Zambia lags behind because Everything is about Elections and Politics -Chipimo

NAREP president Elias Chipimo Jr
NAREP president Elias Chipimo Jr

NAREP President Elias Chipimo says his prayer is that things should get so bad so as to remind Zambians that they have the power to change the destiny of the country and not politicians.

And Mr Chipimo says if he ever became Republican President he would only save for one term because the changes he would implement are so radical that they would make him unpopular.

Speaking when he featured on Let the People Talk on radio Phoenix Mr Chipimo said he is horrified and shocked that no matter how bad things seem to be people continue carrying on doing the same things hence the need for rude awakening.

He said the country has been conditioned to think that life is about soldiering on even when they have the power to change things and make them better.

He said it was sad that people have become so dependant on politicians that they have even stopped reasoning when electing them, hence just changing them like furniture in the house without even considering what they are able to offer.

“I have actually being praying that maybe things get as bad as they can. Why am I praying that because its ordinarily that I would have such a prayer that let us keep going through the suffering but I am just horrified and shocked that no matter how bad things seem to be we keep on doing the same things, seem to feel that okay even things are bad we will soldier on. It should not be about soldiering on, it should be about saying things are so bad I need to stop and ask myself does it make sense for me to depend on a politician? It doesn’t matter who it is,” he said.

He said replacing politicians is not the solution to the challenges in the country but the change of mindset by Zambians.

And Mr Chipimo said if ever elected as President he would only serve for a term because he wouldn’t want to be President with re-election on the back of his mind.

He said he would take radical steps which would be unpopular but necessary in ensuring that the country is set in a right direction.

He said the country is lagging behind in terms of development because everything has been about elections and politics as opposed to setting a developmental agenda.

He complained about the moral decay in the country.

He said children as young as twelve and thirteen were abusing alcohol and having sex and that parents were doing almost nothing about the situation because the country has accepted that the abnormal is now normal.

He attributed the moral decay to the corruption in the country which he said was so endemic that everything people are doing has some kind of corrupt element in it.

On the ritual murders Mr Chipimo said there has been no leadership from all stakeholders but that people have just positioned themselves to see how they can benefit from the situation.

He said it was sad that there is no unit of purpose from politicians, the church or other stakeholders and that things the country have all become about oneself adding that such events should bring the people together and help each other in finding the solution as opposed to the selfishness it exposed.

    • No matter how much misery we pile on the docile pipo of Zed, come rain or sun shine, you know they still have faith in boma ni boma. These are Global issues!

    • Exactly what is happening now. The question we all need to start asking ourselves today even before 11 August,16 is, what has PF done to the economy that has improved my daily livelihood from what is was under the MMD regime? Does Edgar has what is takes to lead this country to greater height given another term? We can not change the past but the past can help us predict the future.. having said that, what can we learn from this past (present) about PF leading us for another 5yrs? In all fairness PF has lamentably failed in almost all the areas, but Zambians being the way we are, we think its normal to buy mealie-meal (Staple food) at K100, having endless load shedding, less money in our pockets, (exact opposite of why we voted for PF)

    • Is Chipimo campaigning for Lungu when he says “replacing politicians is not the solution to the challenges in the country”? He’s very wrong there. Leadership is so important in every organization. We are where we are because of very weak and corrupt leadership in PF, first from Sata and now Lungu.

    • Mr Chipimo, I have always supported you and you make a lot of sense when you speak. I do have few things against you. Not long ago, you formed Orange “AFCON” Alliance with Miles and Chanda. Then you started making moves to sell the Orange Alliance to PF!! Seriously! Yet you claim to be pro-poor. Zambians have suffered enough already under MMD and now under PF. I can tell you that your prayers didnt even go past the ceiling! My conclusion is that you, Nevers and Nawakwi cant be trusted. You heavily criticize PF and yet you are the first people to rush for the PF running make slot. People like you are called, hypocrites. Im sorry for saying that, but I also dont have patience for jokers trying to deceive people.

    • A well written post and article. Then people like # Buck Teeth above show the exact same ignorance being talked about. Shake my head, where are the Miyanda Generals of yesteryear to lead?

