President Lungu mourns deceased Mkhondo

Republican President Edgar Lungu has conveyed his message of condolences over the death of former Deputy Speaker Mkhondo Lungu whom he has described as having given a distinguished service and significant contribution to the Republic of Zambia.

According to a press statement by State house special assistant to the president press and public relations Amos Chanda the Head of State said he had learnt with deep sadness the demise of the former Deputy Speaker who died in South Africa where he was receiving treatment.

“Please accept our sincere condolences and be assured that we are with you as you go through this grief,” the President said.

Mr. Chanda said President Lungu, in a letter of condolences to the bereaved family said the former Deputy Speaker’s loyalty, patriotism to Zambia and humble character made it easy for him to work with others and deliver accordingly.

The President said Mr Lungu’s, civil service track record as a Parliamentarian and consequently, Deputy Speaker in the 2011 to 2016 at the National Assembly session was remarkable and will be greatly missed by the people of Zambia.

The President prayed that Mr Lungu’s family would find comfort, solace and fortitude in the Almighty God during the difficult period of mourning.

    If only my uncle hailed from Northern as late Nsanda (the thirf) he would have been evacuated to South Africa or UK. Only admitted at UTH so much service to mother Zambia. Thieves die in South Africa or UK. Where was Edgar Lungu all this time only to send a letter of condelences. An insult to our family.
