GBFC frustrate Zesco United

Zesco United were denied a win away at Green Buffaloes on Saturday to see them make very little headway in their league title defence.

The champions finished 1-1 away at fifth placed Green Buffaloes to stay put at number four.

Mwape Mwelwa put Zesco in control for most of the match with a 1-0 lead in the 2nd minute.

However, Buffaloes snatched an 89th minute equaliser through Sebastian Mwansa to deny Zesco a much needed win after picking just one point from the last two games.

The draw came three days after Zesco lost 1-0 away to Nkwazi last Wednesday in the wake of a 0-0 away draw at leaders Zanaco on October 22 and a 4-1 win at Red Arrows on October 18.

Zesco have 51 points, fourteen behind Zanaco who only play on Sunday when they host Forest Rangers in Lusaka.

The champions are also four points behind second placed Nkana who are also in action on Sunday at home against Napsa Stars.

Buffaloes are fifth and two points behind Zesco after the draw.
