Zesco demolish Red Arrows

Zesco United beat Red Arrows 4-1 away in Lusaka on Tuesday afternoon to make a bright start on their four-match, ten-day stopover in Lusaka with a target on a 12-point haul.

The defending FAZ Super Division champions stay put in 4th place but move within four points of 3rd placed Power Dynamos on 49 and 53 points from 22 and 29 matches played respectively.

Second placed Nkana have 57 points from 29 games while leaders Zanaco have 64 points from 27 matches.

Kenya striker Jesse Were scored a brace for Zesco starting with a 34th minute penalty and a goal in the 80th minute.

Were takes his tally to 14 league goals and stays second behind Nkana’s Walter Bwalya.

Midfielder Cletus Chama added Zesco’s second in the 76th minute while Idris Mbombo completed the rout in the 82nd minute.

Francis Kombe converted a penalty for 6th placed Arrows in the 87th minute.

Zesco next play Zanaco this Saturday before visiting Nkwazi on Wednesday and Green Buffaloes on October 29.
