Share

Former Football Association of Zambia (FAZ) president Kalusha Bwalya has dropped out of the race for the FIFA Council Member for the Anglophone Grouping.

Kalusha, 53, who was in the race alongside Kwesi Nyantakyi (Ghana) and Leodegar Tenga (Tanzania) has cited need for unity as the reason for his move.

“I took the decision for the sake of unity in world football,” he told Soka25east.com, while wishing Tenga and Kwesi well in the race.

“I would like to wish both Tenga and Kwesi all the best in the upcoming elections.”

The elections are scheduled for Addis Ababa, Ethiopia on 16th March 2017 during the 39th Ordinary General Assembly of CAF.

  1. Is it really unity or the fact that he failed the integrity test? Ma genes ya Blatter can’t fit in the composition the of current fifa EXCO.

    • Great Kalu is a zambian who’s done so much for the country & I would like to support him but his decision making always leaves me questioning what motivates him. Didn’t he realise the unity he’s talking about now when he was causing chaos at FAZ asking for an endorsement certificate? He went further to pit GRZ against AK, for what? Why is it that to him IT’S ONLY HIM.

    • FIFA is cleaning house they dont want corrupt officials like his Grand Dad Sepp…Great Galu should just ask Lazy for a desk job that is where all they corrupt people are going to.

    • thieves should be caged….its only here where we hero worship thieves……supersport funds where in his pockets

    • Current FIFA boss wants to work with clean people. Fortunately for us Kalusha is no one of them. He can’t pass pass the integrity test. Even Issa Hayatou is going. He has outlived his usefulness.

    • Since when did Zambians begin to worry about a person’s integrity? Is it not the norm in Zambia that the less integrity you have the better are your chances to become even president? Lungu is a thief yet he is president.

  2. Comment: thumbs up kalu, you are a real man and the kamanga administration would have not supported you.

    • Thumbs up yakuti? you need to choose wisely where to apply your thumbs up. This man has unfinished business with the ACC and it was too early for him to stand as he was going to fail the intergrity test

    • He knew the face to face interview will be heated and chicken out i mean even a showing a bank statement showing that he is paying back that $80k loan would be a challenge because its a bribe.

  3. Kalu is joke, it has come his attention that he was definitely going to lose, he wants to pretend that he cares now, he has realized the need for unit just now? Sucker!

  4. No fighting spirit…always sacrificing for others….hiding their incompetence at international level…looser.

  5. …jumping before you are pushed….CAF president could have advised him to do that….definitely not by his own accord…this is a case just like Mulyokela pulls out of the presidential race…

  6. He is a corrupt person with a lot of outstanding questions to answer. From the $80k he received from the Arab to the dogey Nike cancellation of a sponsorship deal to disappearing gate recites for matches.

FIFA are in no mood for corrupt officials.

  7. Really laughable…he pulled out because he could not answer simple questions, he thought he was going for an interview with the useless ACC ….FIFA is clean house, they want to get rid of all crooks in Football.

  8. Coward who can not tick outside his box- shame for Zambians who champion over national issues with arrogance and are many. Out side Zambia, Zambians are most pathetic. Look at posts at UN, AU, SADIC, in sports, never heard Zambian name of substance. Blame Kalusha’s greed.

    • If you are referring to the negative comments , it’s not about who he supported but it’s about his corruption.

Any corrupt person should be stigmatised and treated as garbage.

  9. If you want to enjoy in this country learn to read and understand political barometer. For example which person is now attracting a lot of political attention in Zambia?

  10. Kalu is overrated, and thinks so highly of himself. He should be operating mini busses or taxis in Mufulira.

  11. Kalu knows that he was going nowhere he failed to vote for kalaba himself because of corruption so how can FIFA have confidence in him if he didn’t vote for his own boy kalaba?

  12. People please you should appreciate Kalusha Bwalya Did a great job when the all team died. I think most of you were young by that time. Don’t recommend some one when he is in the coffin.