    • Chipimo, atleast you are still saying something…some of us stopped along time ago when we realised a Zambian was so content with poverty. We spent lots of time worrying on their behalf, when themselves never even thought for one minute that they were living in hard economic conditions. Some of them were even shocked we were worried about their conditions…hahaha…I left for UK and will never come back to that cursed part of Africa

    • I also see sense in his talk. congrats. he can now join the UPND with such quality reasoning. No matter how visionless and clueless Edgar Lungu is, no matter whether their families and relatives eat finkubala for breakfast , lunch and supper, 24/7 days a week, they continue saying “fintu ni Lungu”, Lungu nafuti etc. are we bewitched or what?

    • ZAMBIA IS NOW LAGGING BEHIND BECAUSE OF CHOOSING A WRONG PERSON EDGAR LUNGU FOR PRESIDENCE. GET RID OF LUNGU AND START A NEW LIFE ALL TOGETHER WITH NEW WINDOW OF HOPE WITH HH AND HIS ABLE UPND TEAM. VIVA HH VIVA! VIVA UPND VIVA!

  1. Mr chipimo you have nailed all my thoughts in this article.zambians the most docile creatures on planet earth.

  2. I AGREE WITH ELIAS ON THESE SENTIMENTS. I ALSO GET SHOCKED AND DISMAYED WHEN PEOPLE SUPPORT LEADERS WHO HAVE DEMONSTRATED INCOMPETENCE AND INEPTITUDE IN RUNNING THE AFFAIRS OF THE NATION. WE CONTINUE TO HEAP PRAISES ON THESE PEOPLE INSTEAD OF GETTING ANGRY WITH THEM. THERE HAS BEEN TIMES WHEN I HAVE WISHED THAT THINGS SHOULD GET SO BAD TO TEACH ZAMBIANS A LESSON. WHEN A LEADER STEPS ON OUR TOES WE TURN AROUND AND APOLOGISE TO HIM OR SAY THANK YOU FOR STEPPING ON OUR TOES. THE BEHAVIOUR OF ZAMBIANS IS RIDICULOUSLY SICKENING.

    • Amano Mambulwa just say behavior of Bembas and nyanjas is ridiculously sickening not Zambians. They can vote even for a frog or chicken as long as is Bemba or Nyanja.Cry our beloved country.

    • Your prayer and Chipimo’s that things should get terribly bad for Zambia is very sad. Zambians will save themselves. We are not all Bembas who see no wrong in the current disaster as long as there’s a Chipuba chabo in State House. Chipimo hobnobbed with Sata all the way to Brazil. He cannot pretend now that he disapproves of PF’s way of doing things.
      #ChagwaMustFall

    • Kasama Resident stop showing your ignorance, Leave my distant relatives from the east out of your myopic visions. We from the west respect the wisdom of easterners. One of Zambia’s ever green bread and food baskets. Just support real visionaries like President Nawakwi.

    • @ 5.1 and 5.2. cast your memories to who the Bembas voted for in 2001, 2006, 2008 and 2015.. Now do the same for our brethren in Southern province. I rest my case.

  3. As Smart and Intelligent as you are
How did you end up forming an alliance
With Kilometer the DF President ?
    I couldn’t just comprehend whatever
Happened I am glad the Alliance didn’t
Last. Saying that The self claimed smart
Economist wouldn’t agree with my opinion
    Since he knows it all.

    • Chipimo, like all Bembas, cannot see any wrong in another Bemba. That’s why he ganged up with Sampa in the Bemba Alliance.
      #ChagwaMustFall

  4. We agree with the need for radical changes Chipimo, Well spoken. LT, very poorly written article. You need to fire your blog writer.

