Government says it is exploring ways of enhancing trade between Zambia and Angola in light of the opening of the Mongu-Kalabo road.

Vice President Inonge Wina said on her arrival at Mongu airport this morning, that government is eager to see the locals in Western Province get exposed and benefit from new markets through the entrepreneurship and empowerment programmes the state has initiated.

Ms. Wina said the newly constructed roads will not only provide transport and communication linkage to the locals but also promote new business opportunities and ventures to the whole country.

ZANIS reports that the Vice President stressed the need to harness the water resources from the abundant reservoirs in the province.

She pointed out that sinking of boreholes is a short term solution of addressing the water problems being experienced in Mongu, Sesheke, Senanga, Kalabo and Lukulu districts.

Ms Wina said plans are underway to tap water from the reservoirs to alleviate the water shortages being experienced in these areas.

She noted that government is still committed to providing relief food for all affected people in the areas that were mostly affected by the drought of last year.

Ms Wina stressed that government is working round the clock to ensure that no Zambian will starve in the country.

The Vice President is in Western Province to officially open a clinic in the West Bank at Siloloti and will later pay a courtesy call on the Litunga La Mboela in Nalolo District.

  1. Iam awaiting the manifestos of of Zambias political parties. Where can I view them? Can the parties give plans for these problems?
Lusaka has the largest number of shanties among Soutrhern Africas capital cities. How are you going to eradicate them?
Zambia has one of the biggest populations of the poorest in SouthernAfrica what plans do you have to increase wealth?
Zambia’s urban areas are rotting before our very eyes copperbelt and line of rail towns are having their tarmacs eroded, houses visibly deteriorating withrust roofs etc because people are broke. How are you gonna solve this?
Zambia’s education system is producing poor graduates who cant even spell as can be evidenced in blogs and posts what are you gonna do about this?
SOWETO market is an eyesore and disease transmission…

  2. SOWETO market is an eyesore and disease transmission zone because the nation lacks hygiene standards since the PF wants to give its supporters something to do. If HH or Nawakwi or Chipimo takes over what will helshe do to clean this place up?
Policemen are too corrupt. What are you gonna do about it?
Zambia isa country without public toilets what are you gonna do about this?

  3. How do you seek ways to enhance trade with Angola when you have already constructed a road worth close to half billion dollars..did you not plan in advance…what can an old lady like bo Inonge discuss surely!!

  4. PF you mean before you embarked on construction of roads and other infrastructure you didn’t have plans for their use. You should have identified opportunities in Angola first & identified projects & citizens to produce in the country in order utilise those opportunities. By the time you identify those opportunities, the roads & other infrastructure would have worn out & in need of reconstruction before you could utilise the opportunities. After 52 years of independence, we are still discussing &having water blues such that people can’t even afford a decent shower or bath? Shame.

  5. My late Dad (MHSRIP) once described Zambians as; “a shamefully stupid pipo” and now I understand what he meant. We are indeed like FISH in the water where a fisherman would throw his ‘bet’ (like colonialists did when they introduced their white Jesus upon stupid we), but despite the many fish that we SEE being ‘scooped’ out of the river we still rush; at electronic speed to another fresh bet….
