UPND lawyers representing Mulenga Sata in a matter in which Mr sata petitioned the election of Hon Given Lubinda this morning submitted before judge Mungomba that the witnesses for Mulenga Sata were visited at mid-night by known PF- thugs.
UPND lawyers Keith Mweemba and Counsel Haimbe argued that there can be no justice if witnesses are being threatened. The UPND lawyers sought guidance from the court on how court could proceed.
The first witness for Mulenga Sata , Collins Malambo was at midnight visited by PF thugs with death threats. The PF cadres have since been reported to the police.
Meanwhile PF cadres stormed the high court reception causing havoc and confusion at the court. For the first time political cadres have stormed the court rooms insulting and intimidating the court and the UPND lawyers.
The cadres later went to the supreme court grounds to control traffic and censoring who should enter the court grounds.
The court became increasingly insecure and the judge opted to adjourn the matter to tomorrow, and Friday being the last day.
The UPND lawyers resolved to apply to Subpeona (summons) the witnesses so that the come and testify their threats as well as proceed with their testimonies.
The respondent Lawyers (Lubinda lawyers, Attorney general lawyers and ECZ lawyers ) tried to object the death threats but the UPND lawyers argued that it is premature and irresponsible for the PF lawyers to take a serious matter lightly when their witnesses are being threatened. The matter adjourned to tomorrow at 9hrs.