  5. No, pipo, what has he said. He is saying nothing, no even theory. Can he giv an example when he says “pipo continue doing the same things..” What is he talking about. What r pipo doing? What must they do that is different? Give specific examples. No just talking to the sake of talking. If he was president what radical things wld he do? Give specifics. Otherwise he is just as dull as they come – politicians. Even HH talks similar amapinda. We ve head it b4

    • @wilz

He didn’t have to spell it out like he was talking to stup!d and retarded people. The “same things” that he said people keep doing is this: Chiluba FTJ was a thief before he became president and KK warned us in advance but people voted Chiluba. Sata was a thief and very violent, vindictive and vulgar but people, incapable of learning from past mistakes elected him president. Lungu, yet another kleptomaniac, and given to excessive drinking and openly clueless is the president thanks again to the people. That’s what Chipimo means by people keep doing the same things. The question is, if you keep doing the same things over and over again that never worked in the past but hoping to achieve different results, what kind of person are you? Ubushilu, tefyo?

  6. This man is clean and needs support.how i wish he joined PF and Help EL. We need such leaders in the country.indeed,Zambians are to lazy that everything 4 them is about politics.Even when it was raining they never planted anything coz of politics. Iwe this is bad in the nation. Chipimo u’re my future president! Please teach ba lungu something then take over PF.We need honest pipo in this country.HH can’t run this country bcoz he welcomes corrupt chaps like GBM

    • Why does Lungu need help? He has had 18 months as President and had instead surrounded himself with nincompoops.
      #ChagwaMustFall

  7. ..does Chipimo understand half of what he talks about and the field he has found himself in…??….to me he seems to be on a wrong ‘wagon’…he must differentiate being an executive in an institution…..a general manager of a company and a political leader…..politics is not a career….it has no guidelines like a lawyer, a teacher would have…. politicians are always unpredictable…what a politician says and what is actually on his mind do not usually synchronise….its not too late to turn NAREP into a non governmental organisation…

  8. Chiluba told zambians that the population was manageable, that he wld turn the economy around. He came with no political experience. When he bcame presido, he looted o the parastal companies. Only he & the likes of HH got rich from privatization. Zambians were left unemployed & most died early. Zambians paid a price FO experiementing with Inexperience. Mwanawasa had been VP b4 becoming presido. He worked on stabilizing the economy. Banda had some experience & tried but failed to continue mwanawasa’s plan

  9. After MMD, enter Sata. An experienced politician. Even tho his priortizing roads has made parts of the country that were not accessible now reacheable, the speed & how it was implemented has been questioned. Today we stand with a PF team that has been working on damage control due to a dead man’s over borrowing. Am happy to let PF continue & complete these development projects. I dont agree with Elias theories without facts. I dont agree with HH’s theories that r not backed by experience. Where did HH try to create anythng that benefited the pipo & not himself. Businessmen groom others, who has he groomed, just so we can c he is a man of the pipo? He seems a man about himself

  10. Theorists r too many in Z. O of them want to b president. What qualifies them FO this? Let them succeed at another job, then we can say, yes they can try. Foseki ka Elias naewe! U wil never bcome president bcoz u r a failure & a theorist

  11. Chipimo is right, the only thing he has left out is tribalism which seems to have replaced intellectual thinking in Zambia. Even he Chipimo would rather support PF because it’s a bemba party even if there are alternatives out there being offered by non-bembas. I have no doubt that even if he is busy castigating us for accepting the status quo, he will still go and cast a vote in favour of PF. And he is an intellectual! What more the uninformed masses?

  12. Finally, you’ve said something sensible!! Now keep singing the same song until Zambians vote for you!! That’s how it works!! Then turn on them like a fox!

  13. When you have a certain affinity for persons of like gender you go on air and spew what you believe will be believable….but it never hurts to dream…and does God subscribe to prayer calling for pain on his own? Unless it be Sodom and Gomorra…something our man EC is familiar with….

  14. @15 Doc CK, if you can convince your kinsmen in SP to vote ECL then someone else will convince NP, EP, MP, etc to vote HH. Then we can say that tribalism has been defeated, but you have to make the first move since you are the culprit.

  15. Devil the finger and hook of God is against you. You demonic forces that are holding and militating against Zambia’s economic, social, technological and environment progress we dethrone you right now. Fire of God burn the pots and caldrons that have been set in the heavenlies to disgrace Zambia.

God we rebuke and reject the spirit that has collapsed Zimbabwe economically, jailed Uganda in dictatorship and plunged Somalia/Sudan into armed conflict. You demons of destructions receive napalm fire of God.

