Police in Lusaka have summoned UPND Vice President Geoffrey Bwalya Mwamba commonly known as GBM for questioning over the raid at his business premises over the weekend.
Police Spokesperson Charity Munganga Chanda said in a statement that Mr Mwamba is expected at Lusaka Central Police for questioning over the offensive weapons that were found at his business premises on Luanshya road in Villa Elizabetha in Lusaka.
Police in Lusaka on Saturday apprehended 21 suspected UPND cadres for unlawful Drilling and being in Possession of Offensive Weapons.
This follows intelligence information which Police received two weeks ago that there were people suspected to have been carrying out training in defensive as well as attacking tactics with a view of causing violence during this year’s election.
Deputy Inspector General of Police for Administration Eugene Sibote said in a statement that acting on the information, an operation was conducted today at an unmarked premises situated on Luanshya road belonging to Mr Mwamba.
Mr. Sibote disclosed that during the search, eight rounds of ammunition, three machetes, one spear and a golf stick, were recovered all from a sky blue Toyota Spacio, registration number ALT 6201 which had a female occupant aged 18 on board.
He said one machete was recovered from a green bus, registration number ALV 4631 while another machete painted red was recovered from an Isuzu Vannette, grey in color, registration number AAP 9064.
Further, Mr. Sibote disclosed that some Cannabis was found in a red Honda Stream registration number ALL 9758
He said two people have so far been charged with being found in Possession of Offensive Weapons, contrary to section 85 (I) of Chapter 87 of the Laws of Zambia while the owner of the Toyota Spacio is on the run and Police have launched a manhunt.
Mr. Sibote said investigations have continued as the register that was found at the premises had 158 names that should be part of the group.
President Edgar Lungu revealed in Katete yesterday that the UPND was training 250 militias to cause confuse during the forthcoming general elections.
But Mr Mwamba has laughed off the discovery saying the building was used by youths for fitness training as a gym.
He said he had donated the building to the youths who turned it into a gym and installed gym equipment in order to keep fit.
Mr Mwamba said the same building has in the past been used by MMD and PF youths when he was a member of the two respective political parties.
The UPND Vice President said the raid was part of a clandestine move by President Edgar Lungu to frustrate the ongoing mobilisation exercise by the UPND.
Violence will lead to the destruction of UPND. Zambian people are peaceful. We don’t like violence. So, you UPND cows are watching while Lucifer (HH) destroys a formerly strong opposition party of national character set up by Mazoka. Look at the fakkars like William Tekere infiltrating your organs. Use your brains for once and save UPND and Zambia.
These serious reports of rebel militants and political savages being groomed in UPND should not be taken lightly. This Hootoo man Hichilema is ready to maim civillians. ZP dont seat idle. We know what is going on here, the ammunition was planted by police and when did carrying a machete in the boot of ones’ vehicle get outlawed? Simply means if you approach a police check point on your way to your field to harvest sugarcanes or maize and you’re carrying in your vehicle a machete then you have committed an offense let alone a zealous PF cadre or neighbor reporting you to the local police that they saw a machete in your yard! Zambia gone to the dogs!
GBM has added no value to UPND. HH you were told by your inner cirlces not to do this. You are now trapped. The minute you realise that he is costing you the votes and you decide to discard you, GBM will insult and reduce you to trash.

My question is do GBM and HH have plans removing military skills fom those militia after using them? Read history of Banyamulenge who are killing pipo in Congo. They were trained the way HH has trained those UPND militia. When they will difer with HH they will turn into robers killing inocent pipo.

The bolts on this case are slowly loosening up, the farm implements are now in individual vehicles not in the building, and when police came in i presume the owners of these vehicles were inside the building training, someone came put these implements in each vehicle and alerted police to burst into the premises, poorly done job.
