United Party for National Development(UPND) spokesperson, Charles Kakoma has said that his party is facing challenges obtaining letters of confirmation for Grade 12 certification from the Examination Council of Zambia(ECZ).
In a telephone interview from Kitwe with ZNBC, Mr Kakoma said that the challenges have delayed the opposition party’s adoption process.
Mr Kakoma said that said most of the applicants have spent over two weeks trying to obtain the letters of confirmation.
Mr Kakoma was speaking when he was asked about UPN’s progress in finalising the adoption process of people who will stand on the party ticket.
Most political parties participating in the August General elections have said that they will soon conclude their adoption processes.
Rainbow Party National Coordinator for Mobilisation, Robert Chikwelete said that his party will announce the successful applicants in the next two weeks. Mr. Chikwelete told ZNBC News in Lusaka today that his party will field candidates country-wide.
Meanwhile, Patriotic Front Deputy Spokesperson Frank Bwalya has said that says the UPND’s popularity will be tested in the next three months.
Mr. Bwalya has alleged that the UPND has released huge sums of money to pay people faking to be defecting to their party ahead of the August 11th General Elections.
Mr. Bwalya said that all the people who are paid to be faking the defections will not even vote for the UPND leader Hakainde Hichilema because they just want to eat his money and leave.
Mr. Bwalya said that it is should click in the minds of the UPND that the people who are defecting are going alone without being accompanied by anyone when in the actual sense they may have some followers.
Mr. Bwalya cited that when former Lusaka Province Minister Mulenga Sata went to file in his application for the executive mayor position, he went to the secretariat with a huge following but wondered why he was not accompanied by the same followers when he was joining the UPND.

You don’t need a G12 certificate to understand what Kakoma is saying. Everyone going to ECZ for verification is complaining about the queues. It doesn’t mean that they are failing to meet their adoption deadline. Bring on the real issues.

It’s a no brainer, With so many fake certificates in your camp, this is a mammoth task for ECZ to verify. There are just too many certificates from Marabo Secondary School in Botswana or wherever. ECZ has to phone your Marabo Secondary school to just ascertain if the certificates are even genuine before doing a parity or equivalence verification check. All people with genuine Zambian certificates got verification in less than a week. But these fake certificates are hectic. It’s a mammoth task

ECZ database van easily verify their certificates. But those from Botswana and other places are verified by conducting examining bodies.

The new people-driven Constitution which was signed by His Excellency President Edgar Lungu is already bearing fruit. Most chaps in UPND went to night school after failing to get diplomas jumping the necessary grade 12 examinations. I will not be surprised if Kachema himself doesn’t have a grade 12 certificate. Both ECZs meaning the Elections Commission of Zambia and the Examination Council of Zambia are working with the PF to disenfranchise the UPND candidates. This is a clear ploy by the PF. Law is law my dear, people go to ECZ with no other identity other than the G12 certificate. if one’s certificate is fake you cannot compel ECZ to confirm that it is genuine just because you are from party A or party B. Simple advise to UPND look for other people with genuine G12 certificates. Do not waste your time with people who have been thinking that even if they do not complete G12 they will still get G12 certificates from examinations council of matero . After all ECZ has already announced that a lot of people, not candidates, going to ECZ for G12 certificate verification have fake ones. In fact ECZ should report them to police for prosecution since it is an offence.

I have a Division One Cambridge School Certificate obtained in 1973. Why should I have it certified by ECZ? ECZ is not the issuing authority. How can they verify my certificate?

UPND claim to be educated but why are they finding it difficulty to identify candidates with grade twelve certificates? They say PF is the party for the uneducated but if you check on the current crop of their MPs, there is no single doctor or proffessor while PF has many so they are a party with a bunch of illitrates who are just wasting ECZ’s time.
Bo-Kakoma this is what happens when instead of representing the people in parliament your MPs ‘boycott’ debate on the Bill on the Constitution simply because they are proud or incapable of reading what is being proposed and then when the bill is passed cry foul! How many of your people have lost the certificate? Its not too late to get a copy from ECZ or indeed to send for one from Botswana by dhl or indeed from Swaziland….so ask your members to request from their old secondary schools for a transcript and present these for ECZ to issue the certificate…the transcripts are kept on the student records usually in the headmasters office….and we have checked GBM only appears at Form 3 at Kamwala even that was a fail…
