“Having gone round and seen the sufferings of the people, we thought that it was important to go back and make donations, we didn’t want people to think that we only helping to woe support for Mr Lungu to be voted into office but it is our desire to help the needy.

” We were helping with our little resources even before we got into state house,” she said.

Mrs Lungu will also commission boreholes in chief Ndake’s are that were sunk by the Esther Lungu foundation.

Meanwhile, Eastern Province Minister Makebi Zulu commended the first lady for considering the region with her donations.

Mr Zulu said agriculture, education and women empowerment were priority areas in the developmental agenda of the province.

Mr Zulu said poor access to clean water and sanitation has been a challenge especially in rural parts of the province.

He stated that the sinking of boreholes in chief Ndake’s area will enable women, who spent most of their time fetching the commodity, engage in more productive activities that can help better their lives.

  1. What happened to Mpundu Trust and Hope Foundation …do these charities just receive donations when their husbands are in State House…they are not sustainable. What confidence is there when you are merely handing out gifts and reading speeches.

  2. @Jay Jay, I agree with you. i think these first ladies should be banned from having Foundations while their husbands are in office because they use the funds to campaign for their husbands. Let them have their Foundations after their husbands leave office. maybe then these Foundations will last for long time.

  3. Ico! Minister of Social Welfare in the First Lady’s Office. So much non.sense in the country it is not even funny. By the way what the heck is happening to the Ministry of National Guidance and Religious Affairs? Waiting for the Tabernacle to be erected are we? You can use the interdenominational UNZA chapel in the meantime…
