I always wonder the calibre of his supporters?

  4. THIS GUYS IS A HYPOCRITE………………..how does he manage to lie through his teeth like that? i am amused, were does he draw the courage to be a shame in public like this

    • So what this DULL DRUNKARD is saying is he has COMPLETELY FAILED to ensure peace and security through the OFFICIAL channels —- THE POLICE FORCE !!!!

And now PF needs cardres to provide the services that all Zambians and paying TAX for, including LUNGUs SALARY!

Does this moronic man evenknow he has just admitted he is a PATHETIC FAILURE ????

  5. What is the work of the police then? Am I missing something here? My foot; I can not believe this statement is actually coming from the Head of State!

  6. Clueless, visionless, brainless, useless and a drunkard. Can this lazy bum explain to the people how his vibrant youth protect the vunerable his stupid party.

  7. Since Zambia’s independence, show one presidential candidate who puts on a military baret during campaigns and salutes to his militia? Only changwa mulamu, such language from a president of a party don’t expect change among his followers,we also don’t dialogue talks under the auspices of PF=Pastors Fallen like…….!

  8. The MILITARISATION of political parties/cadres ought to be OUTLAWED. In the UNIP days military fatigues such as camouflage uniforms/combat boots/berets were strictly meant for bona fine security personnel. Security forces enforced the rules STRICTLY. A civilian clad in military attire was asking for trouble. Not only would they confiscate it (military attire) but also used nyoesha the culprit (force the chap to roll in dirty pools/potholes of water). Not even the feared UNIP vigilantes would wear military fatigues. SUCH is the DISCIPLINE required to keep our politics CIVIL. We dont want a genocide in Zed. THE INDISCIPLINE AMONG CADRES HAS GONE TOO FAR. Standing up to/daring, military Police & ZP assigned to guard President at Rallies. My Foot!! Only in Chagwa’s rule. Never with…

  9. Again he has failed to provide leadership when called upon as a head of state . This is saddening and sickening because this is a crucial time leading up to the elections, as such we needed the president to warn the perpetrators of violence and preach against forming civilian security wings . This is not about politics ,its about protecting and maintaining peace

  10. Is President Lungu aware of the powers constitutionally bestowed upon him? Why should he seek dialogue concerning security with other groups while power is vested solely on him to crack the whip? He must stop these shenanigans as the country has had an intact able security system for over fifty years since independence unless he suggests that political parties form their own security groups and endure the consequences when campaigns come in full gear. ‘Humble’ Lungu, let us not miscontrue your leniency as a flow within your idiosyncracy.

    • No, this is definitely not a President speaking. Just some STUUPlD drunk from Chawama that gatecrashed into State House and is trying to pretend he knows what is going on.

  11. MAX CHONGO could have been the talk of the day is he belonged to the opposition of what happened in Kafue where he sliced someone’s ear. Our President could have been the first to condemn now look at him every time grossing of his PF thugs. Until when war starts in Zambia that when he will realize the danger he putting this country into. Max Chongo is currently the most dangerous PF cadre in Zambia if PF doesn’t deal with him soonest they will regret. I personally witnessed a situation where he organized PF cadres to beat one guy over a simple political difference. PF watch this guy.

    • I hope our so called president will read this comment ABARI.So all parties are now free to organise youths to “protect their members”.Zambia where did we go wrong? We are terrified with the way the PF youths conduct themselves in public and the man endorses their conduct? We can do better than this surely Chagwa must go.

  12. President Edgar Lungu is indeed the weakest President Zambia has ever had in its history, ‘A Lungu’ what is there to dialogue for when you know that your cadres are the ones who have causing this violence from the time you took over power in January 2015.Big man you are the President, just tell the Police to take stern action against whoever is involved in violence regardless of which party they come from…Late President Mwanawasa did it…why can’t you do it…why can’t you show Leadership for Christ’s sake….Dialogue!dialogue!….you are now misusing the word ‘DIALOGUE’ because you are using it even where it is not necessary.

  13. • Lungu is not weak. Being a product of violence and corruption, he feels its the only way he can maintain or cling to power. Look at the way he condemns his opponents. By being violent, its the only way he can stay in power. No wonder Bafoon Kambwili said if PF has failed, let the pipo of Zambia kick them out. He is saying it out of annoyance esp that kachasu opted for a skirt as his running mate. Watch out. Young Sampa has come with a lot of force.

  14. Its a pity that a person who is supposed to tell the nation the truth keeps on telling lies. Look at the ugly picture LT has shown as yo militia. Its widely known that Kampyongo is their leader together with Kachasu Lungu. Kachasu himself is a product of violence. Think of how you ascended to the PF presidency. Living in denial will not take you anywhere. Violence bigots violence. No wonder you stage managed the Bweengwa fiasco. You can not play cheap politics among the intellectuals. Your exit is near.

  15. The same person who has twice threatened to unleash his militia today claims he has no militia.
    Edgar is consistently inconsistent.

  16. Does it mean the last year’s national day of prayer and fasting was all in vain? Thought unity, among other things is what we prayed for.

  17. Is he saying that that police service should be disband because by his confession the PF thugs are providing security for the PF? What a travesty ..

  18. How can a person beat you? It means you are weaker or wrakest. Ba UPND you seem to be emotional these days what have you seen or smelled? politics is not a child’s play ground.

  19. Lungu was very clear in the statement he made, he always appears to be making bad statements and then retract…….next time consult your advisors b4 you open your mouth….go for a leadership course, your skills and knowledge are not reflecting in your leadership. Even madam Esther is far much better. Yakiiii!!!

  20. Common sense entails that you have apply self defence when under threat or attack, whilest waiting for help from security wings.
What do you when your siblings or wife are under attack? Do you simply fold your arms and let your relations be battered.

Even HH and other opposition political leader have security guards and armed for that matter despite the fact that they can seek protection from the Police.
There is no political party that does not cadres in its ranks