    • Zoona don’t answer stupid questions. From these chaps who doesent know anything. My dear u are whrite KALU is greater than the boss kamanga and all these who are insulting him to day. Morrow’s? Look at your hatred to a successful Son of Zambia. Songs Epo wabomba kwindi iwe before u frustrate innocent great KALU my football. He is the man in Zambian football still. Good move KALU with due respect. (Batukana tabaiceba)

    • @ Zoona indeed Kalu made Zambia proud in his hey days as too the likes of Godfrey ‘Ucar’ Chitalu, Samuel ‘Zoom’ Ndhlovu, Jericho Shinde, Lottie ‘Gunduzani’ Mwale, Yotam Muleya and many more others one can add to the list but why should we let Kalu hang round our necks like a mill stone? He’s made it in the annals of Zambian Soccer history and its time we start searching for a new star like U20 Sakala!

    • Zoona ..surely who gets $80,000 loan after voting for that country in the name of FAZ and does not pump that money back in Football development. You can give this boy Galu £1,000,000 he will be broke after 2 months because he lives beyond his means and very greedy, does not plan ahead.
You are the same people who would hand your wives to Galu for a night because you worship him like a ka god!

  13. Zoona. Simple questions to you.

What about if some one does very well but in the end he kills or steals will he be forgiven on account of his good past record by God? Even in the courts of law on earth do they pardon criminals on account of their past good records or performance?

    • Please don’t mind these blind Galu bootlickers, even when the FAZ bus was in RSA these lickers said Galu knows what he is doing, we had a good deal with Nike but Galu was selling replicas from China behind their backs when the are paying FAZ a sponsorship fee….gate ticket funds was shared like it was the match was being played in their backyard.

    • The man can not answer simple questions full stop as he is corrupt, if you say you got a loan…how much have you paid back simple

  15. What unity iwe! We all know you know you stood no chance what with cosafa stating that they were not going to support anyone who is not a serving president of a football association! So who are fooling, your followers?

  16. Kalu is dishonest. He should be tellling us that he missed the Fifa Integrity Test and he is going to be disqualified by the Fifa Ethics Committee. Kalu was convicted in Court for corruption activities. Kalu is generally a corrupt person.Period.

  17. Reports has exclusively been informed Kalusha hopped out of the race after it became clear FIFA was demanding answers he did not have. The allegations ranged from him bribes to professional misconduct.

Sources at FIFA have disclosed that Kalusha’s candidature was blighted with numerous allegations of impropriety.

And as a result, the FIFA Ethics Committee wrote Kalusha a letter containing more than 10 question asking him to clarify the allegations.

The FIFA officials have disclosed that Kalusha was asked to explain a lot of allegations including two legal challenges he had lost in the Zambian court which included failure to pay bills on time leading to the former soccer star losing his house in Lusaka’s Woodlands area.

    FIFA also questioned dubious contracts…

  18. Iconic names in sports, politics, science, religion and so forth, get and remain etched in stone all over the world. their outstanding great works are memorialised and celebrated. So when someone like Godfrey Chitalu sets a world record of scoring 107goals in a regular season it is an accomplishment that our nation must eternally recognise and celebrate, and a showpiece fabric of our cultural potency to the rest of the world such that Ronaldo cannot be proclaimed the first to do so. As humans our heroes also have their frailties and skeletons no worse than other icons. To impugne and trash them at all levels while discarding their life sacrifices and accomplishments is as rotten as where you came from. please celebrate them.

    • So it is with that spirit in mind that i would implore fellow Zambians and sincere fans that we owe it to ourselves first to uphold ,rever, and celebrate the accomplishments of our leaders and icons in high esteem such that their positive light serve as beacons for generations that follow. Accentuate the positives and minimise the negatives. Kalusha is a well known commodity worldwide yet advertised as a criminal element in his home country. I have heard the quote “let ye who is without sin, cast the first stone”.
