FOOD Reserve Agency executive director Chola Kafwabulula talking to farmers at FRA satelite depot at Kamulaza in Chipata

The Food Reserve Agency (FRA) has expressed ignorance regarding some media reports suggesting that farmers are not selling maize to the Agency, in preference to private buyers offering attractive prices.

FRA Public Relations Officer Daniel Msoka said he was not preview to reports suggesting that farmers in some parts of the country have refused to sell maize to FRA.

He disclosed this in a telephone interview with ZANIS, in Lusaka today.

Mr. Msoka added that the reports that have been speculating on social media are false, and that FRA has not closed any of its satellite depots.

This follows reports in some sections of the media suggesting that FRA has been recording a low supply of maize in this marketing season, due to farmers shunning away from selling maize to the agency.

  1. living in denial sir? the truth of the matter is a good number of people have opted to get instant K85/50Kg rather wait for it from you for a long period. on the other hand, this is how its supposed to be that if the people buying maize are offering a good price, they should sale. FRA should only stock strategic reserves not any surplus. my only cry in Zambia is that we have stopped a farmer from selling his or her maize outside the country.

  2. This Danielie Musoka from FRA comfortably seated in his office is the one who is ignorant if anything of what is obtaining out there in rural areas. If his idea is to defend the Agency and portray a picture of what he is claiming is true to please or bring it out to general public that all is well is simply trying to fool and mislead GOVT.Indeed people have stopped selling maize to FRA in preference to private buyers because of goof price besides that farmers who supplied their produce since August todate have not been paid, bushe ninani engatemwa ifyo PF bafililwe ukuteka ichalo?Iyoo kwena nipaya farmer bachimbwi baimininapo!
