Police in Lusaka have arrested five UPND cadres after they were found defacing PF billboards along Cairo road on Sunday night.
The five are Lawrence Banda, Soft Bwalya, Benjamin Mavuli, Simonda Simonda and Jaid Hamize.
Police Deputy Spokesman Rae Hamoonga said the cadre were found removing PF posters and replacing them with their posters along Cairo road yesterday between 22:00 and 23:00 Hours.
Mr Hamoonga said the cadres were using a Toyota Land Cruiser Registration AAL 5818 and upon searching the motor vehicle two machetes were found.
“The same also injured Kasosa Mukuka in the head who sustained a cut in the head after confronting them.
Mukuka has since been issued with a medical report.
The five have been charged with assault and contravention of the Code of Conduct of the Electoral Process Act 35 of 2016.

President Edgar Lungu amassed astronomical worth in a short space of time. Yet UPND is branded a violent party by the bloggers on this forum. You fail to ask the right questions all the time. How many times have the UPND been attacked, and how many of them have been injured? What did the Police ever do about it? Yet UPND are termed bastards. We are such a disunited people in this country called Zambia.

I never thought Zambia could reach this stage. I condemn violence from any party. But Lungu is to blame for this kind of violence. His PF police are to blame for this violence. They arrest UPND cadres but they are soft on PF who have killed and injured many people and have removed many UPND posters. Hope this was not a work of PF injuring their fellow cadres since they have done this before to frame up the opposition. in any case, let the guilty be punished.

This is so amateur. 1st you take a photo behind a pick up truck with a poster which is nicely parked in perhaps a car park. How I know is because the car parked next to the truck is nicely aligned to the vehicle next to it. Secondly, The guy with a machete positioned has head in a manner that doesn’t show his face. The other person only the legs were captured in the picture. Come on guys, you can do better than that. And LT. Don’t you have an editor? Show us the faces of the 5 criminals.