Father we refuse and reject the demonic spirit of corruption that has held West and East Africa captive. Anyone who promotes and flourish on corruption, theft and looting I send the fire of God and disarm their ill gotten well to a thousand generation and replace them with…

  16. 18 terrible the people of southern province voted for Chiluba 90% ,They sacrificed to merge with Kaunda to create Zambia by allowing Nkumbula a learned worthy lawyer to give up and the Lozis allowed there country to be merged with North eastern Rodesia. What have the Bembas sacrificed?Let the Bembas and Nyanja allow diversity in Governing this country if we are too see development not the people the same things.

    • *****, there is no such group as the Nyanja. Eastern province like my western has Thumbukas, Nsenga, Senga, Ngoni etc, Just like Western province has Lozi, Nkoya etc. Do not try to deceive we the knowing Zambians.

  17. Kasama resident, what is wrong with you? Not all Nyanjas or Bembas behave the way you portray them. Take for instance, in Eastern province 2 districts , namely Sinda and Chadiza voted for HH in 2015. Tell me which districts voted for Edgar in 2015. Let us be obkjective, Politician will come and go. Mother Zambia will be there untl God says No more Zambia.

    • So? Luapula voted over 95% for Lungu and nobody talks about them. We know the preference to blame the others when it is the Bembas who want to ride over the backs of all the other Zambians.
      #ChagwaMustFall

  18. Chipimo is right. However, we had Mwanawasa who performed very well. However, after his death, the person who took over from him messed up again. He completely failed to continue in Mwanawasa’s path due to shear selfishness by him and his children. IN the same way, even if Chipimo ruled us for only one term, we have no guarantee that whoever would take over from him would continue with Chipimo’s ideas.

  19. Chipimo has good ideas and seems to love this country. Whenever he speaks, he talks about the need to change for the better. Change the agricultural policies, change the politicians, change the leaders, change the modus operandi but heck people keep voting for the same recycled politicians with their tired ideas. Radical thinking is what is needed for this country. I wish PF or UPND had replaced Lungu/HH with Chipimo. He is young with fresh ideas. Lungu is ineffectual and HH is a plunderer. We need new, fresh people.

  20. Chipimo is right…the caliber of leadership is a disgrace no one even bothering to sell their manifesto. We do not know what they stand for or how they will tackle the high debt created by Sata and Co. Zambia needs a serious leader unfortunately the likes of him do not appeal to the average voter on the streets.

  21. QUOTE ” replacing politicians is not the solution to the challenges in the country but the change of mindset by Zambians” WHY THEN DID CHIPIMO FORM NAREP?SUCH THINKING BY OUR “INTELLECTUALS” IS THE REAL PROBLEM.SCHOOL HAS DONE NO “CHANGE IN THE MINDSET”,E.G LOOK @ DORA & HER TRIBAL SENTIMENTS,WHAT HOPE HAS THE NATION GOT?

  22. Well said Chipimo, a lot of the problems in this country are due to the people,s mind-set of accepting a mediocre mundane life as if that’s how everything should be . My God this country is blessed with so much abundant natural resources that it is actually criminal it is so undeveloped, people need to feel real anger in them that we are lagging behind as a nation so much when we have so much God-given resources. Its a pity though that Chipimo will never, in my opinion, be President of this country. In my view he should concentrate on reviving the Zambia Civic Education Organisation which he worked on with late Lucy Banda Sichone, the people of Zambia need to be awakened to the tremendous opportunities that lie in this country especially the village folk, where drinking alcohol is the…

  23. Strange wish for this man. If the same wish was said by one HH even when he means well like this Ka Chipimo, the whole clowns of Bembas such as Emmanuel Mwamba, Frank Bwalya, Chishimba Kambwili, Mumbi Phiri, Chipimo himself and Eric Chanda would have been barking from all directions like rabid dogs. But here they are supporting him because he is Bemba though his head, like most of them is totally empty. I listened to the whole programme the chap said nothing of substance apart from decampaigning HH.

