And one of the pupils, who were admitted to the Intensive Care Unit at Kasama General Hospital after contracting meningitis, has been evacuated to the University Teaching Hospital (UTH) in Lusaka for further treatment.

Northern Province Medical Officer, Francis Bwalya, confirmed the development to the media in Kasama today.

Dr Bwalya said the 21 meningitis patients will remain quarantined until their health condition is stable enough to warrant their discharge from hospital.
