Govt refutes allegations of being sued by UPND

Share

Special Assistant to the President for Press and Public Relations Amos Chanda has refuted claims suggesting that the United Party for National Development (UPND) has taken government to the International Criminal court (ICC) and International Court of Justice (ICJ) over the election results.

During a press briefing at State House this morning, Mr Chanda told journalists that government was not preview to any court documents regarding the matter, from the ICC and ICJ as claimed by the UPND.

Mr Chanda stressed that the only case known to government was that of a private individual from Namwala in Southern Province who has sued the UPND in the said court for crimes against humanity.

He charged that the information was misleading to the public and aimed at creating divisions and anarchy in the country.

Mr Chanda however stressed that government will not allow lawlessness to prevail in the country.

He stated that government will receive the court documents once served and respond accordingly as any law abiding citizen.

But when reached for a comment UPND Spokesperson Charles Kakoma was un-available.

  1. I would have been shocked to learn that this simple issue of one terribly losing an election would be taken to the ICC

  2. IN KASEMPA, IT IS REPORTED THAT VILLAGERS ARE CEREBRATING THAT THE ICC AND ICJ WILL REMOVE PRESIDENT ECL FROM POWER ON 1ST NOVEMBER AND INSTALL HH. SOME POOR VILLAGERS WHO CANNOT EVEN SPELL THEIR OWN NAMES ARE EXCITEDLY PEDDLING THIS LIE. IT IS SO FUNNY. I THINK SCHOOL IS VERY IMPORTANT. SO MANY ILLITERATES IN KASEMPA.

  3. THERE IS ALWAYS SOMETHING LACKING IN OUR REPORTERS. E.G. UPND SPOKES PERSON WAS NOT AVAILABLE FOR A COMMENT. JUST HOW DO THESE JOURNALISTS GO ABOUT REPORT HALF THE STORY? SHOULDN’T THEY CONFIRM FROM BOTH SIDES? A SIMILAR THINGS HAPPENS IN PRINT MEDIA, TODAY THEY RUN A STORY, TOMORROW ATI “APOLOGY FOR THE WRONG OR FALSE STORY WE CARRIED YESTERDAY”. COME ON GUYS, YOU CAN DO BETTER THAN THAT

  4. One bitter man who has lost us a record six elections claimed he would sue KBF, we are waiting. He claimed he would address his ‘followers’ not party members after the court rules in his favor and he assumes office. Our people have lost their goods in Mazabuka NOT a single party official has gone to console them. We have those in detention which he claims are over 2000 he has only gone to visit those in Kamfinsa where it was a publicity gimmick to get arrested and avoid answering our question. HH are we going for a convention? What next that we have lost again? Who have you consulted in ‘boycotting’ national events? Who do you listen to these days…2021 we want change HH swaaa…Zambia Forward.

  5. Has the ICC and ICJ got anything to with election results of a particular country or violence (violation of human rights) like what happened in Southern Prince, especially Maala village of Namwala District where one opposition political party perpetual elections loser comes from? This is a damn joke!

  6. The truth is there are three UPND applications in High Court and two in Concourt. Once these three applications are heard locally UPND can use its discretion to approach appropriate Institutions outside the country if domestic remedies are legally unsatisfactory. If UPND ICC cases are weak and inappropriate then why is Chanda worried? Why not just ignore them. As for the Petetion Concourt made serious legal errors which can be rightly appealed at the International Court of Justice. The prospects for success for UPND look very good. Without disposing off the Petetion in Concourt Lungu will remain an illegitimate President. The Petetioners were never heard and Concourt did not determine the Winner of this Election and therefore Lungu is illegitimate.Period.

  7. HH and GBM should just own up and look to 2021 if he is wise enough. If he continues with his defiance stance, he will end up a criminal convict with a suspended sentence but still a convict and become ineligible to stand in 2021 together with GBM.

If you borrowed monet for campaigns jut plead with the creditor for extention of pay time, by meanwhile start fund raising campaign.

You just lost the Elections, KWASILA
