Cavmont Bank joins the battle against infant mortality, donates to three local hospitals

Share

Cavmont Bank presented UTH Lusaka, Solwezi General and Mwense General Hospitals with a donation of critical supplies to aid in the combat against infant mortality.

At the presentation ceremony, held 8th March, 2016, Cavmont Bank took further action to boost the impact of their CSR programme focused on Women’s Empowerment, Children and Education in celebration of International Women’s Day.

According to the United Nations Children’s Emergency Fund (UNICEF), 591 maternal deaths occur per 100,000 live births while the infant, neonatal and under-five mortality rates are at 70, 34, and 119 per 1,000 live births, respectively.

“Cavmont Bank continues to listen to the voice of the communities in which it operates. We have recognised this need and we are delighted to be able to respond with actions that will bring about real impact and social transformation for the people in our communities. We are confident that the impact of this donation will deliver positive impact and solicit increased support to see significant reduction in the current mortality rates, which are unacceptably high. The Bank will continue to advocate for causes that really matter and remains committed to working together with key partners to drive change.” said Chilunga Puta-Dunham, Head of Communications and Customer Service.

Cavmont Bank donated 2 Microwaves, 3 x 32” LED TVs, 1 Wheel Chair, 700 Incontinence Sheets, 700 Cord Clamps, 400 Examination Gloves, 250 x (30”x30”) Abdominal X-Ray Swabs, 250 (45”x45”) Abdominal X-Ray Swabs and 350 Biohazard Plastics.

“Today is an opportunity to celebrate and give back to the women in our communities. It is also an opportunity to impact on the early life of infants. Only 47 percent of births are attended by a skilled health worker (according to UNICEF) so we hope that this gesture will benefit our health care professionals as they provide the best service they can. We are proud to be a champion for this cause and strongly believe that this donation will go a long way to improving the situation and comfort in our hospitals and the lives of those who receive care. We wish Zambia a Happy International Women’s Day.” added Chilunga Puta-Dunham.

very few banks, parastatals and/ or companies do help the needy, always pointing to the govt. of the day even where they can help.
please stop milking us dry, pour back some change, into the community.
in bemba we say “ukulya no kuputilisha”.
