Phiri happy with winning start at Power

Sports Phiri happy with winning start at Power

Power Dynamos interim coach Anderson Phiri says he is relieved to have begun his stint with a win.

Power beat Nkwazi 1-0 at home in Phiri’s first game in charge as interim coach that came a day after the dismissal of his former boss Tenant Chilumba.

The ex-Mufulira Wanderers coach said it was important to start his reign with victory.

“All we needed was a win after all that happened (Chilumba dismissal). Expectations are very high as you know Power Dynamos is big team. We need to be getting points as we go along,” Phiri said.

He is now preparing Power for tougher encounters against Zanaco on Wednesday and Nkana in Wusakile on Saturday.

“We will prepare for these games and see what we will do,” Phiri said.

8th placed Power have 13 points from 8 games played.

  1. It’s not a bad situation for power. Power has the potential to come first or second in the current premier league.