    This chap

  24. Unfortunately , very few Zambia’s will grasps your wisdom , we are far backwards as a people , to appreciate what your talking about. The few so called educated have , also joined the band wagon of arm chair critics.

  25. The first thing I would do as President is go federal government. Each province becomes a state, managing its resources and making a fair contribution to.national treasury. I agree with Chipimo, we need radical change. As Albert Einstein said, we cannot solve our challenges with the same level of thinking that created them. We need fresh thinking than borrowing like rabid dogs.

  26. I dont know what many of you are praising this man for?. This man does not believes in democracy, he believes in one party state, ati: “changing politician is not a solution, ” ati, we can not depend on politicians etc. He does not understand that in democracy we hold the politicians accountable, they are responsuble to grow our economy by utilizing our natural resources to benefit all zambians, through job creations, creation of a conjucive invernment for the creation of small business and many more such things. This man still lives in 70s. He is mixing things right and wrong. Politicians are the managers of our God given nature resources if they fail in their duties by mismanaging & enrich themselves to the expense of poor zambians, the citzens have the right to appoint other…

  27. All incantations from the pit of hell mega phoning the deception, manipulation, lies, oppression, corruption and wickedness of the devil, i annihilate and dispossess you of your vernom.

You incubus lying demonic spirits you are judged and condemned by the resurrection power and blood of triumph of Jesus Christ.

Wicked spirits that rule over the heavens of Zambia receive the thundering judgment of God and die.

  28. You people are missing the Point on the Issue of zambia leadership especially the presidency people don’t choose the president because he is more intelligence than the lest no but an humble and doen to earthy person who identifies with the lest .that is the quality people are look for. Not the no it all altitude god like the lest doesn’t know anything of it is not them then nothing will work.

  29. The Point is people does not like a person who think is more knowledgeable and clever than the lest but the humble and down to earth .who identifies himself with the lest.

  30. Chipimo has become one of the seasoned belly politics practitioner!! He has grown his white hair, a sign of advanced age, and the only thing he has ever done in his entire adult age is politicking!! He doesn’t even know how grow his own food even in his advanced age BUT he knows how to eat!! This ka ma chap is such a disgrace!!

  31. Is that the stability Zambia needs? A change of a Radical Leadership after only one term?? Would he achieve his goal to bring about that change in such short time? Evidence internationally is popular able gov’t carrying on for more than one term even here in the West.

    Politically delusional!

  32. The problem is bigger than we might think. UNIP built a very painful wall around us to such an extent that even when it has been removed we are afraid to cross the line where it used to be. We call spin politics. We call superstition religion. We consider jest insult. We think education is a forgery. We respect loud mouths and disrespect hardworking introverts. We kill the messenger and reward the culprit. It is a very painful ball game in this country that can not be narrowed down the imperatives of politics. Politics is necessary everywhere but we apply it with ignoble mediocrity in Zambia it is not even funny anymore.

  33. I agree with Mr. Chipimo Jnr. It is as if existence is at the mercy of whoever we vote into power. Power politics ad infinitum. Time to take stock of our real problems, and find lasting solution to them!

  34. To me what Elias Chipimo has said boarders on sadism. Why really pray that the people you aspire to lead must suffer so that they elect you to come and institute radical measures that will make them even suffer more so that they do not re-elect you but leave you to enjoy the presidential retirement package? We really do not have smart politicians in Zambia. If I really wanted to use the word prayer as key in my statement, I would have said that ” I pray that the Zambian people realize that they do not need to depend on politicians but work hard individually and collectively for their on benefit and that of the future generations”. Simple!

  35. It’s easy to talk eloquently with such an expensive education but he will never be president so it is irrelevant to make such comments. Is he even running as an MP or just seated analyzing things?

  36. I see a lot of people voting for one Edgar Lungu. To some people no matter how much they suffer, tribe comes first! They would even say, “twalibelela cipuba chesu, kuti twacita shani”. Such kind of thinking will never lead us as a country anywhere! 50 years from now we ll continue complaining about the same things we are complaining about today! Every commodity today is beyond the reach of most families but the same people will still find a voice and shout, “ifintu ni Lungu” in their almost dying state from hunger!
